  1. Hold it my friend, just because you see somebody reeling in steadily at X speed doesn 't mean it 's the one and only way to fish the bait. You know how to fish jerkbaits don 't you ? You know how to fish cranks don 't you ?, You know how to fish topwaters don 't you ? You have to experiment different types of retrieval alone or in combination until you find the one who makes the fish bite the bait, that 's it, no "secrets" . I get more bites with that bait just by letting sit there and twitching it ocassionaly than by reeling it in steadily. Perfect I will experiment different rates of retrieve man im going swimming after this bait if i lose it. Thats the nice thing about the floating baits. Just a bit easier to retrieve when they break off...
  2. What? Did you just say "yute"? What is a "yute"? Sorry for the My Cousin Vinny movie reference ;D
  3. Its a wake bait. Fish it over shallow emerging grass, points, humps etc. Same place you would fish all the techniques Raul mentioned.
  4. Got a link?
  5. I know a guy in Alabama that can make you an original design. : :
  6. I think you might want to read up on some info from a qualified professional... Eating bass over 1.5lbs because they have already spawned a number of times? : Keep what you want within the legal limits, but your line of thinking is wrong.
  7. Ok, thanks Kent. All I know is those things had a great big profile, a great looking skirt and just plain looked "fishy"
  8. Good deal. Are those the ones that you showed me in Alabama? (If you happen to recall)
  9. How much $$$ do you want to take them off your hands?
  10. You will run into some people that think it is NEVER ok to keep a fish. While keeping the larger fish could potentially hurt your fishery, as long as you are within the law...no one can say a thing to you about it. I'm sure you are well aware that the smaller fish (legal size and just above) will taste better than an old cow bass. I practice catch and release for a few reasons. The first is conservation. I realize that some fish must be harvested in order to maintain an appropriate ratio of number of bass for the habitat, but I will just waste them and there are enough others around here that will keep them. The second reason is that I dont care for the taste of bass. While I am sure they can be prepared to make a fantastic meal, I prefer to eat panfish or sea-caught fish. Third reason is...well, honestly cleaning fish is a PITA to me. I think people, especially new posters, get some grief because they show pictures of themselves holding large bass somewhere in their kitchen or a place obviously well away from the water. Like I said before, if you caught the fish lawfully, there isnt much anyone can say about you keeping the fish. Posting pictures of a big bass, dead in the kitchen, will seem offensive to the membership here. My advice (not worth a whole bunch)....Take a pic of the fish at the lake, tell people what you caught it on, mabybe even where you caught it. Just take a picture of a healthy, live fish and leave it at that. Wayne
  11. Not insulting your intelligence, but use a small snap swivel. Fix ya right up As far as the Vibrax, I havent used the small ones since I stopped fishing for trout. The larger tandem bucktails are a great spinner to burn for muskies. That little blade on them makes just enough thump...
  12. From Yahoo this morning Michael Phelps eats 12,000 calories per day By Chris Chase After he retires from swimming, Michael Phelps might want to try his hand at competitive eating. The Olympic star recently said he consumes 12,000 calories per day, or 9,500 more than the FDA recommends for an active, young male. Phelps has to keep his intake up in order to compensate for all the calories he burns during the 30-hours per week he spends in training. He told NBC that an average day might have the following menu: Breakfast: 3 fried egg sandwiches, 2 cups coffee, 5-egg omlette, bowl of grits, 3 pieces of french toast, 3 chocolate chip pancakes Lunch: 1 pound pasta, 2 ham and cheese sandwiches, energy drink (1,000 calorie) Dinner: 1 pound pasta, 1 large pizza, energy drink (1,000 calorie)
  13. Need I remind you of the Calcutta DC debacle? : LOL, that was entertaining....
  14. Kent, I tried that one. Still says "timed out". I am not on a slow connection, actually pretty quick. This has been a consistent issue for me. I have tried it on other computers as well. Guess I will keep trying... Thanks.
  15. For some reason, every time I try and go to the Micro Munch website, the page will not load. I have tried typing the name in as an address, doing a google search and clicking on the link in some members' signature line. Each time, the page will not load. Anyone know what gives? Roadwarrior showed me some BIG jigs he got from there and paired them with a big Sweet Beaver. That thing had a sick profile. Gotta have 'em!!! Thanks fellas.
  16. Why on earth would you put the plastic worm in there (many times as you say) thinking in the back of your mind that the fish might die... Sometimes I just dont get people.... Seriously? : Anyway, as Bobby has said before...Confidence is the biggest influence in this debate. Fishing a bait you have confidence in will always work better for you. If adding one (or more) of the myriad scents out there to your bait makes you 100% certain you are going to catch more fish, then I am pretty sure you are going to catch fish. Sorry I am so un-scientific. It never really was my thing. Wayne
  17. Buddy, if I can swing it, I will go with ya. Get in touch with me about some dates and I will see what I can do. Keep up? I got nothing for that. That darn Cadillac that you drive kicks my arse at highway speeds. Thanks for the info.
  18. I hear ya man. The only thing is you can fish year 'round where you are. I am gonna be waiting until March :-[
  19. LOL, here I go again... Any preliminary details or a date when the "official" planning should or will begin?
  20. I merely allow him to entertain himself....LOL
  21. Jack, there are definitely people watching... Catt, thanks for the info. While I may never be on that lake, I appreciate the map reading tutorial very much. Wayne
  22. If/when we go, it usually depends on the bait. Treble hooks with our chicken livers and a decent size circle hook if using soft shells and peelers (same thing really). Back in the day, a #2 or #4 aberdeen hook with nightcrawlers got it done too. Wayne PS...in your sig, would you change it to Y'all already lol I can only say it so many times....
  23. I asked my future father-in-law and was told that of his three daughters who were ever engaged, I was the only one who had asked for his permission. I know it is good form to ask, even if not necessary. Guess who the favorite kid-in-law is now? Yeah boy!!!
  24. LOL Be nice Avid. I dont think the kid has ANY idea who he is poking his stick at...
