Steez rods and reels are what I consider "exotics". I'm steadily replacing my personal gear with their rods and reels.

Actually the lake is located in Snelling, about 2 hours away from me. It's close to Merced.

My boat came with a Hamby's as well. I wouldn't own a boat with out one.

I prefer to use an O ring on my crankbaits. It allows them to swim much better.

Well guys I had the time of my life on Monday. I took my girlfriend and my best friend out fishing. It was the second trip in the boat, the first trip for my girl and the first trip for my friend. We all caught fish. 42 of them to be exact. The lake is private and it only allows 6 boats on the water at a time. We shared it with only one other boat. Good times! The first fish of the day! Kevin's first bass. He told me that he dreamt of fishing that night. My girl's first fish! And she kissed it! So excited I can't even tell you guys.

I'm jealous of you east coasters. You truly get to experience all 4 seasons.

What, if any, mods could one do to a Merc Racing outboard? Any comments would be appreciated.

Jay, Not sure of the top speed yet. I'm particular when it comes to the break in process of any vehicle, including my boat. I should be able to report back on a top speed run soon enough. Surprisingly the motor is quieter than I expected.

Don't know if this thread has already been done, but here is a pic of my H2 and boat together. I took this today, on the boat's maiden trip By the way, that Merc 300 is an ANIMAL. Cruising at 50 mph it feels like the motor is hardly trying. I'll be keeping this boat for a while.....

For me, it came down to perceived quality. The Ranger is a great boat. It APPEARS to be better made and the finish is nicer in my opinion. Let the flames begin.
