Left Handed Cranking Reel?
Not currently in the market, but I Have noticed a lack of 5.x:1 gear ration reels, even more so in the left hand models. I have only seen the Abu Winch with a lefty 5:1 retrieve, but the reviews don't look too good. I can't seem to understand why they'd make a gear ration for one retrieve and not the other...

Frogs - setting the hook
I understand that I am supposed to wait to set the hook, I am asking HOW to improve this, I always seem to jerk it away too fast. I like the count method, but it hasn't worked. Might have to spend even more time with it...

Frogs - setting the hook
For the life of me, I can't hook a fish on a frog. I've probably went 50/300 in my land to bite ratio. I am using the right tackle, retrieving it the proper way, but every time I get a blow up, I set the hook instantly, letting reaction time control it. I feel unable to consciously think "I need to wait to set the hook" My strategy has been to not pay attention to or look at my frog when its in the water and to go just on feel, but that seems silly need advice on how to fix this...

Did success create your favorite bait?
My confidence baits, in order from most confident to least confident: Drop Shot, 3.8" Keitech, Spinnerbait, Chatterbait, Swim Jig, & Senko (wacky or Neko). I feel confident in these baits, working to add jigs and frogs (can't set the hook)

How do you like those? I get 50% off eco pro thru the college deal and wanna try em out when I get the funds. As to answer your question, I fish mainly Strike King Finesse Swim Jigs in 1/4 oz and some pewter jigs I got on tackle warehouse a few years ago. I will be trying out the dirty jigs versions as ive heard great things about them, along with eco pro swim jigs. For the 1/4 oz swim jigs, I cast and reel around, not in cover and in open water with sparse vegetation. Throw them on a 7'1" M Moderate with 12 lb mono / 15 lb braid depending on how I have the reel rigged. For the heavier 3/8 - 3/4 swim jigs, I will be ordering a Falcon Lowrider 7'2" MH Mod Fast. Not sure on the reel yet, maybe an elite or Tatula SV. line wise, gonna try 17 lb floro out. I have a similar pitching rod with braid for heavier cover.

Shimano Casitas Usage
hmmm, might end up selling the reel, shame I won't get a tn for it though. I agree with what you are saying, feels unnaturally hard to reel fish in, but it does cast well. I'd Put it on my topwater rod, but I have my cheapest reel on it, the black max which I got for free as a gift haha

Dobyns Champ Cast Rod 7'3" Mh 733 - Swim Jig Rod
like @iabass8 said I don't own that model, but IMO that seems like a perfect rod for 1/4 - 3/8 maybe even 1/2 ounce swim jigs. If I could afford it, Id go with that rod. That being said, I will be using a 7'2" MH Falcon Lowrider as my swim Jig Rod this season. It is also a mod fast, so a bit slower. Personally, I fish a lot of swim jigs like you do, and this seems to be the right direction. Sorry I can't help specifically, but it seems you're on the right track. Im putting 17 lb invisx or tastu on my rod one it comes in.

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG HERE?
I like to spool my line very similar to the way @Bass_Fishing_Socal does it. I made my own out of scrap wood and metal I had lying around. First reel I purchased, the guy at the store spooled it for me. He messed it up, so I said "if you want it done the right way, do it yourself" That being said, here's how I spool casting reels (modified over 4 years): Remove old line from reel Place reel on a rod (I prefer a broken rod with only the first guide from the reel seat) Thread the line through the first guide from reel seat (at least) AND reel guide as well. ***If spooling braid, add 10-12 lb mono backing OR electrical tape - must be at least enough to cover the spool*** Use modified uni knot with only 3 wraps to attach backing to spool Pull tightly and rotate spool in both directions Ensure the knot AND reel guide are centered Cut line as close to spool as possible to prevent interference later on Spool enough line to cover the exposed spool, like I mentioned with electrical tape Attach main line via modified double uni knot with 3 wraps per side Double check to make sure line is threaded through the line guide of the rod and the reel, and that your drag is very tight, along with spool tension knob Place the spool somewhere that will allow the spool to spin vertically with line spinning FROM THE TOP *** I tend to use my spooling station, but a friend and a pencil works, basically any method of keeping the spool stable and upright will work*** Boil a small pan of water, enough to saturate the entire spool Wait for the boiling water to cool to around 100ish plus degrees (will vary) Place the spool into the water for a few minutes. you may need to add weight to keep it submerged *** Above step not necessary with braid*** Acquire a moist cloth to place between your hand and the line while spooling Begin spooling the reel by reeling at a constant rate until the line reaches the lip of the spool. Check for smooth lay while reeling. maintain pressure as well, this makes sure the line lays smooth and without kinks, Cut line off, spray KVD Line N Lure or similar spray. Wait 30 mins Spray again and cast in yard or other dry area spray the deeper line that becomes exposed after a cast. There ya go, my how to on spooling a casting reel the best way. This is my at-home diy version. I don't tend to spool reels on the water, but if I had to, I would remove the heating and line conditioning, as I don't tend to carry boiling water and line in lure (tends to spill) while i'm on the boat. This is not how I spool spinning reels. will be happy to explain or show if need be. Conclusion I know this is somewhat unrelated to OP's question, but spooling your reels correctly is important, OP likely did not spool his reel correctly. I started doing it myself four years ago and have been learning since. this is my current method and has been for about a year now. like almost anything, especially in fishing and (s*x), the more you do something the better you get .

