  1. Wow...VCU needs classes like that...I've been waiting 3 years to take BIO 503 - Fish Biology...and not nearly as cool as fly fishing...which i still need alot more practice...less I want more hooks in the neck :'(
  2. Nice fish! I need to give the rez a shot, seems like a nice place to fish
  3. I'm down for snakeheads + kayaks! I wish I could make the time to visit that meeting also, I'd think it'd be a great resource for info on them.
  4. Drove by last night, it looks really good, seems like they've gotten a bunch of shelves set up. Possibly just need to add the final touches like more shelves, decoration and inventory.
  5. no luck in the Richmond Gander mt.
  6. I'd say call up st croix and see what they can do for you. If it's a problem with the rod they'll fix it for you free, it'll just cost you shipping 1 way ($10).
  7. Heya wayne, I've tried your method of rigging but I can never seem to get the worm straight onto the hook like that, any suggestions or tips you could share for rigging like that?
  8. Just got the lure! I'll give it a shot this weekend =D
  9. Wow amazing cats, you gotta show me where to hook into some of those in richmond! My yak has been itching for some water =D
  10. I think the Beaver dam eddie is talking about is in Northern VA arouth the South Riding area. Awesome cats =D
  11. Screw spinnerbaits, I'm throwing paddletails! same here, swimbaits all the way =D! Had a ton of luck with swim senko's last year, maybe try some mattlures this year for another lunker at pocahontas
  12. yea...I was planning to launch down river of belle isle, I had some luck there a few weeks back...I hope the rain doesn't turn the fish off
  13. x2 I'll be there camping out all night if there's some good deals to be had!
  14. Heya Robchoi, I'm down in Richmond too with a Hobie sport, lemme know if you head out to fish down here one day, I'm definitely up for it!
  15. I love st croix rods, as my entire arsenal of rods are st croixs. However for around that price point I'd go with the BPS extreme rods. They go on sale all the time so if they aren't on sale for $60 now wait a little bit and they will be.
  16. looks like it's coming along pretty well to me, but what do I know, I'm not in construction! From what I could see and from what I remember the outside building looks complete. I can see those big signs hanging from the ceiling but that's about it. They need to work on the outside more, paving and such, as well as setting up the shelves.
  17. My right arm is stronger, and can set the hook faster and harder. That's the reason why my rod is in my right hand and all my reels lefties
  18. Nice! another hole to fish from, hopefully they'll regulate this one better than a few of the other public park lakes...seems alot of people take fish legal or not ...
  19. so, went night fishing...worked a buzzbait must of the time the water definitely looked very different at night then in the morning, worked some drop offs and holes that I had marked with the GPS previously without any luck. A small one hit my Buzzbait but nothing to write about. One thing that freaked me out...I was trying to get back to the launch...the launch area is really shallow and there's only one deep trough that leads to the launch. I was paddling in when I hit something with my paddle with a loud thud...at first I thought it was just a log...until it started to freak out, splashing water all over me and it made a beeline to shore. It scared the crap out of me! Interesting trip...lol
  20. for me it depends on the color braid you're using, green or red I feel is ok w/o a leader. High Vis-Bright yellow however...leader it up... also adding a leader on allows for you to keep your braid on infinitely longer since you're only cutting the leader up when tying knots. Food for thought.
  21. The fish in my avatar was my largest, stupid me didn't have a scale. BR Member guesses ranged from 5-7lbs, I stick to 5lb just so i can break it easier =D anyways, it was on a 6'6" BPS extreme MH, the old ones didn't have an action rating on them but it felt like a mod. fast compared to my MHF St croix. Reel was a Shimano Citica 201 with some kind of braid.
  22. That's a good one Sam! Wouldn't have ever thought of that =D might have saved me a towing fee, thanks!
  23. good luck on getting your gear back ron! I would have never thought of getting a scuba club to help get them back, good thinking!
  24. Thinking about night kayak fishing swift creek res this saturday night, anyone interested? and anyone have any hints or tips that could be useful =D? Thanks!
