  1. ever play tennis? Ever slap someone with the back of your hand? a backhand cast is the same general motion https://spectatorau.imgix.net/content/uploads/2017/01/GettyImages_631265428.jpg?auto=compress,enhance,format&crop=faces,entropy,edges&fit=crop&w=730&h=486
  2. agreed, I also don't want hooks in places they shouldn't be. I would argue that nets are better for the fish if you use the rubber mesh types. I can't see how boat flipping a fish is any better, let alone grabbing by the jaw.
  3. Why don't any pros use nets. I can't think of a single one that does. I don't want to get a treble stuck in my hand when lipping it. I also feel like bass are more likely to shake free when doing this. Solution: nets
  4. I do this on all my spinning rods, not a big fan of them on my casting rods though. How long do y'all wait until you replace the line, as in how low do you let the line on the spool get
  5. Many of my reels are starting to need new line. I am on a tight budget being in college so I tend to keep line on for a while. I am very confident that I spool line correctly. I gravitate towards nicer gear, yet when purchasing line I have no money left. With that being said, I am looking at new line options. As far as spinning rods go, I recently respelled most of them so I could be good. My casting reels have 4 with 15 lb floro, and 1 with 20 lb. The majority have braid however. I zm considering purchasing a bulk spool of Tatsu or Invisx. I currently use all invisx. I know Tatsu is a lot of money up front, but is it worth it in the long run. Id hate to get a backlash and lose 40$ worth of line right there. How long will the unused line last on the spool? I am having issues with line breaking on me thats fresh off the spool for leaders.
  6. gonna use the 65lb silent flip on my flipping rods, then 30 and 50 lb master braid on some of my casting
  7. Lots of my reels are starting to need new line. I ball out on the reels and don't have money to keep respelling them each season, I save my braid and reuse it and I respell everything backwards. It has finally caught up to me. I think im gonna need to respell all my reels for the most part. I am considering switching to Cortland as my buddies all fish it and swear by it. I am a big fan of Seaguar for floro, and use power pro braid, along with other random models. I will likelycontinue to use seaguar florocarbon.
  8. now im dealing with bad fluorocarbon on 4 of my reels, it never ends does it...
  9. friend of mine says otherwise haha. he caught a 42" ski and four bass, biggest went 4-5 and 5-2 I probably wouldn't catch anything either haha
  10. wish I was allowed to go
  11. what were the water temps? caught 30 trout today on opener
  12. this is what I did. I am usually pretty good at freeing lures, simply because I spend a lot of time snagging them. I was worried the 1/2 oz tungsten would kill me when flying back.
  13. Starting to practice flipping this year. On a random cast to the middle, I snagged a log. wasn't able to break the 65lb braid and had to cut a chunk of line off. What do y'all do when you get snagged and can't free the lure or break off?
  14. caught a bunch, left right after I saw this

  17. wondering if the April 18 trout opener will stand or be canceled? This affects bass fishing bc my lake is closed from the time they stock trout to the time they open for trout season, then I can bass fish.
  18. Awesome. I was up there a few days ago, I left because apparently my lake is closed. Not sure on the legality of that one.
  19. I was fishing a private pond of a family friend. I meant mediocre as they were all small fish, used to catching a lot more numbers there. Doesn't help water is 2' higher than last year, not sure why. in the Poconos?
  20. hit a local body with my dad. Caught 15 or so combined in two hours. Biggest was like 2lbs. mediocre day. was this at marsh?
