  1. Camo? It comes in the new coontail pattern?
  2. Nailed it!
  3. The term river is relative. What is a river to you may be a stream to me. Regardless, the desire to feed up prior to the spawn drives where I want to start. I want flats or even better, flat points with current running over it in 3 to 12 feet of water provide feeding areas. Fish can move up and down quickly. Anything that can break the current is targeted. Lipless and spinnerbaits do well. Mid depth crankbaits also cover lots of water. If fish aren’t aggressive I like a jerkbait . I will also work main river access points to spawning areas and cover those locations with the same baits. Plastics come into play at the spawn and post spawn. That’s my direction in April.
  4. There is only one dilemma. As the sport grows, and sport related sales increase, will States and Counties recognize the trend and make appropriate or proportionate improvements to fisheries and accessibility. I’m not seeing anything close to that in my state.
  5. What used to be inexpensive is now expensive. If it’s out of your price range or expectation buy something else.
  6. I’ve heard this spinnerbait is some special. For you folks that like it, why?
  7. Hardcore Drum. Not made anymore.
  8. That would be a great question for Bobby Garland.
  9. The rapid reduction in bowling alleys.
  10. Never pet a cat that sprayed in your boat.
  11. Contact the guys in the Capitol City Bass Club. It’s a good club and a great way to get on the water and get information. I would throw in American Lake out of Steelicom if you have a boat or Kayak. The hallowed Silver Lake isn’t so hallowed right now. Riffe and Swafford Pond near Morton are worth looking at.👍👍
  12. I have some Edge rods. My experiences have been good to very good. The real benefit to Edge models is the level of sensitivity. For a frog rod, I don’t see the need for a high degree of sensitivity so I would consider that. If you want try an Edge rod for frogs, the EFX Pro MBR 736-1 would be a great choice. It will also fill in as a heavy jig or pitchin rod. In all honesty, a Dobyns Champion 736C gives the Edge a real run for the money.
  13. Even more important than learning a technique/presentation is knowing when and where to apply it. That be my focus.
  14. Bass may not utilize soft bottom areas during the spawn. Hard bottoms or surfaces prevent the eggs for being silted over and generally provide clearer water for light penetration to aid in the incubation of the eggs. After the spawn soft bottoms can become feeding areas if crayfish that burrow are present. Bass adapt. Smallmouth will be less inclined to frequent soft bottoms because wind or current surges or rapid tidal changes can stir the mud or silt and reduce visibility. Smallmouth are more of a sight feeder than large mouth. These are generalities and not absolute. There are also periods in the fall when baitfish get ultra shallow on flats that have “ mud” bottoms and running those flats can be really productive. i fish tidal affected sloughs with what is considered a muddy bottom. Those areas can be great. So can transition ares where mud abuts rocky edges. I target those edges. Hope this helps.
  15. That deserves more than a thumb down.
  16. Wacky rigged green pumpkin Senko.
  17. Context and perspective. NFC went through a reconfiguration before the lockdown. That didn’t help anything. The firm reconfigured again and brought in a new CEO and marketing people. This took place during the lockdown. Design staff under Gary Loomis remained intact. NFC’s meat and potato’s had always been steelhead, salmon and off shore. The unforeseen increase in bass related demands during COVID created a market shift for NFC and the addition of the new technology and component design pushed demand for bass rods. NFC also experienced a huge increase in the demand for inshore models. In attempt to meet the demand, Gary Loomis more than tripled the size of the facility. They added a Pro Shop. I was told by Alex/aCEO plans to add a pro shop in a major city that is in the heart of bass and inshore. Thats what NFC is. Blanks are a huge part of the business. Finished rods get time allocations to run The various rod types and then the models. There is a certain time of the year when sales on bass rods or specific bass related models are offered . I’ve purchased stock on hand and ordered and waited 21 to 33 days for delivery and like Dwight, took advantage of a sale on a special model and it came with a wait. Part of the delay was unavailable guide sets used only on this model. Companies dissolve or evolve. Edge is a viable option for any bass angler. Bad press from the past may not accurately portray how it runs now. I have zero ties to Edge other than a customer. Drag up an old thread is fine but things change. By the way, I urged a sales rep to consider becoming a BR sponsor.
  18. Ziplock freezer bags for soft baits. Hard baits in packages go in plastic shoe boxes. All else get 3700 boxes.
  19. If you think you might like a little faster action, the Kaden 712SF is really nice. The Champion 732SF and 733SF are built on the first generation Extreme blanks and are a step above.
