  1. I see people use these all the time when the white perch run on the james...they put a 1-1/2oz wait on it and toss it out and let it sit...on hot days during the run you can get 6 fish at once!
  2. ;D ;D ;D I laughed at that, lol Got me at first but my monitors were set really bright so the leg looked suspicious! nice post =D
  3. Yep Ernie from pacemaker forums does it, I've wanted to but fear of looking like an idiot has always kept me from trying....=D
  4. Geez, and I still think the US curados still have small handles...I wonder how small the jdm ones are...
  5. I've never tried their worms but I did buy their hardnose tubes and flukes, on these the hard noses don't seem to change the action much or at all. I do have one gripe with them though...since the nose area is so hard it doesn't rip as easily like it's advertised, however the area where the density changes from soft to hard tends to split alot for me. That ends up changing the action and is more annoying than a torn head.
  6. Imagine the fish that swimbait would catch
  7. I'll take ya up on that offer when the cold blows over ernie! Hard finding places to practice the fly rod in the city =/
  8. Backing like...the braided looking stuff, dacron i think? I bought an entire outfit and it came with some of that so I put it on just cause i had some. I don't think I'll ever get down to it but better safe then sorry eh? If ya come down to richmond one day during the run you might need it, these 2-3lb shad fight nicely =D I think they're also known as "baby tarpon" As for tippet, from what I understand there's the main line, leader, then tippet. The leaders I have are 9ft tapered leaders (length of the leader is probably important for some applications but I dunno for what, lol) tapered means it goes from a really thick diameter and tapers down to a few feet of the test size that you bought. Eventually after changing out flies and snipping little bits off you'll get to the point where the line starts to get thicker again and thats when you tie on some tippet to extend the life of your tapered leader... ... ... I think... ;D
  9. Definitely eddie, claim a spot on the river with some other yakers =D My fly fishing is horrible, the local orvis told me to get some 8lb Abrasion Resistant leader and 4 lb AR tippet so I've been using my 6wt for smallies but I haven't caught anything of size just some small ones but they still put up a fun fight on the fly rod. Shad on a reg rod/reel was fun enough...on a fly rod it should be amazing!
  10. yea, last year I was stuck on land but even then I caught fish almost every cast, they fight hard too! Where I went was majorly crowded one step left or right and you'd run into someone...line tangling up...it was horrible. In the water i hear you have to deal with crazies in bass boats zooming around =/ But it's major fun! I wanna try fly fishing for some this year
  11. waiting on things to warm up and itching for the shad to start running
  12. Great deals! I was thinking of getting some kistlers too since they had the sale at simmons. I didn't and I kinda regret it now, if only they had a stcroix/loomis warranty I'd be all over it!
  13. I wouldn't put it past the kids to plant some in a teachers car they didn't like...I can think of a few professors I'd like to do that to right now...
  14. E7 for me, I figure that over the entire day it'll be alot easier to slow down than to speed up, less effort = more energy to fish!
  15. I find that statement humorous.
  16. Another free virus scanner I recommend is AVAST. great program, self updating. sometimes I go out of my way to click on known virus links to see if avast will catch it. It always does (not recommended )
  17. darn, looked like an interesting movie. Too bad. I think it's the little details that really counts, you can make up as much crap as you want with the sci-fi cause essentailly, it's just that, sci-fi, but get the REAL details right like the sidewinder missiles.
  18. I think I've actually become a worse fisherman by reading that : fail
  19. Oh man, I would rather be doing math all day than writing...i groan over 3 page papers >< I just finished my Mechanical stat/Thermo class it was killer :-/ Just need Electromagetism and microbiology to graduate!
  20. Yea I got a whole box full of those, hand size, large size and toe warmers. Got waders, base layers, thick hiking socks, water proof gloves, and even self heating cups of coffee!
  21. Shoot...never thought of that...should be an interesting trip if they do =D
  22. I've been hearing alot about using eels for large stripers, what do I need to set up an eel rig? and how do I do it? Trying to go for a big one ;D Thanks!
  23. I like berkley's 100% pro grade fluoro and for a cheaper option I love the BPS fluoro. as for knots, many will say uni-uni, it's an easy knot to tie but the knot that forms is too big for me. I personally like the improved albright/alberto knot, the resulting knot is smaller and more streamline making it travel through the guides much better, though it is a TAD more complicated to tie.
  24. I hit the "alert mod" for ya to help get their attention! should be an easy fix =D
  25. Ya, ya guys mind if we tag along? burke has always been pretty much a skunk-hole for me >< learning a thing or 2 would be nice!