Hi vis braid choices
I have 15 lb pline tcb8 on a reel and im not a fan, its yellow, has faded, seems to knot easily compared to power pro, and is not very abrasion resistant.

Duplicating Lakeview G3 Cards
I am wondering if it is possible, and legal, to copy and paste my quickdraw and waypoints and stuff from one Sd card and place it on another, for use in a different unit?

Shimano Casitas Usage
have a 7.2:1 Casitas. It is one of my three lower end reel in my arsenal. It is on a rid that is leaving soon. The reel is ok but its not great. What presentations would this reel be good for? I was thinking swim jig with 17lb flor but im not sure.

Tatula Elite Spool
Just bought new Tatula Elite. I am not exactly sure what rod it will go on, but I am leaning toward the new 766Flip Champion XP. I started a debate about braid vs floro for flipping in a another thread, and they both look really good. Braid for vegetation, floro for docks . That being said, I would like to consider purchasing a spare spool and swapping out based on the lake. what spools fit in this reel? I couldn't find any.

Nice! I have 2, got em both for 50$. I like them, but they aren't as nice as my more expensive reels. Ended up selling one to make the other one free. I currently have it on a light jig/spinnerbait rod, but will be moving it to my swim jig rod for a while until fall when it will meet its final resting place on a cheap 6'6" M jerkabit rod that scorpion looks so nice

Help Selecting 1/4 oz t rig / jig rod
those all look tip heavy to me. I prefer a balance spot about an inch or so above the back of the front locking nut. and I "reelize" those are pretty light reels, but then again those rods are supposedly light so it gets nullified

Braid on crankbait rod?
my light crank/topwater rod is a Cabela's Tournament ZX 7'1" Med Mod and a 6.3:1 Cabela's Arachnid casting reel. I started it off with 12 lb mono, loved it. I have caught more fish on this setup than any one I own, its also my oldest setup, going into its 4th season. I mainly threw smaller lures like 1/4 oz swim jogs and trebles and senkos. A while later, I believe 2 years ago, I randomly decided to put 15 lb power pro on it. First cast, walked down the lake to try it out before a tournament, caught a 3lber on a Crankbait. I was set. I ended up really liking the sensitivity of the braid. Being a reaction approach, it worked out well. currently have 12lb on it now, will be switching back to braid. If you have a moderate or mod fast action to compensate for the lack of stretch in braid, it could work. If you're cranking rock a lot or gin clear water, might not be the best. For me, I throw spooks, small swimbaits like keitechs, and small Crankbaits on this rod, so braid will be favorable, and I can move reels around if need be.

I think this thread is single handedly keeping Gary in business right now. Is Dobyns considered a small business? People were just talking about their massive production floor if I am not mistaken. They seem to be selling a ton of rods to us

Flipping Stuff
Exactly what I was looking for. Will probably spool my swim jig rod (7'2" MH MF) with 17 lb floro and use it around docks and rocks when need be, use the big stick for grass. I can see why the Texas/punch rig would come through cover better than the standard jig. I am thinking jig around wood, trig/punch in grass
