  1. I want to get CoD 4 but I don't think my PC can handle it.. :'( Looks amazing though. Might go halves with my roommate for the XBOX version..
  2. I caught a bluegill on a DT-6 one time...
  3. I've seen Carp doing that at huntsman many times, that's probably what it was.
  4. I might be able to make it out to fish somewhere in the Nova area on thanksgiving because I'll be home, let me know if you guys make another outing then.
  5. JCrzy, try soft jerkbaits like a fluke, preferably in a brown or green color. Twitch them fast on the surface then just let them sink into holes, behind rocks, etc...Probably my #1 smallie bait overall. Close second is a shakey head worm. I haven't fished this area, let me know how you do. So that lake in the google earth picture IS private? Looks like a place to check out if it's not. And Lake Jackson IS private?
  6. Fundamentally, but perhaps not technically. A lot of the legality issues are centered around where the actual servers are located...ie outside the US=US law doesn't apply sometimes.
  7. The Gander Mtn in Ashland is MUCH better than the one in Fredericksburg. I don't know how they will stock but it is much nicer and larger and they have a WAY better firearms section.
  8. Good luck, LBH. I really do hope you catch some nice ones. Every angler should experience the fun of smallmouth fishing.
  9. I went home with my roommate for fall break this past weekend and I had been dying to go to Greentop ever since I heard about it so I convinced him to take me. All I can say is WOW. That place is awesome. If you guys ever go near Richmond, you should stop in. THey've got EVERYTHING. My favorite part is how many smaller and unique lure companies they carry. I saw a lot of products I hadn't seen in stores before, not even Bass Pro.
  10. Haven't fished there, but that is pretty extreme. The leaves are starting to look pretty, though

Man, it really is an exciting year of football. I don't have any dogs in the fight but I really love when nothing is certain and anything can happen, it's sooo much more exciting.
  12. I've used the giggy stick for shakey heading. It's awesome. The tube part in the back traps air so the tail floats up which makes it great for shakey heading. They have some really interesting colors too.

Thanks for all the advice guys, I knew I would get some informed answers here. I'm going to check with my grandpa who I know has either a .243 or a .270 to see if he might be willing to part with it. Hopefully he will because as a college student I don't have the money to buy one as of now but hopefully will by next summer.

yeah, I was thinking a 243 or a 270 would probably be what I want. Any more make/model suggestions for those calibers?
  15. I know lots of you guys hunt. I was thinking about getting a rifle and was hoping I could get some advice. I want something that I can do a lot of target shooting with and also some hunting. (Mostly small-medium game, maybe deer if I can). I have never shot before. I don't want to spend more than $400. Can you guys give me some decent calibers and models to look at that fit these criteria?
  16. I saw a show one time (I think it was North American Fisherman) where the host caught a smallmouth that had the head of a jighead sticking out it's anus. He carefully grabbed the head and maneuvered the hook out of the fish's digestive system. Maybe this fish had eaten something it wasn't supposed to and it got infected/inflammed?
  17. I love the Unit. I missed the season premier but I watched it online. I can't wait to find out what's going on. Great show. I liked the old theme song better though.
  18. Sounds like what you want to do is catch a big sturgeon. So what's the problem? If you want to go after dinofish and have time to do so, DO IT! Just do what you want to do, there's no reason to deprive yourself of something you want to do if you have the time.
  19. I usually use 6lb test for smallies, sometimes 8 if it's a really rocky river. I used to have trouble with hookups on smallies when I used big hooks. Try using a smaller hook, sometimes they get better penetration in the small mouths of smallies. If you are using braid, remember to use a lighter hookset. On topwaters, make sure to pause after the fish takes the bait. Setting the hook immediately will lose fish. Wait until you feel the weight of the fish to set the hook.

I really wish I had spent my time more wisely in high school. I did well and I had fun but I really miss it now, especially all of my close friends and playing sports. I still think I met my closest friends in high school. I remember we used to always complain about how little there was to do and how boring being in high school was but sometimes I feel like I would give a lot to be back to that simplicity. Getting responsibility for independence is a harsh deal sometimes.
  21. yeah, really. There are days that I would give anything to have that smell on my hands... I wish I had known this tip the first time I tried to catch catfish with that blood dough bait. My hands smelled for 3 days after touching that stuff....
  22. Well, I'm glad you enjoyed them, but those ain't really BBQ ribs! The meat is the cheapest cut available (referred to as "St. Louis ribs") and they are baked in an commercial oven. Corky's are worse or should I say "less consistant." I am on a Memphis In May BBQ team, The "Parrothead Porkers" of Hogaritaville. WE COOK RIBS! Slow smoked babybacks are competative ribs. The commercial ribs in Memphis just don't cut it in my book. I don't care what they were, they were great, there's a reason that FoodTV has showcased them in several shows
  23. RW, aren't you from right outside of Memphis?!?! And you're saying the best BBQ places are in Kansas City!?! I've never eaten KC BBQ but I went to Rendezvous in Memphis this summer and they were the best ribs I've ever had.
  24. Why? Are there no white bass in that fishery?

Another skins fan here. I agree, Campbell looked good. I was also happy to see Gibbs go for a touchdown instead of a field goal after those stupid penalties on the goal line. This skins team seems like they want to win, something I thought they lacked in recent years. With the Eagles and Giants at 0-2 it looks like the NFC East might be between the Redskins and Cowboys, can't wait for those games.
