Bryan, I fish for stripers as well, Considering what you are going to be fishing for I'd agree with using the Pluton, paired with a GLoomis swimbait rod. I dont think this will be your last swimbait combo...the other swimbait rod I like is the JDM Megabass White Python, paired with a Calcutta 250DC. Check it out...

Springfield Armory, I have a V-10 Ultra Compact. Love this gun. Full stainless with coco bolo grips. I dont think they make it any more though.
