Launching/Loading Bass Boat - Beginner
Were do you plan to call your "Home" lake? Unless you plan on launching on Lake Michigan, most launches are not real busy. If your just practicing, give way to anyone who wants to launch/recover. You might pick up a few ideas watching them. I would advise against practicing at a river. Some of the rivers around here can be a little swift. One less challenge, while you figure things out. Also, there are a few launches in the area that have fees. Something else to consider as you plan your day.

Tips for fishing at night
My stern light was right at eye level. Turn of the head, and I'm looking at a bright white light. I found another section of aluminum pipe and swaged on what I had. Now the light is higher up, and comfortably out of my line of sight.

Rotating tires on a single axle boat trailer ?
Ha!! I have the same thing! 2000 Silverado 2500 long bed with around 50K miles. We only pull it out to work. We keep it for the gooseneck horse trailer mostly, although it has come in handy plenty of other times.

Lake fees?
The only place I pay is to launch in Lake Michigan. The city of Portage owns the marina and ramp, $15 a day. It's a nice ramp, so no complaints. Better than a gravel incline into the water. I've never seen them checking for tickets when launching. If you didn't have to park, and did a launch and go, you might not have to really pay. Not sure.

Heated seats! He should have led with that.

Boat cover fabric question
Why not shrink wrap in the winter, then Sunbrella in the summer? That way you should get twice the life of your canvas cover.

I took my dog back to the rescue…
Quick, just so everyone knows returning your dog to the rescue, is one of the most kind things you can do for your dog if you can't keep him anymore. My wife and I have fostered A LOT of dogs over the years. For various reasons, many were returned dogs. Like you, I would find it inconceivable not to have my dog with me... Anyhow, Merry Christmas

Sleeping at anchor in a bass boat?
There is an inlet to a lake I often fish. Quite, no one for miles. I have more than once wished I had a hammock, or something to catch a few winks on. I don't think the seat posts could take my weight like that. Also, the console is in the way...

Tracker 2018 Heritage/2019 Classic edition boat
That's interesting. Given how boats slide off so easily, you would think a little roughness would be preferred. I'll have to look more closely.

My bunks are still holding on. When the time comes I plan on getting some 8' plastic lumber 2X4's from Menards and doing it myself. https://www.menards.com/main/building-materials/landscaping-materials/landscape-edgers/8-black-plastic-lumber/1129972/p-4221069730084638-c-5783.htm?tid=b7872d2c-19f4-4269-8a36-26d200e87fa4&ipos=2&exp=false

Best buff / neck gaiter for hot weather?
I've bought from SA in the past. They don't have the selection they use to. Anyhow, they are cheap and easily modified. For protecting my neck I'll trim them down, otherwise it's just too much material bunched up and hot. I'll also make a 6" slit at the bottom along both seams. Tuck that in my shirt to make sure the top of my back and top of my chest stay covered. I use these all the time when I mow in addition to fishing.

Shoes for fishing
A few years ago, on a whim, I bought a pair or mesh covered sneakers. They were the most comfortable sneakers I have ever bought. Then the chumps stopped selling them and I've not found a pair like them since. After that though, I won't buy another pair of leather sneakers again. Way too hot. If your looking for lace up shoes, the mesh covered shoes are the coolest, and lightest you can get. Since then I have been trying slip on "Boat Shoes" like the Hey Dude. I've had them for around six months now, and I find them OK. They fit a lot like slippers. There is not much of an arch, but the soles are soft and when you step they kind-of push up into the arch area. I've fished with them a couple of times now, and my feet were not hurting at the end of the day. I'm not wowed by them so when they do go bad I'll probably buy another pair, unless I run across something better.

Running out of ideas, stuck gooseneck hitch
Late to the party here. My goose-neck horse trailer will often pull up on the truck bed some when separating. At least you didn't get to the point you were cutting and grinding parts off. Glad to hear you got it worked out.

I went into a BassProShop yesterday.
I actually went to BPS yesterday. Saw these guys there and could only think of this post. I don't think I could get through that with a straight face .

Anyone have a covered boathouse? How do you keep the swallows from nesting inside?
This. You need to block their nesting perch, and they can build a nest on almost nothing. I've had luck with the bird spikes. You can buy the plastic ones or custom your own with aluminum flashing and aluminum nails. I've also had luck with Vicks Vaporub as a short term solution.

Tracker 2018 Heritage/2019 Classic edition boat
So the trailer doesn't get much attention other than grease. I might hit a spot or two when washing the boat to knock some mud off or something. The paint isn't smooth and has a rough finish to it. Anyhow, it was starting to get a chalk like something stuck to it. Not expecting too much, I tried Chemical Guys Undercarriage Protectant. What a difference. It really brings back the black to the trailer. It's kind of oily and can be a bit messy. It also has a grape smell to it. Good stuff. We will see how well it holds up.

Changed the impeller yesterday. The hardest part is getting the lower unit back on. It takes some finagling to get it back on properly. The impeller looked good, it probably didn't need changing, but it's 4 years old and I wanted to make sure it was OK. After awhile, as you can see in the picture, the fins started to straighten out. If anyone does change their own impeller, I would change the impeller and faceplate gasket. My gasket tore when I lifted the housing up.

The impeller is part #47-19453T. I got the water pump kit here. What I don't use, like the housing, I'll have on hand. I still have to change it .

Solo launching Jon Boat with no ramp and a small drop off and sand...Would this work?
So if I understand right, you have the boat/trailer in water, 15ft. of space/sand, then your SUV? You could get a tow strap an pull the trailer up 15ft., chock the trailer wheels, hook up and go. The only problem is the jack being pulled through the sand. I would suggest a ski of some sort that would be wide enough to slide over the sand instead of through it. Maybe an old sled. If this works then try a winch.

Nice, must be a test run. I didn't see any screens mounted yet.

Boat Rescue
I thought Sea Tow and USABoat did their thing only on big water. Anyhow, if your really worried about getting a tow, do your search now. Call to the different marinas in the area and ask if they tow. Phone reception...that's a different issue.
