Carrot Stick
In conversations I've had with Ken Whiting, there should be many more rods available during the 1st quarter of '08. Based on my initial reactions of the Carrot, I am anxious to see what they have up their sleeves. LBH, I think the rod will be a little soft for peacocks. I am more curious to see how it fares against pirhana's.

Shimano or Daiwa?
I have a few shimano reels guys. Don't get me wrong, I do like them. Just not as much as my Daiwa's. I have 2 Chronarch MG's, 1 Chronarch, 1 Calcutta 300 TE, 1 Core, a Stella 3000, 1 Calcutta Stogie, and 6 Chronarch SF's.

Two questions about Record sized bass.

Shimano or Daiwa?
I was prepping some reels today for the big trip. Looking at them all I could not help but notice that for the most part, Shimano baitcasters have some backplay. I really hate that about their reels. Even the Core, one of their newest designs has quite a bit of backplay. My Daiwa reels on the other hand, have absoletely no back play. Even the Sol, which is probably the least expensive of my Daiwa lineup, feels very precise. Bottom line, I like my Daiwa reels over my Shimano reels. I think they look nicer, feel stronger, and are simply engineered better. What do you guys think?

help on braid
Sufix is fantastic and you can not beat it for the price. However the new Daiwa Samurai 8 strand braid blows it away. Smoother, smaller diameter, but quite a bit more expensive....

Carrot Stick came in. No really. **PICS**
Weight, action, quality compare to a Steez. I mention that in the review earlier......

Redlinerobert-Brazil arsenal
I have somwhat changed my game plan. As I will be packing all my gear for the trip early next week, I will start taking pictures of all the rods, reels, and lures that will be going with me. I am most excited about some "prototype" lures that Bodega Bay Baits and Black DOg Baits are making for me specifically for this trip. Details to follow!

The swimbait rod to end all swimbait rods.
Oh man this thing is an absolute work of art. Now I know why the couple of guys that I have spoken too that have this rod have all said the same thing. "You will have to pry this rod from my dead hands". Add me to the list. Considering the power, I can not get over how light weight this rod is. The level of finish is second to none. Honestly, it is almost too pretty to use. Almost. I can't wait to get this rod out on the water. The rod is two piece, similar to my 8ft Steez in that the joint is right at the base of the foregrip. The foam handles are extremely dense, more so than the Steez foam from the feel. Not sure if I will keep this 300 TE on it, bu for the time being it will have to do.

Sorry for the delay guys. Busy weekend What can I say about this rod. It really impresses me. Light weight, loads great, casts a country mile, super sensitive, great components, nicely balanced. Makes a great rod for throwing crankbaits, spinnerbaits, wieghtless plastics like flukes would be great on this rod as well. Get one now guys, before they decide to raise the price. I promise you wont be dissapointed. I didnt think it would be strong enough against peacocks but I have changed my mind. This rod will make the trip to Brazil as well. Here are some pictures.

Good top-water for stripers
I'm with LBH. Joe is the man and makes some very nice lures. If I'm not using his lures then Zara Spooks for sure.

Ok here are the choices
Tought choice, all great boats. I would choose based on the type of water you fish. I understand that Champions do well in big water, not too sure what the other two boats are known for since I am a Ranger dude. Also storage would be a big concern, based on how YOU fish. Do you need more rod storage? Or more tackle storage?
