  1. I like both. I've leaned toward the Spro this year for durability, but a couple run ins with toothy critters and snapping turtles has me thinking about the pad crasher. My 2 cents is the Spro will last longer (catching bass) but if you want to save a few bucks the Booyah is the best bang for the buck. Take money out of it and the Spro poppin frog is my favorite. Not sure if anyone can chime in on the poppin pad crasher?
  2. I still get it. It costs next to nothing. Browse it for a few days then it gets donated to my local library. Just hope the kids don't pay attention to the Winston smokes and Skoal adds...
  3. I have that color in the RI beaver. It's a fancy name for black w/ purple.

I'm chiming in a little late, but didn't want to repeat under a new topic. My buddy is letting me borrow his GoPro as I've always wanted to record a fishing trip. I'm headed to a farm pond where I should get some good footage pretty quick and curious if anyone has an opinion on head mount vs chest mount when bank fishing? I feel like the chest would be more stable, but I fear that I would end up with an hour's worth of video of my hands. The head mount probably offers a better view, but I'm constantly looking around and moving my head, and don't want to get sick when watching the footage I capture. I've watched YouTube examples of both, but curious of the opinions of anyone who records regularly?
  5. If I got delirious after a while, I'd probably give noodling a shot ?
  6. Braking is the most significant difference. XT has 4+1 bearings, SLX is 3+1. XT is a touch heavier, but not enough that you would notice. Besides the technical stuff the SLX is more of a matte finish with a big blue SLX on the side plate, where the XT has a little more gloss to it. Not sure if that matters, or if that has changed during production in the last year. That's all I can think of. Hope it helps. I'll keep it at that unless you would like to know which I would buy.
  7. Buzzbait, spinnerbait, jig for me here in western PA.
  8. I feel bad for their customer service team on this one. They're going to take a lashing with all the items that are out of stock. Most likely, that's out of their control with suppliers/manufacturers. I know there have been a lot of complaints about the lack of sales recently, but you can only work with what you have. I've ordered twice during the pandemic and IMO they've done everything they can to deliver as best they could. Hopefully the majority of people will appreciate the effort...
  9. Made it to Green Top. Pretty cool place once I was able to navigate my way around the line at the gun counter ?. Appreciate the tip.
  10. Anyone else thinking about the 1990 (I think) Classic when Clunn was recorded to make 2,300+ casts in a day? That'll keep ya busy! Please know the electronics I use are basic. I'm about a decade behind in that category. But, if time permits I'll drag a Carolina rig around to feel what I can't see, and it's been known to catch a fish every once in a while. Also helpful to interpret what your screen is showing. I save the knots and organization and time consuming activities to the winter. We get hard water, so when I'm able to be on the water, I'm fishing.
  11. The world of retail jigs is overwhelming and expensive. If you have confidence in chartreuse and black, buy the heads you want (or make them if you're into that) and tie your own skirts. It'll cost you about half the price of a typical store bought jig and it will be exactly what you want. Or, get in touch with @Siebert Outdoors Mike makes some crazy good jigs and his prices are very reasonable.
  12. The Daiwa Aird X is by far the best "budget" spinning rod I own. It'll run about $55 dollars, but cheaper if you can find it on sale. I'm biased to Shimano reels, and any of them will work. If you can spend a few extra dollars and can find the Sedona 2500 size, that's a solid reel at a very reasonable price. They retail around $70. Hope that helps.
  13. Update: Fished the North River for 6 hours yesterday. The fishing was better than I expected. Our guide said it was picking up and he saw 2 largemouth 8#+ in late July/early August prior to the recent hurricane. Put together about 25 bites between me and my buddy. A few topwater bites early (wiffed on a big one that toilet bowled a frog ? my fault) and spent most of the day pitching and flipping wood. There is A LOT of wood. Overall is was a good experience. I don't think it's full of giants, but I don't think a 20# bag is out of the question. From what I gathered, it's a constant struggle of recover, hurricane, reset and repeat.
  14. -Ned w/ Zoom Beatdown or (what's left of) F&S Sugar Stix on Morel head -Drop shot -Keitech Easy Shiner
  15. The wives are trailing us in another vehicle and we're banking on it being part of a "rest stop". As much as I like that idea, it's not happening lol
  16. Thanks. I'm certainly open to options. Looks like it's only a few minutes south of the bass pro. Is that the right place?
  17. Headed down I95 this Sunday and wondering if it's worth jumping off to visit the Ashland Bass Pro Shops? Mostly looking for sales and in house brand plastics but I know shelves are bare at a lot of tackle stores... Any insight is appreciated!
  18. Admittedly I spend most of my time fishing in and around grass. Sure I'll run a buzzbait along a lay down or pitch into it, but I'm trying to make an effort to fish more wood cover and become better and more confident with it. I have to think that most of my apprehension comes from the fear or snagging up all day and ruining high percentage areas, but I know I'm missing out on bites by not fishing it more thoroughly. So, could you help me out with how you attack different types of wood cover? And is this an area where fluoro gets the nod over braid?
  19. Suppose it's better that way, or this forum would accomplish the exact opposite of what it was intended for ?
  20. No worries. I think we can all agree those are reasonable questions to ask.
  21. Catfish, yes. Turtles, absolutely. But our Gators are small and furry and we call them muskrats lol.
  22. I've killed 3 bass this summer. For me, that's 3 too many. And, I'll admit that at least one of them probably could have been avoided. Negligence/in a hurry on my part. I know it happens, but it does make me feel bad and it's not my intention to harvest my catches. Just needed to get that out there. So if fish could read, my sincerest apologies.
  23. Nope, not you. I upgraded my split ring pliers thinking the same thing and it continued to happen. Currently using Texas Tackle split ring pliers and my replacements are Owner Hype Wire. Unless you have a giant pile of miscellaneous lures from every company known to man, you'll figure out pretty quick which come with decent hardware and which are not so great.
  24. Side by side they difference is apparent. And I can tell after throwing the 8.5 for a while and then picking up the 7.2. I'm figuring this accounts for some of the .2 oz weight difference, also. ^^^ truth.
