You warm weather guys are killing me. The ice in my canal is 12" thick, there is 12" of snow on the ground, it's 18 degrees and the wind is blowing NNW at 25 MPH. Sorry, back to the topic. I've cleaned, lubed, and re-spooled all my reels (some twice). Organized all my tackle and then I re-organized. I also split shot rig with the large Golden Shiners or Spottails. I've caught alot of my biggest Smallmouth with this method. I normally hook them through the lips and drift using the least amount of weight I can. Falcon

I agree with CJ, spring on Lake St. Clair is when I get incredible numbers of smallmouth, and ALOT of HUGE fish. Falcon

When I fish lizards in the spring, I always Texas rig them. My most productive colors have been electric blue, red shad, watermelon. Hope this helps, Falcon
