Eastern PA Fishing Reports
amen to that. if it stayed like it was the last couple days, the new moon should've pushed the big girls shallow. not happening with 4" of snow up here. That being said, scouted a river I wanna drop a drift boat in. only 50 yards wide and hecka current, but good potential. Also, buddy of mine is headed to blue marsh tomorrow for his first time. Any advice I can give him? Ive never been there myself.

Should I use 65lb braid for buzzbaita
1. thick floro takes a while to sink. I had to use straight floro on a whim one time and it worked ok. If you have a decent 8.1 reel, its cranking in almost 9' of line per second (36" ipt @ 3 turns per second). the line doesn't have time to sink. 2. I also believe having a section of stretchy line helps with hookup ratio. Might be psychological but I think it helps. 3. I fish clear water primarily. so the floro helps. im not sold on fish seeing the line, but again it adds confidence. That being said, if im fishing heavy vegetation, I use straight braid. Open water and shallow cover, I use the floro leader. My reccomendation is to try it out one day fishing for fun. doesn't even have to be when they are biting. Just make a few casts and see how it feels. Like others said, it works for me and to each their own. good luck out there!

Curado K Setup
thanks guys, I didn't notice the external dial until just now. That is likely the cause. I will try again if it warms up. no sense in fishing with frozen line.

Curado K Setup
just bought two Curado K reels. They were supposedly used a few times, but I think they are brand new. Reels came with line. Amazingly enough, the line I planned on spooling the reels with, 65lb braid for the 8.5:1 and 20 lb floro for the 7.2:1, is what was on them. I am coming from Daiwa reels, so im not familiar with the SVS. Got out on the water for all of 8 casts and had trouble. granted it was 20* and I had micro guides and braid so ice was a factor. I need a guide on how to set the reel up please.

Inexpensive frog rod
I like the other lightning shock version a lot. its not the best, but its solid at the price point for sure. check out the news carbon fire rod, Winn grips, im8 graphite, sometime s 40$ at walmart edit, dicks not walmart, tho walmart has the Berkley rod. dicks has both https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/p/lews-carbon-fire-casting-rod-17lewacrbnfr7ft3hrod/17lewacrbnfr7ft3hrod

Tatula Elite blowing up my spool every cast.Help?
imo, the dropping slowly with out backlash when it hits the floor is a myth. I tighten it until there is slight play. Using these reels is a learning experience, at the end of the day, it just takes time. That being said. put it on ten, make sure line is over the bar, and slowly loosen the spool tension like you did, starting at tight until it works ps what line rod and lure?

Bought nib curado 200 today 50.00
Or, maybe he just got a good deal on a solid reel. I'd imagine that being way more likely than some "grey market conspiracy theory". That is the metaphorical price you pay for neglecting to do prior research. As to OP, you got a great deal on a reel, congrats.

Most slime resistant rig / jigheads?
split shot rig. Small split **** the size of a pea, 6-12" from a 1/0 hook and a zoom finesse worm. best rig. pitch to ever and fish it. other than that a drop shot will keep the bait off it. Any lure that is moving will be decent when fish are active.

Tatula Elite blowing up my spool every cast.Help?
Try this: 1. check to make sure you spooled the reel correctly AND that the line correctly goes through the TWS. 2. Make sure the line goes OVER the bar near the TWS this should be the cause of your poor results. if not, here is a reminder on how to setup a real, regardless of zero adjustment: 1. tighten spool tension knob all the way 2. Set mag dial to 10 tie on a 3/8 oz jig or the likes 3. make a cast 4. loosen spool tension knob slightly 5. repeat steps 3-4 until reel functions an alternate approach would be to loosen it until it wobbles back and forth slightly. if not, ill buy the reel

Waterproofing Plywood That's Not Below The Waterline
do not use [ressure treated wood, its heavy and not meant for water, mainly insects, it will corrode aluminum. Don't use sob, its not meant for structural support. Use rustoeum oil based enamel, there coats and you should be good. The oil is a lipid which are naturally hydrophobic, kinda like oil and water science experiment.

Tatula Vs Curado - Rods
looking for a rod to use casting to shallow heavy cover. Main use will be small frogs, buzzbaits, skipping jigs. Accuracy is the priority here, not distance. rod wise, looking at the 7'1" Heavy Tatula and the 6'10" Heavy Curado rods. Reel will be the older Tatula SV, not sure what ration, probably 7.3 instead of 8.1. line will be 40 lb braid overall the rods seem similar. What do you think?

New to jig fishing, interesting thing happened yesterday
I am trying to learn jigs this year like you. All my jig fish this year, probably 12 or so, have been from pitching. Standard black and blue 3/8 oz flipping jig, rage craw trailer. I find that pitching to a target area, like a stump rock or just the shore works best. Even from the bank cast out 20' or so and drag it back.
