  1. All right!!! I’m tearing one of the legs off on every one of my frogs and more important, my duck lure.
  2. For largemouth I have a feeling a Keitech Fat on a flashy swimmer hook. Smallmouth, Super Spook or a Z Boss 20. When reality sets in, with my luck, a crappie jig.
  3. My buddy has known Daiwa pro, Cody Meyer since Cody was a kid. Randy asked Cody for two autographed hats, one to auction to raise funds for our clubs TBF team. Those boys made nationals. Randy asked Cody for a hat for me. What a surprise!
  4. Would a brand new Ike in 6.6 ratio for 139.99 change anyone’s mind?
  5. There was a time when a true glass rod was desirable. An example was the Lamiglas SR705R. It was hard to build a rod that had the characteristics of glass in an all graphite rod. Not anymore. There are numerous rod companies that have achieved the slower, more moderate actions with that “forgiveness” that glass advocates tout. With that, your price point has limited a decent all glass rod as an option. Composites will get you close and a graphite CB model will hit your budget. I would take a serious look at the Dobyns Maverick 705CB. For those who have a Fury 705CB, the Maverick fishes the same at 99.99. Something to consider.
  6. Dobyns Beast and Stanley Vibrashaft. War Eagle has a model with the weight in the body. These are all viable.
  7. If I can do it, anyone can.?
  8. Some bass transition from from one body of water to another through a natural process that employs what is referred to as a live well.
  9. Enjoy the ride!!
  10. Here’s a consideration: the Sobi signature series has a 724C. When or if you call Dobyns you can ask for Brice and explain what you’re looking to achieve. I have some experience with Dobyns rods and the Xtreme series once it was updated to the current blank stepped up in the sensitivity and the actions became faster. If your budget permits, and upgrade to a 704 or 744 would surprise you. If not, the 724 could be a nice fit.
  11. Glad to meet you. The tackle monkey lurks here so beware.?
  12. I’m right with you. Rods hands down. It’s always been that. I used to build rods, steelhead, surf, fly, trout and bass rods. The rods out there for us is truly amazing. Rods all day.
  13. I would have screwed it up.
  14. When I see a new lure/bait, I generally have to know what scenario it would most likely be viable or even really good. An example is the Dark Sleeper. When it went on the pegs and I saw it in person, I knew exactly where and when it should show off. It did. They choked it. It is a little more iffy with some other lure types like drop shot baits. So many are replicated with very subtle differences but they are a disposable bait and you go through them so they eventually pay off. Hard baits are troublesome. I young guy I know went to a sportsman’s show years ago and asked a product rep to pick out a hand full of hard baits. Well that didn’t go well. But yes you can get caught up in buying nuanced colors that it becomes redundant.
  15. If my nasal polyps ever return I’ll know who to call. If you ever attend an autopsy, you will want this with you. Same for dead whales washed up on the beach. The soothing menthol vapors open up airways for immediate relief so can get a good nights sleep or place a small amount on yours jigs and plastics so you won’t be interrupted by untimely strikes by overly aggressive bass.
  16. Clearly I’ve fulfilled my goal of staying under the radar.? As for A Jay, if, and I say if, he was in the running, he’s fallen off. I surmised this because he failed to have his annual A Jay’s Bait and Tackle inventory reduction sale. I look forward each year to two things, A Jay’s sale and having my teeth cleaned.
  17. Enjoy the ride!
  18. Anyone acquire one yet? Thoughts or opinions ? Rants , raves, brutal truth or outright lies?
  19. Carne Asada
  20. I’m set. I ain’t kiddin’ neither!
  21. I can’t say any angler inspired me. Several peeked my interest to become a better angler. Early on there was a core group including Roland Martin, Larry Nixon, Harold Allen and Tommy Martin. Later on several west coast guys seemed more relatable. Mike Folkstad, Rich Tauber, Greg Hines, Gary Dobyns , Gary Klein and Levell Sneed.
