Welp water temps have dropped to 40ish...whats your favorite lmb lure/presentation
If it’s 45 I love jerkbaits blades big swimbaits hair jigs shallow or deep. If it’s ultra cold I like blades and hair jigs! I’m not a fan of fishing 40 ish ultra cold water in shallow ponds. I’d rather fish deeper clear water and structures. I don’t like 40 degree water and shallow weedy ponds!

You just knew.
I have 2 that come to mind. It was a hair jig that was more like a regular jig, heavier bigger with added rabbit zonker strips or hackle for a trailer. The other was a floating glide bait! Both of these lures are confidence baits for me now. I make 1/4 ounce hair jigs that are big and bulky. The DS customs floating glide is absolutely perfect for fishing over shallow weeds where other glides will sink and get hung up!

Night time bass help
I just got one last night. I missed another fish too. I’m up here in MA. Water is in the low 40s I can tell ya that! The weather has been cold. Actually having a winter with highs in the 30s. Finally had a warm up. Temps in the 50s 2 days. I fished a shallow pond that is good in the winter. It’s very shallow with current so it never freezes. I caught this fish slow waking a DS customs ninja. It’s an all black 3 piece 5 inch maybe 6 inch wake bait. It’s not super big bait. Fish hit at the end of the retrieve. It was a slow retrieve with pauses mixed in.

Good job getting out there I was so jealous. My bass season was absolutely horrible. Couldn’t figure them out night or day. Stripers were horrible too! Daylight savings sucks, only had 30 or so min of sun after work. Nothing going on during the day, stayed after dark. Got one decent fish slow crawling a DS ninja! Also missed one. Tried the gillionare and PG. Can’t beat topwater bass in December in MA! Fishing a shallow water pond that’s been good in the winter!

Night time bass help
How slow are you going? I love love night bass fishing from small ponds to big lakes, winter spring summer and fall. I live in Massachusetts, so it can get cold up here in the winter. I go slow slow slow, sometimes they want it faster. If I’m fishing a chatterbait I like it slow on bottom lift and pause retrieve. T rigs, I slow twitch on bottom. I mimic crawfish. Jigs, worms, t rigs chatters basically the same way, slow on bottom. Topwater, well I guess the same thing. Slow, twitch pause not to much reeling, but sometimes they want it slow and steady! It could be the rattle to or a subtle knock they want. I love a buzz jet is small and loud. There’s a lot of big expensive swimbaits that crush fish at night but that’s a rabbit hole. But any wake bait will be great at night! Frogs, poppers, whopper ploppers, jitterbugs, buzz baits all work very well at night

Bigger bass in the winter
I want to get into the winter smallie game. I’ve caught a few in the winter but never hammered them like I see other people do up here in the north. Now that I got a PDL Kayak and electronics probably be a little bit easier

Umbrella rig
I just bought the tactical bassin flex rigs, the regular, the mini and the micro. Bought some Lead Free bass jigs jig heads, and Beast coast jig heads. Got some Beast Coast Slow flow and Keitech fat impact! Really looking forward to throwing this. Think they would be great up here in New England, we get a lot of river herring!

Bigger bass in the winter
I managed to catch my first winter 5. January 13th 5lbs 10 ounce for the first fish of the year. Had a great bite window. 5-10 and heavy 4, mid 3 and a dink with a few missed fish in the mix. We had big warm front, rains winds and warm weather. I went shallow flipping jigs into shore line brush and tress. Wind was blowing 30, about 60 degrees out. It was hard to fish in the kayak. Found them in a small calm pocket!

Winter Bass Fishing Projects
Depends, I fish all winter too when there’s weather windows. SE Ma is very temperamental in the winter. It’s 31 right now but 50s next week. Warm and cold stretches! I’ve had some d**n good days in the winter! I spend time with friends and family. Tie jigs, video games, organize gear!

Caught a nice late season striper on ultra light gear. She hit the Dixie Jig. 2nd cast trying for shad. It was a 1/16 ounce chartreuse head white flash/white. So much fun! My jigs crush stripers! I’ve caught a lot of stripers on my 1/16 ounce jig

Who Throws White Jigs in Fall?
I tie my own jigs with hair and fur. My best colors are always browns blacks and greens. I fish them like bottom strolling or mid water strolling. I fish them year round. I need to start using more whites. Haven’t had much luck with them.

Yea I get ya! You need that extra casting distance for shore fishing! I love these for stream, river, kayak and ice fishing! I use these for steelhead and salmon up in NY! They also crush fish back here too! They work great on slip floats

Baitcasters with large line guides
Guys I need help finding a certain reel! I love float fishing with bait casters. I float fish the Niagara river so I’m fishing deep water but my problem is finding a bait caster with line guide big enough to have the bobber stop freely go through it when casting! I’m float fishing in 20 feet of water. I know this is a bass website but can’t hurt to ask about trout and salmon fishing

Eastern Ma & New England Area Fishing Reports
I have nothing to report but the continuous skunk. Lot of casting practice. I haven’t caught a decent fish since May. Been doing saltwater and I’m catching a whole lotta nothing. Bait like pogies and mackerel and the occasional small trash fish that’s about all I’m catching. The pogies are going without a sniff! I think I need to go back to bass

Are glidebaits good for catching bass?
You’re welcome! Welcome to the Dark side. Also as the DS lmao! These baits crush fish! I throw em in the salt, pike, largemouth anything! Enjoy it!
