I dont know much about the Florida variety, but topwater baits work great, especially zara spooks and rip roller's. You may also want to check with local tackle shops as I am sure they will have a good idea as to what works.

Considering your experience with fishing Mexico E_G, I would take your opinion along with Raul's as to where we should all consider going. I am leaning towards El Salto personally, only because I hear the main lodge there is nice and the fishing is supposed to be good. Maybe Raul can chime in here....

The only spinning rod in my arsenal. Great action, light tip, and paired with a Stella you wont find a better combo.

Research this site for 3 days instead. You'll learn more from the articles and posts here and have $1200 left to buy some NICE rods, reels and tackle. There are lots of guys here (me included) that would be more than happy to talk shop with you and teach you the basics. All you have to do is ask!
