  1. I’m staying close to home, two hours or less. I want to spend some time on the lower Columbia hitting some sloughs and channels off the main River. The longer days will be in the Gorge around the Dalles. My home lake, a shallow bowl will get some attention this year. I purposely stayed off it last year. I’ll be happy with that. Fun fishing only for 2024.
  2. For me, 2024 will be the year of liquidation.
  3. Here’s some factors that dictate choices for me. Profile: A jig can create a big profile without a lot of actual mass. Adjust trailers to fine tune the profile whether it’s a baitfish or crayfish. T rigs tend to have smaller profiles but can be much longer when using a worm. Rate of Fall: When slow fall is what I’m looking for, a jig is the deal. You can get a slow fall with a T rig with no or small weight but you loose the benefits of penetrating cover. It’s much easier to get a fast fall rate with plastics. Penetration: Plastics get the nod when cover is heavy and snaggy, especially vegetation. I like jigs in wood however. There are jigs with screw locks however that provide bulk and more effective penetrating ability and less hang ups. Action: If I’m looking for slower subtitles a jig with the right trailer. When wiggles and waggles seem to be a triggering issue the T rigged plastic shines. Lizards, Brush Hogs and such do great. There’s also something about the flare and collapse of a jigs skirt that just lends itself in cooler water. Like Catt, both in some form 24-7-365. l like 7-3 or longer in MH, H and Extra fast. 👍
  4. Pretty difficult to narrow down a model without knowing the specifics of what baits you throw and how you fish them. Rod technology has come far faster since the Eagle Claw Reese series. Some consideration should be given to Champion 705CB, 764CB, 805 CB, 765CB Glass and the Alpha Angler Rebound and Mag Rebound. If your budget doesn’t permit those options, the Lews KVD series of crankbait rods might be another option. There’s plenty more. Happy shopping.
  5. Anthropometric? That must have been the concept used by Bass Pro Shops when they came out with the Power Hump.
  6. I would think that 1/2 ounce to 5/8 ounce would be the sweet spot for rods mentioned. Jigs, heavy t-rigs, C rigs, wobble heads, frogs, bigger whopper ploppers, and S Wavers. Spinnerbaits in the 1/2 to 1 ounce are also in play.
  7. Yamatanuki Walking baits
  8. Seventy plus so $7.50.
  9. I’m sorry but I have to one up you. My wife went all out for Christmas and got me a bottle of Prevogen, a Copper Fit knee brace and a Popeye Pez dispenser. That’s what 50 years of marriage gets you. Here’s some sage advice to you younger folks, when your wife tells you should go fishing, check your wallet before you leave.
  10. Beef. .377 of a cord of cotton wood. A little less for hard woods. The one in your glass.
  11. Glenn has mentioned that the number of new members has grown dramatically. How cool is that. What might that mean? Two things. Questions and responses. New members bring various levels of experience so we all have questions and in many cases, responses that may provide a true answer. I think this is the foundation of BR. If you are reading this and have a question then don’t hesitate to ask it. If you have a response or even want to expand the question, kick in. This forum has so much diversity and levels of experience it would be a shame not to capitalize on it. Who’s first? CC
  12. Prowler craw chunk. BPS has it’s own versions as well.
  13. Is that one of those viewers to inspect your sewer line?
  14. Siebert Outdoor mini swim jig. I would check out his web site.
  15. Merry Christmas Glenn. I was going to get you a gift but I have absolutely no idea what you like to do or where you’re interests lie.
  16. It’s the pits trying to select a rod when you haven’t tried it in your own hands. I can only make a suggestion based on what I have fished or still fish. Here’s what I have confidence in with three budget options: Champion DC736XP FH. Extremely active tip that transitions to big power quickly. The tip allows you to walk the frog and the power to move big fish and buried fish easily. Kaden K715C Very similar tip to power but the rod has slightly less power than the 736 Fury 735C. Slower action and the lock up takes place deeper into the blank but it has ample power. This model makes a good jig rod.
  17. Something shorter and wider such as a Rage Bug or Sweet Beaver and then something longer and slender such as a Baby Brush Hog, Man Bear Pig or Hawgwalla. It’s a contrast of profiles.
  18. I decline to respond under the advice of my attorney.
  19. Senator, I cannot confirm nor deny the purchase of that reel without clarification of your context of the term, “ purchase.”
  20. I sent three of my older reels to Mike for service and upgrades/repair. They are back and Mike did a fantastic job. Zillion 1016 is like new, SV103 is butter and my Ballistic EX is better that new. If anyone has a doubt about where to go for full service reel work, DVT is the deal.
  21. As a new angler, I wouldn’t get wrapped up in that aspect of a spinning reel. Labeling a lure or reel as finesse is pretty subjective. Your questions are totally valid. Don’t stop asking 👍
  22. I’m with Dwight. The 131 has been impressive. I have two setups with 30 and one with 40 lb. and couldn’t be happier. I might try that Gukeden or however you spell it. We shall see.
