Cool picture! I was fishing from a kayak in the ocean one time amongst a bunch of mangroves. I had probably paddled about 2.5-3 miles and a fog like that rolled in. I freaked out a bit and just started paddling toward what I thought was the correct direction. Luckily I was right but I’m no ocean expert and boy was I scared

Please by all means don’t stab it! This will only make a bad experience worse. You could stab a fish in the brain several times and it would still be alive. Just thump them in the head if it comes to that. Stabbing is about useless , especially with fish reptiles and amphibians. A good way to learn this lesson is to go frog gigging. The first time I went we gigged a bunch and took them home. Every single one was still alive when we got there

Some bass are line shy, some aren’t. That’s why you get a lot of yes and no’s on the first question. Fluorocarbon sells pretty well....... I always tie my line directly to the lure unless it’s a heavy little Cleo or blade bait in which case I use a split ring . I guess I don’t need to attempt to answer the chum question since you are in Cali. What to do whenever you catch a 20 lb bass? Whatever the heck you want! Personally I would party like it’s 1999
