The is a vast difference between "profit" and "profit margin." I just checked Exxon Mobile financials. It's first quarter "profit" was $10.65 billion. It's revenues (sales) were $112.6 billion. It's "profit margin" was only 9.5%. For you mathematically challenged, that means the company spent $101.95 billion paying for goods, services, salaries and taxes. That's an awful lot of money being poured into our economy. Let's put it into perspective. Assume I have a small company that had sales of $1 million and I had the same profit margin as Exxon's, i.e. 9.5%. That means that I would have spent (added to the economy) $905,000 to make a profit of $95,000.

Joplin is only a ninety minute drive from Tulsa. I simply cannot believe the devastation! My heart goes out to those in the wake of the destruction. We had three tornadoes touch down in my area, but nothing like what it Joplin!

If you have an IRA there is a strong chance that you own stock in the major oil companies. As with any company, public or private, the management of the company is duty-bound to maximize it's profit. I would speculate that one of the most frustrating things for the CEO of an oil company is that the company has very little control over the price of the oil coming in to the refinery, or the price of gasoline going out of it. The Commodities Market does that.

I took up bass fishing when it finally dawned on me that I would never be worth a crap at golf. I just don't have the temperament for it. I got angry when I made a bad shot, which boiled over to the next shot, which boiled over to the next. My average score was in the high nineties, low 100's. IMO a keel weighted hook is to provide as natural a profile to a lure as is possible as it is traveling through the water, whether on the fall or the retrieve. Since the tube has the same profile on all sides it would seem to me that keel weighting would be useless. That said, give it a try and let us know if it works.

My guess is that you have a bad 'ducer. Clean off the bottom of the 'ducer and then set your depth setting to auto. If it still reads 1.5' in deeper water then try swapping the 'ducer if you can borrow one. Alternatively, you can swap out the head unit. If the new head unit still shows a wrong depth, then you know it's the 'ducer.

Robert, you have a REALLY weird sense of humor.

Bassn, although I wasn't born there, I grew up in that environment. From the age of six until I went to college I was among Cajuns. Back then, in the sixties, many spoke more French than English. The accent you hear from the Swamp folks is a wretched French/English/Creole mix. It means that they are ignorant, not stupid. While in high school I had the great good fortune of having an English teacher who abhorred the Cajun accent, so she refused to allow the wretched English in her class. I learned an awful lot of what not to do in her class, and will be forever grateful. As for the millionaire? They found oil on his property.

For those of you who watch this program and think that those Cajuns are just a bunch of ignorant trash, be advised that most of those folks make a Very good living from their endeavors. At least one of them is a millionaire I'll give you a hint. Tonight, he's fishing with a lady..
