  1. coves were really clear, main lake was a bit stained. Will deftly have to go back soon. Went out on my lake for 20 minutes and caught a 3 lber dragging a Texas rig over milfoil. Fished a drop shot and a chatterbait for a little bit longer, didn't feel like staying long. Going to start throwing a Carolina rig in there as the milfoil is getting abundant.
  2. Hit Beltzville from 5 am to 8 am today. First time there, I caught one 2lb smallmouth on a drop shot in 12' and saw some cruiser largemouth, big ones and little ones, but they refused to eat no matter how close I put it to their mouths.
  3. I was able to solve the issue using a real mechanic grade jack. Let me reiterate the problem I was forced to solve: I was rushing to tack trailer off the car. When I lowered the rolling jack attached to the trailer, the pin wasn't in all the way and the tongue crashed down. I wasn't able to lift it up like I can on my other Jon boats because it is a heavy bass boat. I attempted to solve the issue by using a small car jack and logs to slowly work the tongue up, shimming the log forward and continually raising the tongue higher with each rep. This works a bit, but just barely not enough the solution was using a profffesional jack and it solved itself right a way.
  4. I went to unhook boat and trailer from car today and the Fulton jack pin wasn't in all the way. long stay short the tongue crashed into the ground. This is a heavy bass boat that I can't lift up. I used a spare tire jack to raise it almost all the way, then inch it closer using a log to hold my place, but I can't quite get it. Any tips?
  5. I like the 7'3" mh dobyns rods my club uses for frogging, and its what I used today. Once I get all my rods ready for this tournament season ill be running a 6'10" h xf with a tail sv and 50 lb braid for smaller frogs skipping cover, and a7'4" avid x fans Curado dc for frogging mats. mh works, depends on the length of the rod though.
  6. caught a few fish on frogs today. Water temps in the mid- high 70*s. First frog fish of the year, and first time throwing it this year as well.
  7. I took the prop off an old 36" transom trolling motor and zip tied the transducer to that. works flawlessly.
  8. get a 1448T Lowe or Alumacraft and build a deck for it, They are well made boats and will be stabler than our smoker crafts. Add a trolling motor, outboard and graph, you're set for around you. I also was in you're spot a few weeks ago. I was leaning towards that, then decided on an 186o all weld, with intentions of building a deck down the road. I ultimately decided on buying a 19' triton aluminum
  9. We have a place to stay on Geneva for as long as wed like. Like I said, we are coming from PA. I am going to Vermont the week after this trip. I am willing to explore the Wisconsin area as well. I have heard of relevance before.
  10. You don't think Lake Geneva is worth all the trouble? Would the other lakes you speak of be worth the trip? I would love to catch fish but I mostly want to explore the country and spend time with my friends while fishing. I could care less if we catch anything, just some stuff.
  11. near Chicago, on the way there yikes. what about in the river?
  12. Looks like a dock and matted veggies lake? not sure what type of fishing we will be doing yet as we just started planning it out today. looking for last week of July
  13. boat is an 07, looks like the one is pretty baren, might as well just replace them for peace of mind eh?
  14. I got bluff charged by one the other day. Was hiking in remote area and came up a cliff with a know den nearby. We both scared each other, he charged until he was 5' away and ran off. I was too startled to think clearly and tucked myself off a small ledge to escape. That being said, I live in a bear area. Have seen 10 or so, likely the same one(s) several times over the last few weeks. Over the course of my time in the wilderness, I have seen close to 50. Funniest story is when I was 5 I went down to my lake to check my minnow trap at like 6 am. Only other fisherman out there was a 400 lb black bear, according to my hunter neighbor, who was standing on the shoreline about 15' from me. Funny thing was he had a tracking collar made of leather and I confused him with a dog for this reason. It wasn't until he turned and looked at me from about 10 feet that I realized it was a bear. I remember screaming and running home to tell my parents, when my neighbor came outside.
  15. I'm planning to drive from PA to WI to fish Lake Geneva and Lake Michigan with two of my friends. We have a place to stay on the lake. We are planning one day for driving out, one for coming back and 4-5 in the middle for fishing. I will be towing my boat. My friends and I are tough and cheap. We don't mind camping and want to spend as little money as possible. With the trip out being 650 miles, I plan we will only need to stop for gas once each way. I am thinking we could all put down like $500 for spending and split the costs that way. Before the trip, we need to iron out a few things. If we are bring another three people and another boat, we have more to think about. Also, I will need to replace my trailer tires and get the vehicle ready for a long haul. Are there any suggestions from people who have taken a long trip like this before? I am not nervous about long rides, been doing it for years with my family, but ive never towed a boat, let alone my new bass boat more than 3 hours. I know gas a tolls will add up, but between three people its not as bad.
  16. I love em in clear water right when it goes from morning to midday heat, that part when there isn't any shade anymore and the bite is slowing dying off quick.
  17. I’m in Madison for a night and looking to bass fish with someone. Unfortunately I don’t have any gear with me but I’m willing to buy lunch and pay for gas. Thanks!
  18. looks like you're about 15 min down the road...
  19. looks like a razr shad
  20. sorry. I meant network all three gamins. I don't think you can, but I know for a fact you can't cross netw0rk different brands. I am stuck between the brand of my front unit
  21. Just got a new triton bass boat. It came with a helix 7 g3n mega si and hook 7 at the console, a cheap helix 7 at the bow and a hook 5. I want to put my Garmin echomap plus 93sv units at the console, one for mapping and one for side scan or down view. at the bow I want either a helix 12 or echomap 12". I like the idea of the 360 imaging more than panoptic, but I think its out of the question for a while. I will be upgrading my trolling motor, redoing the carpet, and a bunch of other stuff before I buy that. Im still looking for a single 12" unit up front though. Can I network all three if I go Garmin? I don't like the helix units I have on my boat right now at all.
  22. Friends and I want to take a camping/fishing trip on a river and pretend we are like huck Finn. We want to fish, hunt, cook, and camp all on the river. I am wondering if it is big enough for a bass boat. we are looking to spend 3 days and 3-4 people.
  23. how do y'all link posts that show up as images not links again?
  24. Im set to buy a new to me triton tomorrow. Boat is in Maryland but we will be meeting in Delaware. I am coming from PA. Boat and trailer are titled. My plan is to get the bill of sale notarized in Delaware and then take it back to PA to register. Are there any special things I need to do or change?
