Who here enjoys beer?
If I’m looking at my phone, it’s learning about bass on here or checking water levels! Bass addicted real bad

Winter weather ‘19-‘20
My lake front home is probably 80 yards away from the high water mark and WAY higher up. Here’s some pics, the only problem we’ve had is water coming through the foundation but I’ve diverted it all (constant battle with a shovel). The lot is crazy steep, The amount of soil that moves around is a little scary, I could slide off into the lake one day I suppose

Any interest in trapping?
Except catfish tastes way better than possum! I never trapped at all growing up but somehow fell into it as a career (high demand here). I swear I could just load down a truck with mouse traps and make a Good living, people absolutely CAN NOT figure out what to do about a mouse. They try everything other than getting rid of the mouse, it can get funny. Sub sonic noise makers, steel wool, mothballs, I’ve seen it all and got the pictures to prove it haha. We even had one customer set up an elaborate grid/matrix of kite string about 6 inches off the ground To keep a raccoon from walking through his yard! No joke, it looked like those laser beams in the movies that protect precious jewels by triggering alarms. Probably took about a week longer than it would to catch a raccoon. And of course it didn’t help in any way

Drop Shot Marabou
Easy peezy upon first inspection. Marabou should be available at any fly shop or bass pro shops. Do you have any experience tying flies or jigs? You just wrap thread around a hook shank and from there the creativity begins. A marabou fly like shown at 17:13 looks quite simple, just start laying material on the hook and secure it with the thread. When you’re done, either use a whip finish or several half hitches. I used to tie marabou and duck feather jigs without a vice or thread, just held it all in my hands and used mono instead of thread. They still caught fish. Don’t be intimidated by trying to make your own, it’s easier than you think and the fly/lure in the video has to be one of the easiest things I’ve ever seen to make. Most flies have 12-15 different steps where that marabou is basically a one step fly

Who here enjoys beer?
That can happen! One of my old fishing buddies got stuck on it real bad, he’s been sober for 4 years now I think. He was in a bad way, body shutting down. I forgot I do enjoy a stout every once in a while, I believe you mentioned Murphy’s once (delicious)

Show off your chicks (chickens)
Luckily we don’t have any of them here. Although they did teach us common weasel and lesser weasel in mammals class in college and claim they live here. I’ve set traps 40 hours a week for over a decade since then and never caught one, never seen a roadkill, and never known another soul that saw one dead or alive in East TN. Now mink, we have in decent numbers . My buddy caught one raiding his trout hatchery not too long ago

Wow. Water is not to be fooled with. They built all the TVA dams in the 30s and 40s, it’s a miracle one of them hasn’t collapsed. Then again this region really didn’t have electricity or many people before the dams and was always flooded. Double edged sword I guess. They said Knoxville was a ghost town until the late 1800s when a steamboat captain from Cincinnati figured out how to get his vessel upsteam through muscle shoals in north Alabama. His method was power up as far as possible, then tie ropes to trees and drag up through the shoals. Once boats were able to bring supplies the town boomed

Who here enjoys beer?
I like em! As a youngster I liked any flavor, nowadays I like yellow ones. Pilsners, lagers, and occasionally an IPA. Those dark beers just aren’t as appealing as they used to be. Well that and I’m getting old! But you can bet if there’s a sporting event to attend I’ll find a bottle of suds and enjoy

Oh dear. I don’t even know where to start asking questions on that one! They did actually make a law in at least one county in the smoky mountains forbidding building houses on mountain tops. When you get near Gatlinburg a lot of the pretty mountains have hundreds of cabins on top. The locals finally had enough in one county and somehow got the law passed. Pretty impressive as most often developers in this area can get any law changed to do whatever they want wherever they want (money talks). They just changed a decades old zoning law to bulldoze a forest and build a subdivision right behind our shop at work

so the question is , where are they going to be chomping tomorrow? Hahaha

Winter weather ‘19-‘20
It's certainly possible. The river went way down today but he took that picture midday, not sure when it crested. I'm sure the builder said " I've never seen the water this high." I think it was higher last year, when the wind blows from the gulf we always get it good . If it wasn't for the TVA highland storage reservoirs the cities would have to be moved back away from the water haha. All the oldest high dollar real estate in chattanooga is up on a high cliff, kind of like Memphis but way steeper .
