Starting Power, Ending Finesse - What about the converse?
I change presentation/techniques first before considering upside or downsize doesn’t matter finesse or power. If I fish, fluke Senko or Fatika and moving/hoping slowly doesn’t work, I go with hard jerk and fast either a long the bottom or up high in water column. Same when I fish lipless, spinnerbait or chatterbait, if burning back doesn’t work then I go yo-yoing or just swim slowly a long bottom.

Yo-Zuri 100%Fluoro Top Knot Main Line
I’m not sure how but my remaining 12lb top knot compare to Abazx is larger in diameter. I can tell them apart by eyes. Red label diameter should be about the same as Abrazx (I only have red label in 10lb which is much smaller than 12lb Abrazx and much softer). I don’t like topknot at all, stiff, lot of memory and harder to tie good knot. I’d prefer Red label over topknot, why I got 1000 yds of 10 lb spool, only FC I use now.

Conundrum: keep a secret place to myself?
I fish small 400 acres private lake where everyone knows the spots already to get bass either on boat or shoreline. It is about first come first serve and who get the right lure and right presentation. I pretty much known to catch bass/big bass around here but I got my a$$ kicked most every time with this old lady if we fish the same area. Her and I always post IG publicly and we have quite a number of private followers that live on the lake. For crappie though I try not to post much anymore, even though we only have a few well known spots but they don’t know when they come (shallow) or where the school up. I think I’m more protective for crappie than bass now ???

Stupid Bored Friday Question - What's More Important? Your Gear(Rod & Reel) or Your Tackle(Lures)?
REELS is the most important for me. Good to look at even without a fish on. Can be home decor (if my wife allow). I’m not talking only catching fish but pleasure to own. I do have more rod than reel but that what I call a tool to catch fish (you gotta have right tool for the right job, right). I only buy reels I like doesn’t matter if it catch any fish.

Does anyone make 4# braided line anymore ?
Yup have windtamer in 4 and 6lb, Nanobraid 3lb and Nanofil 4 and 6lb currently using with all my crappie rigs. There are also some cheap brand that sell 4lb but look more like 6-8lb. Bass is not line shy no need to go super thin braid, you would loose more fish and lures with that type line for bass fishing. I only use this small super line for only one thing in mind, casting distance which I need the most since I fish from shore.

Buying my first B C in 70 years. opinions on a Lews LFS-SS1SHA at Cabela's $100
Btw I’m not a braid fan at all. I only have a few reels with braid (except spinning) but majority are Copolymer and 2 fluorocarbon. I don’t see any benefit of braid over Copolymer, I do think there are even more disadvantages using braid compare to mono, bad in the wind, less sensitivity overall and less abrasion resistance. Some might not agree with me but this is my experience using braid especially with finesse presentations (light weight lure, less movement and a lot of subtle bites)

Not about landing the fish, that maybe why lews said 6lb braid is no problem. I’m talking about casting your 1/10oz lure. If you troll should be fine but casting is totally different story. I’m still confused why you insist to use 6lb braid. I’d rather use 6lb mono/Copolymer any day of the week. This is from a guy using 6, 10, 15 and 30lb braid on Baitcasters quite a bit.

Yes the reel doesn’t have problem with 6lb braid the main question is, Can you handle it?

which One Will You Trade With Shimano Mg7?
I just seen your post from other forum, definitely trade your Aldebaran mg7 out. Even in good shape Aldebaran is lesser value compare to Core and easier to find(and they are the same reel). You are lucky to get Alphas Air TW, I traded my alde mg7 for old alphas air long time ago. I really think you will be happy with Alphas air TW. It is easier to cast with even compare to your CQ BFS. That small dia spool make casting and control controlling easier.

Braid to Flouro when Baitcasting or no?
Depends on size of braid and structure. If I use 20-30lb braid no leader need. If below 15lb braid and fish around rock bottom or rip rap, leader would help in more abrasion resistance.

Your technique-specific casting rods
How about dropshot rod, you gotta have that.???

There's this question I have been wanting to ask for a long time
I must be white in Asian body. I don’t like killing life. I don’t want to kill anything bigger than ants. If you are talking only fish, I would understand since fish is main free and easy to find food source just like those livestock. I guess the culture teach them that way. I’m a little bit different though, since I grew up in city and I didn’t need to kill for food. I practice catch and release since I was teenager if the fish is not my target species. On the other hand my wife’s family grew up eating all kind of fish, they would keep anything they catch and they will eat every parts of the fish (no wasting food). The First time I fish with my wife’s dad, I swear I’m not fishing him no more. ???

