River groceries
Winter is my favorite time to fish but I have also been off work all week. Days should be getting longer soon though!! I don't know how y'all can survive without fishing for 3-4 months, I would have to get out on the ice or uproot and fly south! Although high temp here today is 25 so I wouldnt quite call it a tropical vacation destination. We could get some hard water in shallow coves the next few days

Christmas fishin'
Got out on the river from about 8:30-noon this morning. The air was really cold, my face nearly froze off so I drove slowly from spot to spot. Only got one largemouth but he made the trip worth it! Water temp was 47-49, current was quite swift. I took the boat home and got word that Christmas festivities were slightly delayed so I bank fished on the way to mom's house and got two bluegill. Merry Christmas!

Neoprene gloves not warm at all
Neoprene gloves make my hands sweat then the sweat freezes. I still can't fish with gloves on, but then again I live in a somewhat warm climate. Started at 21 degrees Saturday and didn't need gloves, just alternate putting each hand in your pocket every once in a while

Where should I move to?
Hahahahahaha. Accurate description. Word of mouth travles faster than the speed of light in TN. If your neighbors cousin has a flat tire you will hear about it before he makes it home

Cold day smallmouth
I tried it literally all day with no bites. With the water at 55 my guess is that it's not quite cold enough yet for it here

What do you think this is?
Was your boat anywhere near a cliff or bridge or dam wall? If not, that's a crap ton of shad with some predators amongst them. if you are close enough to a vertical wall and the water is deep enough, the cone angle will pick it up and the graph will display something similar to your screenshot edit: just looked at the screenshot again and there may be more predators there than shad. I also remembered I have some old screen shots of schools of white bass. This particular picture is with the boat moving 1.6 mph, the display would show much flatter longer lines if you are sitting still, especially on the 3D side

Working to Stay Lean ~
Maybe one day!!! I eat everything that's not nailed down and use all free time to fish or read about fishing........ it's a disease.........fishitis......I'm about 6'1" 205, I tell my girlfriend that I'm the same specs as an NFL free safety, only shaped different and remarkably slower....... I figure keeping all my excess weight around the waist will keep me on the boat deck on those windy days, low center of gravity ya know

Lake Baccarac Dec 3 - Dec 8 *VIDEO ADDED*
People that say largemouth don't fight hard have clearly never caught a big one. I caught an 8 one time that pulled the rod way down in the water and almost pulled me off the deck. Thanks for the report and video and kudos for championing the fighting ability of a largemouth
