Dick's Sporting Goods deals
I'll drop in and check it out anyway. Monday does seem like an odd day for a sale to end. When I was in retail the sales usually started on a Sunday and ended on a Saturday. Yes, they usually do. I'm not sure why this one is different.

Good deal @ Dick's
Naturally, and as usual, the Kport Dicks doesn't have anything worth buying. Went in there last week to use a gift card and a rewards certificate. Was planning on buying a rod, they have gotten rid of their premium rods (Loomis, etc.). Ended up getting $150 worth of salt blocks for $18. Mine doesn't carry any premium rods either, but after seeing how many customers come in and fold rods in half, I can understand it.

I offered to buy a display treestand a month ago, they wouldn't sell it. Yeah, that's different. For safety reasons store policy is not to sell display treestands to customers. employees on the other hand.... I nabbed this for $70 not to mention two chair blinds for $20 total.

Double check with your store but I know it ended at my store today. I picked up a 6'6" L/F St Croix Premier for $40 to use as a perch rod.

Tuck, Were those Sonars complete with cables too? The Dicks in Vestal NY had a few but only the unit itself. They were clearly display models and were a bit beat up, but I still thought they were pretty good prices. I'm just not sure how easy it is to find all the components. Funny you ask, they were when I was there last week, but I went back tonight to see if I could pick up a garmin unit for another member on this forum, and all they had left were the floor models, without cables and 'ducers. They said they could give the cut up cables to sort through but it greatly cheapened the deal. I did pick up all the $2 rage tail chunks and $5 sonic braid that I left behind last week. I have never tried ragetail before because IMO they are overpriced but now that I have 19 packs of chunks and craws that I got for $2 a pop I hope that they live up to the hype they get on this forum You should grab those display models! I would imagine cables and other pieces are easy enough to order from MinnKota. Most times managers would be willing to get rid of those display units at very low cost just to get them out of the system.

Remington Model 700 CNBC Documentary
I was under the impression that the new X-Mark Pro triggers are updated to prevent misfiring. FWIW, the original designer stated that the design is fine, it's the manufacturing that has been the problem in the past.

Sale at Dicks AllStar Rod With a Revo S For $50.00?
Was it the one with the charger included? They're more like ~$200, but I picked one up too. For $94 it was hard not to.

My new sissy stick is on the way
I've been looking at those rods for a little while. I want to get either an UL or L to use as for a perch rod.

Lingerie football
I was surprised by how well they play. They hit hard, run fast, and throw well, especially for girls.

What to expect when you get your first job.
the biggest thing I have found about retail is that you must work on your tolerance for stupidity.

What to expect when you get your first job.
Are you going to be full-time? AFAIK, most retailers don't offer benefits to part timers.

Check your Dicks Sporting Goods
You know I could have used this advice earlier... ;D I don't know why I didn't think of that.Ahhh well....No biggie... It sucks, but there isn't any notice of stuff being changed to clearance. Everything has to be scanned to find out what has become clearance so it kinda tends go unnoticed. In our store the tackle sale is going on until at least the 24th. Check back at your store for updated price stickers or ask an associate to scan a few things for you to find out if they have been changed to clearance.

Make sure you get someone to check a price for you, especially anything that ends with a .97 or .93. Chances are that it will have an additional discount right now. Also, some of the clearance stuff probably isn't marked because in order to find out stuff is clearance we have to manually scan each item so some stores might not have the right stickers on the right pegs unless they've recently scanned their whole tackle departments.

Obviously different regions have different inventory to appeal to different types of fishing and popular game fish unique to a given region (ie: we recently had a bunch of stuff that would be considered steelhead stuff that we transferred to a store in New York because we couldn't move it here). As far as differing inventories within a given region and district, it's going to depend on store size (my store is a single story and we have a limited tackle selection whereas a store about 20 minutes from here is a two story store that has a much better selection because they have much more room). Also, some stores are going to be classified as "low-volume tackle stores" based on their sales. That can be influenced by how busy the store is and how well the lodge team maintains the merchandise. Beyond that I couldn't tell you.

Dan, tell that to the Roanoke store if you dont mind. Nothing seperated and only a few things actually marked (red sticker) as clearance items. Luckily, I took what I wanted (that was not red tagged) and got the guy to scan the stuff and it came up on clearance, plus the extra 50% off. I'm sure there's tons of other stuff thats supposed to be marked that isn't. I meant it is a task that should be getting done through the next month, depending on the region. Keep checking the Roanoke store, if their managers are keeping up with their assignments the clearance items should be separated from normal stock in each aisle in the coming month or so. Be patient, it's a particularly lengthy process at a time when man hours are not abundant. If that does happen it will be the first time ever happening like that at that particular store. It's entirely possible that it won't happen, depending on the store and district managers. I don't know if this is a new process either. All I know is that was the direction we received from corporate as we prepare for spring. I would think that mine and your district manager would be the same dude. I'll probably go by again in a few days to check for any new developments. I know 100% that we are in different districts. We are most likely in the same region but I'd have to check to make sure. The westernmost store in our district is near Dulles Airport and our southernmost store is in Fredericksburg. The district managers make routine trips to check on their stores but regional managers do not.

This must be true. The one closest to me has only a few LC's (Pointers and Sammy's in sucky colors) but the rest of the selection of other brands is pretty decent overall. The Rage Baits on sale here were the Shads and Toads and that was it. All other RT baits were regular price. The Yamamoto rack was totally stocked to the max so I knew none of that was marked down. I remember last year I got 30+ bags of GYCB baits for like $2.49 a bag. Senko's, Flappin' Hawgs, DT Grubs....that was a major score right there. No such luck this time. Dick's may not have the best of everything like a BPS or Cabela's but it sure beats the heck out of Wal Mart and the Gander Mtn here is so expensive I have decided to just boycott that store unless it's just a flat out emergency. At our store only the Anacondas and Space Monkeys seem to be on sale. My guess is that the sales will vary at least by district. I wouldn't have guessed that stores within the same district would have different sales but Jimzee's experience suggests that it is entirely possible unless for some reason his stores are in different districts.

Clearance items should be separated from the normal stock and labeled through the next month or so until it's all sold.
