  1. That's a NICE brown. somebody posted a pic of a trout caught on a Rapala DT crankbait a while back. I never really understood catching rainbows on baits that imitate baitfish. I understand a Brown trout going after a bigger baitfish because from what I know, their diets include more fish than other trout species. But rainbow are supposed to be bug eaters...
  2. That's usually the case with free antiviruses. They give you the scanner but not the full-time protection. In any case, I would recommend (as I have before) to BUY a program that does both. If you are smart and careful on the internet, a free AV program will be all the protection you need, but if you want the best protection or engage in risky internet activity (downloading music, movies, programs, XXX sites, etc...) you may want to buy a program. Some of the top rated programs are PC-Cillin (although I found it to use a lot of system resources), NOD32, Kaspersky, and BitDefender. Also a new program that has been highly rated is Vipre. If you really want or need the best protection, you should buy a program, specifically one of the highly rated programs. Free AV programs are ok but they pretty much NEVER have as good detection or protection ratings as bought programs.
  3. so very tempting. But I made up my mind to make my next reel a Daiwa. Probably a Zillion.
  4. My advice: Don't wait. I said the same thing. I wanted to start a club but I kept pushing it aside. Now I'm about to graduate and too busy to have any time left for a club. You may end up regretting it if you put it off.
  5. Why the heck not?
  6. I have limited use with carrots but I own a LTB spinning rod and I will say I believe the LTBs are better. I think they are great rods.
  7. They used the same demonstration on me at the Richmond show. The one thing I noticed was that the rods I looked at had really crappy line guides.
  8. ok, good. Just making sure you are fully equipped for the mission. An UL setup would be fun but I wouldn't want to be using one with a PB on the line...
  9. Wow. I didn't know so many members were from that area. I was born in Lewistown, my dad's parents live in Mifflintown, and my mom's parents live in Port Royal. I've only fished the river a few times and we just floated between Mifflintown and Port Royal. I would reconsider using an ultralight for smallmouth. It will work for smaller fish but the Juniata has large fish in it. I would go with at least a Medium bass rod. It will make it much easier to hook and land fish. I would also use the same size baits you use for largemouth. Tubes, jerkbaits, topwaters, cranks, worms, anything. Same sizes.
  10. Dan: replied to Pitchinkid's topic in Everything Else
I had one the other night where I was sort of like Robocop but I could fly. Some of my dreams are completely random and make no sense but others are like long, drawn out movies that I almost wish I would write down when I woke up. I swear to God I had one that was a crime drama that could win awards but a few hours after waking up I couldn't remember any of it.
  11. I live in NoVA and Harrisonburg while I'm at school. I fish the local lakes in NOVA and the Shenandoah river system and lake shenandoah while at school.
  12. I think the most obvious solution is to purchase a fanny pack...
  13. I agree with Bassn Blvd. Would it have been ok for him to break into a store to steal food because he was homeless? No. Bad circumstances don't justify breaking the LAW. When we start allowing that to happen then everything starts getting messy. Now, he can use it as a defense at trial and he very well might get sympathy from jurors, but I wouldn't give him any.
  14. I can't believe that is a real headline...
  15. True. That's why I was looking for some primitive spots. No one to kick us out.
  16. Sam, don't go out of your way for me. I think Memo is going to tell me what he saw down there when he gets back from his trip.
  17. Yeah, we were thinking about those spots but we want to include a road trip and also visit somewhere we haven't been. Thanks for all the ideas guys, keep them coming
  18. Technically they were vampires.
  19. I would love to do the canoeing thing but I don't think my roommates would be ok with it. None of them are fishermen.
  20. Does anyone know of any good places to camp in the Southeast US? My roommates and I are looking to maybe go on a camping trip for spring break. I'd like to keep it in the Southeast (east of the Mississippi and South of Maryland) and preferably close to some bass fishing. I'd also like a place that isn't in the mountains (don't want it to be too cold) and is pretty primitive (not a place with a lot of people) and that allows fires and alcohol. State parks, national parks, whatever you can give me.
  21. I always thought the Enthusiast section was pretty well separated from the others. I find a lot of useful information about rods and reels that interest me and almost all that stuff is newer and under $300. Check the "Reels" and "Rods" sections. Each has plenty of stuff from Daiwa, Shimano, Abu Garcia, Pflueger, Quantum, etc.. that is under $300, $200 and even $100. Like Burley said, their focus is on their passion for the fancy, pretty, foreign, and luxurious. So that's what they cover. That's just the type of site it is...
  22. I'm thinking about making a trip soon to pick up a Cumara but it's two hours away. If any of you guys are planning on making a trip soon I'd really appreciate it if you could check out the spinning models they have available.
  23. I agree, I think people get confused by the name "Smallmouth." They do have smaller mouths, but I don't think they know it.
  24. lol, Yoozee lures. I don't think I could go in there and persist like that. I would get too angry and get myself banned or something.
  25. I always think about it as a perch color that is made to be seen in dirty water.
