  1. @DitchPanda I dealt with incompetent leadership at my last job. We had four Construction Managers, one knew his stuff but couldn’t make decisions, another one was half competent, and the other two left us Field Supervisors scratching our heads wondering how they got those positions. A couple of us Field Supervisors were doing their work. I didn’t see any change coming so I decided to look elsewhere. I’m now a Construction Manager for another telecommunications company with a 20% pay increase. My point, if you’re not happy where you are or your management team is failing you, look for other opportunities. You might be surprised by what else is out there.
  2. Does stressing about the situations solve the problems? If not, why stress about them? When I first started my career I would stress over the workload I was given. It was impossible for me to complete on time. I would stress out to no end! I talked to my supervisor about it and he told me to do what I could do and it’s his job to figure the rest out. As my career grew and I worked my way into supervisory roles, I used that same advice to my technicians. That advice along with me being able to identify and take care of potential problems before they kept my technicians happy and the turnover was almost zero. Another thing I’ve learned over the years is people can be toxic! Let’s face it, some people can handle stress and other people can’t. The ones who can’t need to vent and some of them just like the gossip. They’ll pour their stress all over you and if you let that get to you even though you can deal with your own stress, their stress will gobble you up if you’re not careful. I had that at my last job. One of my coworkers was a great guy and we had a lot of fun together but, at the end of every month when I our deadlines were approaching he’d stress. He’s also a gossip hound. I’d let him spill his guts and it would go in one ear and out the other. If you’re not able to do that, stay away from the noise. At the end of the day, if you’re constantly stressed there’s a problem and you should go to your management. If management doesn’t identify the problems and try and fix the problem and it’s so bad it’s affecting you, it might be time to start looking for something else. I hope it all works out for you in the end.
  3. Can’t take a bass boat in the ocean you say? Jacob Wheeler says, “hold my beer.”
  4. I’m getting reports here of frost as deep as 5’ under the roads and 2-3’ off the roads. We haven’t had frost like this in years! The roads are heaving so I’ll be thankful when the frost goes away. Right now I feel like I’m riding a rodeo bull every time I drive.
  5. One of my builds I’m doing now is in Coast Guard city USA. Virtual meetings most of the day today meant I parked my butt on the frozen shores of Lake Michigan. You can’t tell by the picture but the iceberg filled water was rolling today.
  6. Redneck line stripper is what I use. Take the cardboard of an empty toilet paper roll and put it on the chuck of a cordless drill. 😎
  7. West Michigan saw only 17% of available sun for the month of January. 😎
  8. For me right now, it’s raising our 14 year old son. That means getting him to and from football and baseball practice, and his games. Besides bass fishing we hunt. He bow hunts and we both turkey hunt. When we aren’t running him around, the three of us just spend time together. The wife and I have always made it a point to have a date night either Friday or Saturday. Eventually there will come a time where we’ll have more free time once he’s driving so I’m sure I’ll need to find something to keep me out of trouble.
  9. Back in my HVAC days I had a few no heat calls (always in the middle of the night BTW) that were the result of snow covering the intake pipe. Quick easy fix, unless it were on the roof. Sorry folks you’re on your own on that one.
  10. We’re right about half of you right now. Ours have been a little here and a little there. No real big snow events so far.
  11. I’ll bet that was lite as a feather!
  12. @Bankbeater The size of your bass divided by your state record (of that particular species of bass) and multiply it by 100.
  13. This must’ve taken place quite some time ago. I’ve been here eight years and never seen it. Either way I like it! Are we going on the honor system or does a picture of the weight need to be attached? Either way, “how much does this fish way” entrants need not apply. 😁
  14. Those are some beautiful pups @A-Jay
  15. Keep in mind, the shallower the water the less you’ll see to the side, the same goes for 2d and down imaging. Keep that in mind when making your decision. I’d say if you can swing the $ get it. It’s better to have it than not have it.
  16. I’m right there with you brother. They all hurt. Hank is 12 and you know GPs. The spirit is still 100% there but the body is quickly going away. This one is going to sting for quite a while. He’s living the good life a little better than normal right now.
  17. Might as well be a 501C3 at this point @Siebert Outdoors
  18. @MN Fisher easy now! I’m hair deficient.
  19. Nope! They’re jigging. The head guy said he expects the winning weight to be around 12lbs. It looks like it’s mostly going to be panfish.
  20. https://usangling.org/ice-fishing-worldchampionship-2025/ The ice fishing world championship is going on this weekend. 1: I didn’t know there was such a thing 2: There are anglers from 10 different countries 3: It’s basically in my backyard on a 300 acre lake only a 15 minute drive from me 4: This year they’re releasing the fish after weigh-in (although the news story showed floating fish in the bucket 😁) 5: FFS guys eat your heart out, THERE ARE NO ELECTRONICS. There are also no mechanical augers or vehicles used. And if you’re wondering, no I’m not going to go stand on a giant ice cube and freeze my but off to watch a handful of anglers weigh a bunch of bluegill. Kind of interesting though that out off all the lakes in Michigan or anywhere in the frozen north, they’d select this lake in this small town.
  21. I don’t know how I missed this but, I’m sorry to hear you’re going through this. Positivity will help immensely. Leave no stone unturned and have no regrets.
  22. That’s the whole point and for me anyways the reason I joke about all this. Everything has been handed out on a silver platter to everyone, except for the location.
  23. 5” last night with another 5-8” coming tomorrow night into Saturday morning.
