Is the line getting burried in itself? Is the line a "mushy" spool or is it tight? You might have to let all the line out and have your buddy hold it tight while you reel it in nice and tight onto the spool. That or you have your break on to tight. Just my guess. Al

I have 3 Extremes. I'd tell you to wait till they go on sale. $70 is pretty good for the Extreme rod. They go on sale a few time a year. I wouldn't begin to compare the two rods. I just think $70 is not bad for that rod. Al

I got NorthFace boots on zappos for cheap. Like $80~90 w/ shipping. The boots have an X2 on the side and are made with Goretex and have Vibram soles. I love them. I use them rain or shine. They are light and wear like hiking boots. 8+ hrs is no sweat. You will have to hunt them down. They go on sale every now and then. I know its not as easy as click and buy, but you will get a deal. I use the same. Makes it super easy to get a gut hook out. Get the longest one you can find. If you wanna go cheap you can. I like the no ? return at Sears. Al

I've got 3 Extreme rods. My original one w/ my chronarch 101. I loved it so much I got two more with another chronarch and a curado. NO balancing kits. I like them like that. I got lures w/ the money I was going to get for the kit. You can try it if you like. The monkey is not going to be happy if you get it. ;D Al PS get the rod on sale $70 not $100

I've had my maui jims since 2000. The day I got them I asked if I could walk outside and compare between the 3 choices I had. No comparison. The maui jims made my eyes relax. I can't explain it. Just go to your eyeglass place and ask the very pretty young lady behind the counter to let you try them on outside, in full sun light. She can come with. I mean it. Try the glass ones. With the sun at a low angle, like it is when you drive home. Al

I use the powerpro 40 in my chronarch 101. I love it. So much so I bought another. It took a while but now I'm sold on these. The spinner stays home. I've pulled in logs and trees w/ this line. Amazing. No problems at all. Just don't let the line get near the rocks. Al

No, but I found a 9" senko type bait on the bank once. It was at the S. FL Boyz get together in West Palm Beach. I showed it to Avid and WestPalmDude and TripleA. Never seen anything like that for freshwater. That thing was huge! It was like a hose. I wanted to shoot it before I picked it up. Thank God I didn't, would have been quite the scene at the park. ;D Al

Try * they ship US mail for cheap. I like them. I know its a knock off but its an option. My PB was on their site. (Shameless, I know. I had to, its my only hawg : ) On topic. I switched from a 3/0 to a 4/0 Heavy on the 5" stick. I liked it. The wiggle was...more pronounced. Maybe. It could have been the beer or the heat. Regardless, It works. The 3/0 I save for flukes. The 4/0 Heavy makes them fall wierd. Wierd in a bad way. Al
