Eastern Ma & New England Area Fishing Reports
Haven’t gone out bass fishing since mid April. I need to get out. Did a shore trip. Brought my surf rod to bomb baits out there Spot one was good a big fish spot. Had a few whacks on the crawler. Put on the PG. They loved it. Few whacks. Stuck twin 5-11s from 2 different areas and a 3. Hit spot 2. Water was really high couldn’t fish the spot well. It fishes well with lower water. When the waters high it’s really shallow can’t reach the drop offs. But I tried. Had one big blow up on the PG. Got one smaller fish and missed a decent one on a T rig rage bug. Tried the DS crawler. Immediately got smoked. Thought I had my 3rd 5er. But couldn’t get that extra ounce to get her over. She was 4-14. Then got a nice 3lb smallie on the crawler. First smallie for me on a DS bait. The 3rd pond was dead. Couldn’t get a sniff

Best Seasons for Bass on a Chatterbait / Bladed Jig ?
I’ve caught some big fish in the summer fishing a chatterbait like a jig. Lift and pause. Like a blade bait. Chatterbaits also work well at night to. Spring through fall.

Eastern Ma & New England Area Fishing Reports
Fished hard last night in the kayak. 7pm-1 am. Lot of dead water. Missed a couple of fish on the PG. Kept working my way, popped a 5-10 on the Ds customs Ninja Wake at an isolated weed patch. Found a weedy point. Got another 5-7, a 3 and missed a giant again all on the DS ninja wake. They wouldn’t hit, the slammer, crawler, glide, a rat, or PG.

Northern Swimbait Fishing
I fish in MA. I love swimbait fishing. I tend to stick with wake baits 6-9 inches. 5-7 inches soft baits and 8 inch glide baits. They work year round. I’ve caught wake bait bass in middle of winter. A 3lber will absolutely nail a big wake bait. My biggest is 8-2 I caught on a DS 8 inch glide bait. There’s big bass to be caught!

MA giant
Hunting that 10lber. Up here in Ma that’s going to be hard but not impossible

She fought good. Knew it was a good one when I felt the head shakes saw her come up, oh god it’s a good one, she ran back down, got her up again and in the net

MA giant
Caught my 2nd biggest bass I’ve ever caught on a jerkbait today. She hit right at sunset on the last few cast. I gave up on the afternoon trip. This was the only bass I caught! She hit in the middle of the pond. I worked the shore line hoping they moved up. But that failed to produce. This place is pretty shallow though. Like 8 feet max. 7lbs 10 ounce 22 1/2 inches So the thing with jerkbaits, I had very little confidence in them. I never did well on them never caught anything over 3lbs. My good day on jerkbaits would be 5 2lbers if I’m lucky. But I knew they worked. So I kept fishing them trying to learn and build confidence

whats your favorite prop bait
Whopper plopper by far. But I do like using the buzz jet at night, idk if it counts as a prop bait. The WP has caught me a lot of big fish. My Pb smallie 6lbs 9 ounce came on the 90 the first time I used it. That was after a 10 hour day of not catching anything

I’ve been throwing glides, wake baits and jerkbaits. Only thing that had been working. Bites been tough. Water still ice cold. Got a chatterbait fish the last week of February

Eastern Ma & New England Area Fishing Reports
Got onto a weird bite yesterday. I worked the wind line and only caught one 3lber on a glide. They wouldn’t hit, jigs, chatters, lipless cranks or real preys. I got to the calm side tied on a Matt’s 6.5 inch floating strong shad. Ended up getting a 4.5 and bunch of dinks on the glide and shad worked slow on top. Had a few whacks and follows

Hit a spot after work,I haven’t been to in years. This being my 3rd time fishing it. I couldn’t hit the whole pond. All my fish were random. Got 1 pickerel and a perch on the HH jerkbait, got 2 bass on the glide. The chunky fish hit on a sunny windblown shore.

8lbs 2 ounce Massachusetts bass, DS customs glide

Are there too many options?
I stick to brands I know and love. But I want all their baits. I love Strike king rage and coffee tubes. So I’ll only use those for plastics and tubes. Real prey swimbaits are the only soft swimbaits I’ll use.

Off-Shore Lure Recs
When I throw a jig deep, its 1/2 ounce. I use natural colors, black, green pumpkin, watermelon and any variations of those. I use craw trailers. Like the Rage craw, rage menace and Samatis crawmatis . I’m fishing 10-20 feet fishing ledges.

Early spring bassin
So here’s the spot, one of them! You can see the structure during a drought in one of the maps I used. Google earth when it’s full of water. You can see all the stumps on those islands! Plan on targeting a those islands in the early spring, it’s closer to the “deep water”. I don’t know how deep it is but going off previous experience from here. The 1 time I’ve kayaked it, it’s not deep. I actually never gotten to fish that area where the deeper water is!
