  1. The E feels smoother than the D from what I remember (sold the D a few months back), but the casting distance seems to be about the same, maybe a few yards on the E but not really noticeable with the practice lure I was casting. I also feel that it's smaller than the 101D too, which is pretty darn small! I have yet to catch a fish with it yet since it's rainy here in VA
  2. I had a curado 101D, Citica 201D and Cardiff 201, minus the E7 I actually like the Cardiff the most...I can't really say why! E7>Cardiff>Curado D>Citica
  3. Paired the sucker up with a st croix LT rod...amazingly lightweight and small, I can't say enough about this reel, WOW
  4. Like sam I haven't had too much topwater in Richmond either... but good job at the potomac Vol! gotta love the topwater strikes =D
  5. I'd keep it if it was state or world record, otherwise if it was citation+ i'd take a pic and get a replica. I don't think I'll ever get a 10+ in VA if I do, replica all the way!
  6. Matching the hatch is more of a fly-fishing thing I feel like. Never paid too much attention to it. I doubt a spinnerbait looks anything like any type of forage in any lake anyone fishes. It may resemble bait fish with flashes and vibrations but any fish type swim bait resemebles...fish! No big mystery there. Same goes for buzzbaits. I feel that any natural color will work fine and speed definitely makes a bit of a difference, it depends on the bass you happen to come by and if they're feeding actively. I can burn buzzbaits all day and get hit but my friend who likes to fish slower can do a nice slow buzzing retrieve and get hit also but more frequently and vice versa. See what they want and fish accordingly.
  7. Like muddy preaches... you don't need expensive reels to fish, but... Like RW says... It makes fishing more pleasurable! I'll tend to stick to Baitcasters around the 120-150 or so range (Citicas and Curados). As for spinning reels...I can't seem to spend more than $40 for one and I've never had any problems
  8. When i ordered awhile back I got a jerk bait, a top water sammy, 2x lipless and a deepdiver. they were actually kinda small, more on the line for crappie
  9. good luck out there!
  10. 2.27 in Richmond...I wonder if it'll dip below $2 =D
  11. That's why I'll only stick to rods with accidental coverage like st croix and loomis (the only 2 I know of, are there any more?) If it's not my fault then I'll get it replaced due to the manufactures defect. If it is my fault, I'll get it replaced anyways because it's written in the warranty that I can. You win both ways! stick to loomis or stcroix and there'll be no problems =D
  12. Seal skinz gloves, totally waterproof but you don't get the skin to reel feel when using baitcasters. Takes a little bit to get used to but worth it when fishing in the cold!
  13. They have weedless jitterbugs out there also if you're will to give em a shot, their hooks are like the dual frog hooks where they are only facing upwards. I used one of these when fishing through these islands of weeds we have in VA. They're fairly weedless, the only problem I have is hookups, these darn VA bass have a hard time locking in on it and they'll either completely miss or not take them under
  14. Listen to the advice Wayne gives, from what I've heard and read in the SE forum he's the master of the wacky rig!
  15. Nice fish allyn! Swimbaiting looks fun =D
  16. More nova fishing! Went with a friend to fish a part of the potomac near his place. Awesome topwater bites, hit 4x 3lbers! and hooked into a 2-3ft snakehead and fought him a little before his teeth frayed my line up =/ I think these 3's would normally be 2's or so, but they're fattening up for the winter!
  17. So I was driving around work in Richmond, VA looking for some parallel parking, parking is a bit limited so spots are scarce. I'm driving around for about 10mins or so when I someone getting ready to leave..."Yay" I thought... So I wait with my blinker signal on until the person pulls out...and like ya'll know, in order to parallel park properly you have to drive up in front of the spot and reverse into it... Well as soon as I drive up and put my car in reverse ANOTHER car comes and jacks my spot from behind...needless to say I WAS ticked...I reverse and see that it's a woman in about her 40's, I honk at her (slight taps to get her attention) and told her politely that I was waiting for the spot ("excuse me ma'am, I was waiting for that spot") and all she could say was..."I didn't see your name on it"... > Wow... I seriously wanted to slash some tires this morning....
  18. heya Deermaster, I'm in college too, before I worked my @ss off for my Hobie kayak I settled with an inflatable kayak just to get out on the water. I caught my PB (avatar pic) on my inflatable, they are a bit crazy to handle in the wind but for the low price, easy storage and ability to get out on the water made it an easy choice for a poor college student =D
  19. Nice fish! monster swimbait...looking into getting one of those swimbait rods, how do you like the Okuma?
  20. Thanks guys, it was alot of fun, made dropping the $15 for the first fish on LC Sammy almost worth it =P Lies!
  21. The rapala raps work well for me, they're a bit cheaper than the originals too.
  22. amazing deals...need to run and check my local walmart now...
  23. omg take me....need fish! Looks like ya had an awesome day!
  24. I see it at 99.99 =( looks like the deal is dead
  25. I've had some issues with braid twisting...when it does and knots up it's insanely hard to get the knots out, they get into tight little balls. This only happened when I was fishing during the shad run with a spoon so that might have caused some crazy twisting.