Found a new favorite reel grease
Thanks, I use CorrosionX on worm gear as well as main gear and frame bearing only light brush on enough just to leave thin film, it would stay on as long as you can imagine. I spray rem oil to clean when need to re grease. I use mostly for heavy duty and saltwater reels. For my finesse reels, I use Shimano drag grease on main gear and 90w oil on worm gear. It spin more freely but require service more often.

Found a new favorite reel grease
Very interesting, my question is how often do you have to apply and how well does it work in moisture environment? I use corrosionX grease on some of the reels, mainly to protect moisture. It stick to surface good last a long time. Normally I just brush on some of the bearing and reel frame and main gear only with heavy duty and spinning reels. I feel the smoothness but not as freely as I would want too. Thinking of changing but not sure which one.

Latest Catch Pics Thread
Let them fight over BFS and BSF, who use lightest line and lightest lure, baitcaster vs spinning. Me, I use whatever that make me happy. It is not just about catching fish but enjoy what you love FISHING.

Which Baitcaster? new tech or old faithful?
The MH Tatula rod get pretty soft tip than other MH rod and should be able to handle 1/4jig/Texas rig exceptional well, not ideally but can be done. I own 3 MH OG Tatula which used pretty much same blank. If you are looking for purely distance, it is gonna be hard to beat Shimano after you dial in especially coming from Mag brake Daiwa. I don’t own Met MGL but I would gaveit the first choice, I replaced bantam MGL with 21 Zillion and couldn’t be happier. You mentioned you want not so over price reel to match Tatula rod? Those reels you listed are in 300 price point. Why not get a new ideal Medium rod for long distance and lower price reels? Again don’t get me wrong Tatula rod is fish way above their price point, the sensitivity, light weight and well balanc can compare with any 200-250 rods any day. This way you have two setup for even more versatile. For example, I got 20 Zodias 7’2” M rod for long distance weightless Senko and Fatika. This rod can load up and cast very well, pair with a little cheaper like Curado 70 MGL or even SLX MGL (if you plan to use 30lb braid or 10-12lb mono/FC). This setup might gain you 10-15yds more compare to what you have now. The cheaper 21 Curado 7’2” M rod is worth a look to for even lower price (from what I hear it built from old zodias blank.

First Foray Into BFS
@Big Rick sorry to make your post gone wrong. It just anytime there are post about “BFS”always some negative comments right of the batch. The thing is your post didnt ask for anyone opinion. You have done your research well, asked the one who know then decided to buy what you think best for you. Now you just wanna share your new rigs and your joys with all of us, but still some wanna jumped in and doubt what you have already bought. It is still a short term to tell if you gonna achieve what you are looking for or hate it and decide to sell but at least for now we should respect and support your decision. If it is post to ask which one is better, I would stay understand but ridiculously some comments coming from ones that never tried BFS or wanna be. Sorry again and I’ll stop myself for now.

How well do You deal with getting skunked?
I should have my wife answers how she handle me when I got skunked which happens on daily basis, because I always come home whining and tell her “honey let’s move, there is no fish in this lake”. ???

First Foray Into BFS
Again with your silly comments about cost of BFS just like last time when you said you have to have 600 dollars bfs setup. Cost has nothing to do with this if you know what you are doing. For god sake my spinning reels are more expensive than my baitcasters, BFS if I can say so. My bluegill spinning setup cost as much if not more compare to bass setup. And no I did not say I’m better than those with cheaper setup. I like what I like, I enjoy what I spent and that I can afford. Oh btw, I never considered myself a BFS guy, I just use what I like and think suitable for its job. If you don’t enjoy BFS, understandable but don’t judge those ppl that enjoy. OP already bought his setup and what you want him to do??? I think we are here to help and support. For example my bluegill setup, Daiwa Tatula, MC speedstyle Bass BFS setup cheap Abu Revo + shallow spool and budget MC rod. Don’t make me get into crappie setup I have 4-5 in spinning and 4-5 in baitcasters.

First Foray Into BFS
Again well educated thumb and a suitable setup reel can prevent some backlash. Yes backlash happened to everyone less or more but better to educate your thumb than choosing easy way out like recommending spinning. Im not saying I’m better than you or anyone else here but I accept myself challenge. I fish super fluke in 25 mph wind gut (cross wind)with alphas SV Tw yes I got a few professional overrun that can be fixed easily. I got distance and workable lure that spinning not gonna stand a chance. I was only one fishing and ppl looked at me like I were a maniac. I caught 3-4 fish plus a 4lber though.
