After removing the cowling, and looking at the motor from the rear, there is a wire that is located at the top center of the engine block which leads around to the left of the block. That is the temperature sensor. Check closely to make sure that the wire isn't frayed and rubbing against the block. The voice of experience with my XR-6.

The OP was asking about true bass boats, not a comparison between aluminum and fiberglass bass boats. True bass boats are made from both. Both have their advantages and disadvantages, but the advantage that both have is the shallow draft, the casting deck, and to a lesser extent, the storage. Unless you are a tournament fisherman, or just enjoy bugs in your teeth, speed is of no importance. A true bass boat is any flotation device from which you catch bass. It is simply a platform that will enable you to get off the bank. It just depends on how much you want to spend for your platform.

It's kinda funny that Marine motors these days are rated safe to run ethanol, but it can be iffy if the fuel lines feeding them are also. I once had the same problem with my 2004 Merc 150. Replacing the fuel line was a simple fix, but it cost me a day on the water. I continue to run ethanol gas, but I treat it religiously with Startron.

My best guess is that if the motor reacts the same way with the remote, then it's your batteries. For the Terrova 80# you need two 12v deep cycle batteries. I buy mine at Walmart. They will easily last for a couple of years, as long as you maintain the fluid levels. As for the third battery, I assume that is for your big motor. For that you will need a cranking battery, instead of a deep cycle. Any standard 12v automotive battery will work, but buy the best that you can afford. That goes for the deep cycle batteries as well.

For me it was the kill switch, I was in my new (old) boat, and lost a whole day of fishing because my motor wouldn't start. It wasn't until I got back home until I realized my idiocy. I still haven't told my fishing buddies about that day.

I'm sorry, but I must be missing something. I'm sure you've looked at companies such as Bass Pro Shops, Cabella's, Dick's Sporting Goods, Academy Sports, Gander Mountain, and a few other s that fail to come to mind. Have you not been able to find fishing apparel in any of them? Are you talking about apparel with sponsor specific Logo's on the apparel?

Let's go from the asinine to the ridiculous . What if our entire universe was contained in one huge bubble? And what if that bubble was at the bottom of some entity's beer mug, slowly rising to the top, only to be swallowed, or to pop? And what if ...?

They are no longer in production, but you may want to take a look at a used Tracker Tournament V-18. It has a very well thought-out layout and there is ample room to store 8' rods. It has a modified deep-vee hull, so it will handle rough water better than the glass boats. The front deck can easily handle two competent anglers. It's not a speed demon, but in the right conditions mine will do 58 mph GPS with my Merc 150.

Don't tell Glenn, but BR is not the first website I visit in the morning. I'm one of those folks who takes a while to wake up, so I usually check the weather, work the online L.A. Times crossword, and maybe a Sudoku puzzle or two before I "go to work" and log on to BR.

While fishing one day, I decided to tie on a jig and trailer. The jig was one of Mike Seibert's, and the trailer was, what was then, a Rage Tail prototype given to me by Big-O; the ReCon Worm. I paid careful attention when attaching the worm to the jig, because I didn't want to lose it. When I was finished I tossed the jig into the water - without tying the line to it.

I'm afraid I have to disagree. I seldom look at my Terrova unless I'm navigating through tight situations. Normally, I do what the cable steer guys do. i.e. I fish, and use the remote to correct the heading of the boat as necessary, without looking at which way the motor is pointing. Further, I no longer have to look at the remote to correct my heading. Like the cable steer guys, I now make heading corrections without conscious thought. If I set the motor to run a GPS heading, I can easily run for as long as five minutes without touching the remote. I'm not talking about offshore fishing here. I'm talking about fishing along the bank.

Billions of Amazonian bass will suddenly mutate, grow to gigantic proportions, develop legs and lungs, and go searching for top-water fishermen. After that blood lust is satisfied, they will go in search of plastics fishermen. And so the scourge will grow .. to all fishermen ... to those who know fishermen ... to those who eat fish ... to those who visit aquariums ... to those whose land was under water millions of years ago ...

Those who know me know that I have a tremor condition. On my mistake days it can take me 15 minutes to tie a knot as simple as a Palomar. For that reason I use snaps on almost all of my gear. The fish don't seem to mind at all.
