  1. Many guys dropshot with 872S for big smallies up north. I've read the 822 DSR is more a one trick pony because of it's action it's great at straight below boat vertical dropshotting but not as good for casting and drag dropshotting.
  2. The 2 inches makes the tip a bit softer and 872S casts a bit further as a result. I have both when I'm fishing shallow with wacky rigs and light Texas rigs for largemouth I always go 852S. When I'm throwing shaky heads or small paddle tails for spots out deeper I prefer the 872S. Depends on budget I came across a used Stella on another forum and I have it on my 852S feels awesome. I have a Pflueger Patriarch XT on my 872S don't like the line lay of it much so if I come across a better used reel on a forum I'll likely swap it.
  3. And get a pflueger president size 30 reel to go with it
  4. Rage tail craw, lobster, and space monkey for me
  5. Would this rod be good for target casting squarebills(KVD 1.5 and Crush 50X) cruising the bank in the spring? Been thinking about picking up this rod like the lure ratings and the length of it at 6'10".
  6. I stick with Diawa for casting and Shimano for Spinning. Used to be a all Pflueger user but once I experience Shimano spinners I could not go back.
  7. Most of my bigger lakes I fish are predominantly spotted bass mostly smaller guys with a few bigger ones around. I had amazing success this year throwing a 4" Senko on a Neko rig for them only time I've used my 4's. Was the most effective technique for me in March and April this year.
  8. Same here got a double cab Tacoma footwell of passenger side to back corner of drivers longest rod is 7'5". Carried a passenger last time out he just had to make do and scoot over some lol.
  9. I'd say go with a Daiwa Tatula or get a St. Croix victory its promo codes available to get 10/15 percent off both to bring them around 150
  10. Johnson silver minnow I keep some gold and silver in my bag for tough days
  11. I went from having never fished a wacky rig in years past to not being able to put it down this year and fish it with the utmost confidence. It's a fish catcher for sure and glad it made a great day for you throwing it.

  15. Wasn't really looking for this rod yet but did plan to buy it later this year. Lucky for me I came across a price on a show room demo model 893C I just couldn't pass on so grabbed it. Plan to grab another Zillion to put on it and be my main 5/16 & 3/8 ounce jig rod.
  16. Best 3 1)Stick baits Wacky or Neko 2)Texas rigged brush hawgs or lizards 3)tie Finesse paddletails/shaky head Worst 3 Spinnerbait -I've caught 3 fish ever on a spinnerbait hopefully they changes in the near future Hard topwaters -just don't give them much effort any more Cranks-used to be a go to especially a redeye shad in spring but been a rough go with them last couple years Honorable mention Jigs and chatterbaits-decided to give them both a dedicated effort this year and have definitely been productive and will be in rotation going forward. Caught 3 of my biggest 5 this year so far on a jig.

  18. I use the Owner Sniper Finesse hook in a 1/0 size usually a 5 inch senko on a NRX 852s. I have weedless and regular versions of that Owner hook but try to stick with the regular when possible.
  19. 843C/844c in whatever Loomis line you choose I have 2 conquest 843c models I love. One has a new Zillion and the other has a Steez on it.
  20. Shimano/G. Loomis Strike King Dirty Jigs Sunline and Toyota for line and travel
  21. Same here added my first 2 casting setups this year just because I wanted to get into throwing jigs and chatterbaits but everything else has been thrown on spinning for years.
  22. Check ebay for a previous gen Pflueger Supreme(silver) or Supreme XT(blue with orange or gold accents). If not one of those are available get a President or president XT.
  23. Decided to head out yesterday anyways after my buddy bailed on me and glad I did got my first 4 pounder of the year. Only caught two a 4.12 and a 2.99. Lake was about a half mile walk into so had to take limited gear just some senkos, flukes, brush hawgs, and my jig/chatterbait box. Fished an hour and a half or so and wasn't having any luck at all with my usuals so I threw on a 3/8 ounce jig and trailer and second flip with it by a pipe drain the 4 pounder hit and got the 2.99 shortly after. Been trying to get confidence in jigs this year and so far I've only caught 3 fish on them but they've been 3 of my 5 biggest this year.
