Eastern Ma & New England Area Fishing Reports
I’ve only fished twice this month. Went out Sunday, late start, had to unpack from CO last week. Only one pick, missed a few good ones on jigs and glide baits. Then shore fished Monday local, got 3 dinks on lipless. Now my truck is in the shop. No fishing this weekend

Anyone ever lose interest in fishing and have it come back?
Great way to look at it! Thanks for the wise words! That’s why I’m taking a break from saltwater. I need to have a better look at it. I need to appreciate the times out there even if it’s a bad day! Cuz WHEN!!!!!!!!! I get my boat. It’s game on!

Anyone ever lose interest in fishing and have it come back?
Anybody else have this problem? I have a burning passion for fishing. But I get depressed AF or sad, or angry when I can’t do well or complete a goal. See previous post about my saltwater fishing. When I go on a boat say for tuna, big stripers anything, I get all excited for it. When it’s a bad day I get really sad. Cuz there’s nothing more that I want then to go crush it or at least have a good day when I get invited. Cuz my bad days out number the good ones. Another example. I’m a species hunter so I want to catch anything I can. I’ve been fishing NY for 10 years now. It’s a 7 hour drive. I go in the fall for the trout and salmon fishing. It drives my crazy I haven’t caught a coho salmon yet. I get angry just thinking about that I haven’t done it yet.

I agree. I’ve felt this. I’ve been fishing since I was 3 years old. I’m now 34. Idk if it’s because I’ve been doing it so long that I don’t have to go anymore. I used to be hungry and go all the time but if I don’t “feel it” I won’t go. I go if it’s worth it! Especially winter time. I used to go cuz I have to go. But I find myself saying ehh it’s not worth it. Saltwater I’m done with that, not completely but it’s a sore subject for me. I can’t do it 100% so I’m not going. I don’t have a boat, stuck on shore. I’m tired of driving 2 hours to go get skunked. So I’m done with that crap. I live on the ocean and my backyard is the only saltwater I’m doing. All the cool fish and big fish are a hour plus drive. Being limited to shore or the random invite on a boat just to get skunked I’m done with that. I can’t tell ya how many times I’ve gone and have it be a bad day chasing awesome fish like tuna, sharks, albies, big stripers, you name it, fish I don’t normally catch or have many opportunities to catch. If I get invited on a boat chances are it’s going to be a bad day. I always get excited going. I buy all the stuff I need. Beer food gas bait gear and we don’t catch fish! THATS WHY I NEED A d**n FRIGGIN BOAT. So I can go when ever I want, not be stuck on shore or wait till I get invited on a boat! I’m getting aggravated typing this. End rant!

Stupid Tube rigs
I ned rig tubes or put them on a tube jig. Tubes are one of my confidence baits fishing in clear water, clean bottom and a spinning rod. I definitely need to start T rigging them more. I fish bigger tubes though. Like 3.5 inch strike king coffee tubes. Just bought some 4 inch stupid tubes to try this year

Glide Baits: Floating or Slow Sink?
Yes sir! Cape trout herring waters! I’ve caught so many fish on this bait. I got a 7.5 in a bog pond, no herring or trout in early March on this bait! It just flat out catches fish! Some other local studs are catching giants on this to!

- Anybody using Marabou Jigs for bass?
I love marabou jigs. I tie my own from 1/32 to 1/4. Catch anything and everything on them. You’ll be surprised how many saltwater fish I catch on a 1/16 ounce jig. A 1/4 ounce marabou jig is one of my go to finesse lures for bass! Light line clear water. It gets chewed. From dead winter in the coldest of waters to summer time. It’s super natural. I have a video of a bass eating one of my jigs a in December. These jigs just work man. Super natural action and natural colors. When you pause the jig it will still move! I do a slow steady retrieve on bottom like bottom strolling. But will sometimes pause it. Super slow on bottom works great to. Just bouncing on bottom. Lot of things you can do with it- Big squarebills
Check out the Black Dog G2 shell cracker. Jointed crank and wake. On the cusp of being called a swimbait- Bass and other animals (some dumb questions)
I’ve never fished birds for bass. I fish smaller lakes and ponds. Saltwater I fish birds. The shell beds I fish are deeper so if I’m fishing summer, winter or just when ever I’m fishing deeper I’ll fish shell beds. I know otters eat bass. Not sure the other animals like beavers and muskrats.- Absolute beginner jig fisherman questions
When I first started jig fishing that was the only thing I brought out. Especially on days where I was shore fishing and pond hopping. If I was on an all day trip I’d bring other stuff. It forced me to learn them cuz I didn’t have anything else with me.- Working Lures in Odd Manners
I dead stick baits alot. Big topwaters or bottom baits like jigs, hair jigs, plastics and what not. I also fish floating hard baits like cranks and big swimbaits on top. I’ll twitch them around cover. I also fish a weightless t rig craw like a topwater.- Ways To Work a Spook
One time after fishing during the day I decided to stay after dark. Only had one topwater. It was a spook. Caught a few fish just really slow twitching or straight retrieve! - Anybody using Marabou Jigs for bass?
