Recently the wife and I came into a modest sum of money, so decided to remodel our bathrooms. Our kids are grown and gone, so we each have our own baths. They abut each other and we have noticed some cracking in the walls and floor tiles in that area. I should say here that our home is over fifty years old, and is built on a concrete slab. Prior to commencing our remodel, I decided to call in a Structural Engineer. $300 later I was informed that we have significant subsidence in a 10’x20’ area directly beneath the bathrooms. So, I called in a foundation repair guy. It cost me $150 to find out that the guy wouldn’t touch the job until it was determined that the foundation didn’t have a water leak. So, I called in a leak detection specialist. Another $300 to find out that yes, indeed, I have a water leak, and it’s located directly underneath the wall between our two baths. Which bath to destroy? I chose mine. The plumbers had to rip out the built-in vanity and all of the ceramic flooring prior to digging a hole large enough for a small sauna.. They found the leak, repaired it, back-filled with concrete, and handed me a bill for $2,700. That problem repaired, I recalled the foundation guy. This time he didn’t charge me, but said the repair would cost me $1,650. We will now be out over $5,000, and we haven’t even come close to starting the remodel. My bath is in shambles, no sink or vanity, just a big patch of concrete, a bunch of broken tiles, a toilet, and a still-intact shower. Our modest sum of money has now turned into a paltry sum of money. I’m beginning to wonder if Wal-Mart needs a Greeter.

You would get a bit more distance with a seven-footer, but you have the right idea.

As said above, if you are fishing in the slop, straight braid is the way to go, and make sure that it is at least 50#. Also, if you are fishing in stained water, straight braid is fine for fishing reaction baits. If you are fishing with plastics, a flouro leader is the way to go.

My wife is a very fair complected red-head and cannot tolerate the sun. Plus she thinks fish are icky. Needless to say, she does not fish, nor has she ever been aboard my boat. In all honesty, I wish she enjoyed the sport as much as I do, but I also enjoy my time on the water with my male friends. Sometimes it's great to get away for a while.

My wife and I are celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary today. As I think back, it's a wondrous life we have had together. It will come as no surprise that we have hit a few rocky roads, but we stuck together. What a life we have shared! There as been the joy of children and grandchildren (and now a great-grandchild,) There has been the grief of losing parents, a grand-daughter, and close friends. The grief never goes away, but becomes more bearable over time. We have experienced the intimacy of dancing cheek to cheek, to the advent of rock and roll, to the degeneration of popular music into hiphop. We have witnessed man's first walk on the moon. We have witnessed and eagerly accepted the introduction of the personal computer, although they were very expensive at the time. My first computer was an Apple II. With accessories, it cost over $3000. We have witnessed the birth of the Internet, and now wonder how we lived without it. Likewise with Smart Phones. In all honesty, I think I could write a book about the life experiences my love and I have shared, such as having lived in the Middle East, Far East, and Europe, but that is not for these forums. Suffice it to say that I have had the great opportunity to spend the majority of my life with my lover and my best friend, and we have had a ball!

I have a lifetime fishing license here in Oklahoma. Because I am a senior, the license is honored in Texas. Regardless, when I fish in Texas, I always buy a temporary out of State license. Just doing my little part to help out the Fish and Game budget. I travel around a bit, so I always buy the necessary license(s) for the state I will be fishing, regardless of the amount of time I will be there, whether it be one hour or one week.

Pinnacle is now producing some great products, but have overlooked the need to update their website to promote these great new products. A marketing gaffe - big-time. I sincerely hope they update their site soon.

There are many, many rods out there that fit your price range and there are ten times as many opinions. Find a rod that YOU like and buy it. My opinion is that the BPS Carbonlites are worth looking at, but then so are (fill in the blanks here with others opinions.)

Just received my "Christmas Sale" catalog from BPS. The Carbonlites are shown in white. One can only wonder why BPS is trying to fix something that isn't broken.

I personally know that there is one of our sponsors who loves to catch big bass. He fishes with only one rod and reel. I'm not going to reveal his secrets here. As far as I am concerned you can catch 98% of your bass with a medium/heavy rod and any average reel, whether it be spinning or bait casting. It's the person on one end of the line and the lure on the other end of the line that make the difference.

I really don't see what all of the fuss is about. My cranking battery is a standard Walmart 27 series. It powers my electronics, hatch lighting, and my alarm system. With the one exception of when I failed to maintain the fluid level, I have never had a problem with it cranking the big motor, even after a full day of fishing with the TM. That said, I would never leave the dock without a pair of jumper cables.

I pulled in about a 5 pounder (batteries were dead on my scale) last week on Gibson, pitching the brush into three feet of water. Looks like the girls are moving up.

My wife is a CPA and has a client that is in the repo business, so I guess you can say that we are the early birds who get the worm. She drives a repo'd Cadillac STE and I drive a repo'd Escalade. No complaints from us!
