  1. its ALWAYS worth it! ...unless your life is on the line...
  2. Today I fished a 30 acre quarry near my house. It is mostly a cliff, with two sloping areas that are fishable. The water was really warm, ti my suprise. Also, the water was gin clear. The bottom had algae and hydrilla attached to the rocks. there is a drop off near the shallow ares too. Spawning bass cleared the algae away and left bare rock. I saw empty beds, roaming fish, and active beds. Most of my nearby ponds are mid spawn. I thought this quarry would still be cold and pre spawn. also saw bluegill on beds. some fish were finicky, others were not. Can bass spawn in 10' of water? Why were the gills spawning already? Does this quarry start the spawn earlier or later? i caught 12 bass between a pound and 3 pounds. saw 3 schools of 20 bass. No big girls though. Why were they in schools? Where are the big fish? Thanks!
  3. Rod: St Croix Bass X 7' M Reel: Daiwa Tatula CT 7.3:1 Line: 30 lb suffix 832 and 15 lb fluorocarbon leader I am only 16 and in a similar position. This setup will be about 200, the braid will make casting easy, leader will help in the clear water, Tatula CT is a great choice. If you buy the Bass X from Dick's, it will be 80. Hope this helps!

Does anyone here go on hiking trips? Not talking about a few hour walk on a trail in the woods, but multi-day, off the grid, trips with 1-2 people. Ive always wanted to do that with my dad. I live in pa. Anyone know good hiking spots? Looking for general info about this type of hiking too. Looking to gather info!

I am 16 now. I am an avid hiker angler and outdoorsman.. i do not hunt. I live in a part of the country where bears and other large predators re common. Looking for a handgun that i can use for self defense, survival, and bring with me on my hiking trips. I am also considering a rifle of some sort, maybe ill get that if i start hunting. Anyways, i have a while to go, but i want to learn more about guns so what do you recommend?
  16. i love skipping wacky worms with spinning rods and swim jigs with casters
  17. it only worth it if you will be there long enough to make it back by money saved.
  18. I reccomended that he save up for the tournament zx spinning combo, for 125. it has a lifetime warranty and has been reliable to me.
  19. Anyone fish near Lancaster MA? My mom grew up near there, and I want to find some people to fish with when I visit my family.
  20. probably a domestic carp...AKA... a Koi. they are the same species, but the koi are stocked. I have the same thing, a local quarry (hence the name) is stocked with a few big orange ones. the water is deep and gin clear, i can see them from all over the quarry!
  21. with age comes experience, and therefore wisdom.
  22. Im going to try and be like @fishnkamp and PM you with my advice in a more lengthy, descriptive a helpful way. Im doing homework (I'm 16) right now, but i will be done in an hour (if I stop getting distracted by the forums) and ill be free to offer my opinion and help you. @fishnkamp is very helpful too. I am willing to bet he will give similar advice (although his is likely better, being that he is older; therefore wiser)!
  23. 15 lb braid with a 6 -12 lb floro or mono leader 12 lb momo for the medium caster 30 lb braid with optional 15 lb leader for MH caster 50 lb braid and a spare spool of 20 lb mono for the heavy caster don't get a rod with micro guides if you will be using a leader, the knot will *knot* come through the guides as well as they will come through normal guides. you can always switch reels and rods with each other, so you could put floro on the medium caster and braid on the mh, then switch to the braid and medium rod for topwater
