  1. Johns River Water Management District announces the temporary closure of the Headwaters Lake boat ramp located within the Fellsmere Water Management Area (FWMA) for essential repairs from June 10 through June 20. This closure is necessary to ensure the safety and functionality of the facility for visitors.May 7, 2024
  2. Headwaters in Fellsmere is probably your best bet but renting a boat is a problem, however guides are available but not cheap. Okeechobee (Roland Martins Marina) has rentals and lodging food etc. Lake Toho has boat rentals $50.00 an hour or so, guides lodging and is just south of Orlando. Personally I would look @ Toho and get a guide for a few days.
  3. I use the rage swimmers almost exclusively on swim jigs and pool test them often when I change size. The only time the trailer does not swim is on a VERY slow retrieve. Other then that they work fine for me. Good luck.

Keep it simple! White...Green Pumpkin..... Bluegill....
  5. Update from 5/28/2024. Was on the lake @ sunrise. Both of us started catching as soon as we began fishing, I was throwing a frog and my partner was throwing a Spook. We each caught 3, biggest was maybe 3lbs. As we fished farther away from that area the slower things got until we could not get a bite @ all. We spent the whole day searching for other areas with Chatterbaits, Swim jigs, Toads, Punch rigs, Stick baits, Spinnerbaits and never found the "mother load" or another fish for that matter. We left the lake around 2 PM with our tails dragging and scratching our heads. The lake had a heavy stain to it, areas that were normally good to us in the past had been sprayed and lacked vegetation and other areas were so topped out with Hydrilla it was a haystack needle trying to punch it. I plan on returning Friday but frankly not knowing what we will do differently.
  6. Punching mats. Heading there Tuesday.
  7. I bet the boat ramp is crowded this morning!! Yesterday 5/25/2024 in 90* heat, Team Taylor/McDevitt won a local event with 40.51 pounds, pictured on the left! Pictured on the top right, Team Laney-Roberson with 38.21 pounds (they had two fish over 11 pounds) for 2nd place, and Team Murray-Schroeder pictured middle and bottom on right for 3rd with 25.72 pounds!
  8. Sealy Outdoors owner Bob Sealy and his son-in-law, Chris Bennett, have announced that an angler who competed in the Big Bass Splash Tournament over the weekend on Toledo Bend Reservoir has been arrested. Bennett explained that the angler, who was not named, turned in a bass at the weigh-in that was immediately flagged by the weight-master. Bennett said the fish was set aside and an investigation revealed that the bass had lead weights inside of it to increase its weight. Sabine Parish Law Enforcement confirmed that the angler was arrested and charged with a felony for fraud.
  9. Being in Fl. I prefer a "MOJO" rig over Carolina rig. Either techniques allow the bait to freely move around on a slow retrieve. I use this in water 4 or deeper on occasion. The "MOJO" rig allows me to quickly turn my pegged texas rig into a mojo and back to a texas when I want. Also while using tungsten weight it allows to feel wither it is a soft, weeds or hard bottom.
  10. If I am understanding this correctly. Sounds as if you did nothing wrong? I would not park my truck (without trailer) in a spot designated for trailer parking as that is sure to get you a response.
  11. Just say no to FFS in Fl. !!! LOL
  12. The Bass club I am in had a two day event last weekend on the Harris Chain in Fl. So my partner and I arrived the Thursday before to prefish on Thursday and Friday with the Tourney on Sat and Sun. In this event I was to be the co-angler or "backseater". Early Friday morning while going through the Lake Dora canal which is approx 1 mile long and no wake zone we approached another smaller aluminum bass boat with a 90 hp motor. I was riding in a 21 Ranger with a 250 hp so @ idle or slightly above the gap closed and we maintained a safe 25 foot or so distance between us using neutral. As we approached the opening, the operator of the smaller craft turned to us with a scowl and shouted "Are you in a (vulgar) hurry? we did not respond then he yelled get off my (vulgar) keep in mind we were 20 feet behind @ idle. As we hit the opening he throttled down and flipped us a hand signal. On Friday evening returning through that same canal we approached a pontoon boat head to head which again we were yelled @ to "move over" and again were given a hand signal. In this case there was only 4 feet between us and a seawall so moving over was not possible however the pontoon boat was clearly in the middle of the canal and made no effort to move over a little. On Saturday while returning through that canal there was a flotilla of boaters going through the canal and we approached another pontoon boat that decided to attempted to turn around in the canal and failed miserably as he bounced off several trees the bottom and seawall. When he did finally manage to get turned around we made a safe pass on his port side as no other boats were approaching, while doing so we once again were yelled @ to not pass him as this is a no-wake zone! by the operator of the pontoon who was dressed as Blackbeard the pirate complete with eye patch, bandanna, hoop ear ring, puffy sleeve shirt and all the get up. Keep in mind this is the weekend after the Elites were there and Scott Martin had a gun pulled on him in another canal by a fella in a canoe who was upset that Scott approached him to fast. In that instance, that canal, is full speed area and the fella was tucked inside the canopy of the treeline, in a curve, and Martin had no way of seeing him but when he did, out of courtesy and safety came off the throttle and @ that point the firearm was drawn, waved around and pointed @ him and his camera man. Fortunately Martin wears a "Go-pro" camera and the event was recorded and turned over the the Sheriffs dept as charges are pending investigation. Very sketchy, triggered, offended people that weekend.
  13. Anything on your boat that don't belong there? Yes sir, you.
  14. Finished 4th of 28 with a pair of 5 pounders and 1 "Squealer" The lakes fished tough as I am sure the high temperatures (92*) and 103 pros just being there did not help us.
  15. I have done it in the past, My brother just did it on Harris with Hackney and a couple others. Easy really: First you must be a member of B.A.S.S. then on their web page select Tournaments then Marshall, all info and application will be found there.
  16. Practice started for the Harris Chain on April 8 with the first Tournament day scheduled for the 11th which was cancelled do to inclement weather so this gave them a day off, but also slipped the Championship for the Harris Chain till Monday 4/15. Monday 4/15 was day 1 practice day for the St.Johns event. So all anglers went straight North got there hotels or rentals and on to practice days for the St. Johns event. However the Anglers that fished on Monday's Championship day only gets two days practice. Just seems a little rushed seeing as the next event in S.C. doesn't start till 5/6 for Practice. What a grind!!
  17. Good one, but not enough to fish tomorrow as of now. Heading for the lock.

Cancel Day1 of Harris chain in Fl. do to inclement weather.
  19. A, 7' 6" fast action Rod being either M/H or Medium power rods are fine for stick baits, it is the "Trolling" rod you mention that I question.
  20. There is a right way and a wrong way to challenge, protest, debate and settle a disagreement. He clearly chose the wrong way and is in violation of a rule and is now paying for it. Kind of reminds me of the NFL vs. Kaepernick ordeal. See where that got him. Pretty sure he did not care though as he was probably through with MLF anyways.
  21. In no particular order, these with only a seconds thoughts. 1. Weightless stickbait 2. Fluke 3. Frog 4. Toad 5. Definitely a swimming worm. 6. Buzz bait 7. Pop-R
