  1. Its to bad we couldnt do like a Bass Resource LTB slam this summer. Not for prizes or anything, but for the sheer entertainment of the videos it will provide. You can use one rod and one reel for all the baits in the box. Gives me a reason to start LTB again.
  2. If you are forced to skimp on one or the other, skimp on the rod and buy a nicer reel. Its going to make learning a whole lot easier on you.
  3. you want to set the cast control knob so that the lure falls slowly, but doesnt overrun when it touches the ground. Then you want to adjust your magnetics and/or centrifugal brakes. If you have a 1-10 setting start at 10 and get used to casting there.Move it to 9 and get comfortable there.Remember the cast control will have to be adjusted every time you change lures unless your going from 3/8-3/8.Every reel is different and takes some time to get dialed in.Your thumb is your friend here.Id kick your braid up to 40# to prevent digging and id buy something like Power Pro or Sufix 832.Also,what is the lure rating on the rod your using for this? If your low end is 1/4 and thats what your throwing i would use a 3/8oz lure to see if that makes a difference.
  4. I think Academy still had purple lime passion and sapphire blue online
  5. I got the same one for shallow cranks and lipless. My hook keeper fell out before i even used it.Not a terrible rod though.Good buy for 19$
  6. Im sure @Darren. can give you the lowdown on catching some VA chunks. So lots of rain and just enough snow to up the miserable factor. Its like mother nature is just taunting me now.Not even a coating of snow on the ground after all that.I can hear her laughing at me.
  7. Welcome to the the boards. You can get a Daiwa Tatula CT on eBay for 100$ slap it on a 7' medium heavy Berkley lightning shock rod for 50$ max.Spool it with mono to start with as your probably going to go through some line learning to use it.You will have a very well rounded setup to start.Im sure others will be here to give you some input soon.Oh and dont get discouraged with it.It takes some time to learn, but youll love it when you get it.
