  1. Looks like you may be looking for budget line to use while texas rigging. I dont have any experience with the 2 you listed but my favorite budget line is p-line cxx, Berkley big game, and seaguar red label.
  2. Thats what I'vee picked up on. Its a good quality rod. Love the Winn grips as well
  3. Cabelas tournament zx 7'5 mh crankshaft. It is labeled a crankbait rod but with a fast tip. I use it as a Carolina rig, deep texas rig, football jig rod. I have thrown big cranks, spinnerbait, and chatterbaits on it but I like it for deep water single hook applications best.
  4. I havent used lizards much but have had a few really spectacular days with them. Love dropshotting a 6" lizard with chartruse tail
  5. My pb came on a 12" plastic worm, green pumpkin color, other than that ive caught one other 3lber on it. Is it because those were the only 2 fish in the lake that would eat a green pumpkin worm? I doubt it. I Just dont throw it as much as my usual black, watermelon candy, or junebug. Maybe try starting with your confidence colors and catch a fish or 2 to determine there is active fish in the area then put in a green pumpkin and see if you can get some bites.
  6. Booyah, Jackall, spro
  7. Identical temps to what we have here in southern Indiana. We had about 1 inch of snow around thanksgiving but only rain besides that
  8. Could always try a kastking white max or mega jaws.
  9. 704, 733 or 734 dobyns should serve you well. I'm a fan of the fury series. But have heard good things about all dobyns rods.
  10. I usually have 2 or more rods for my favorite or most successful techniques. For example I will have 2 rods for moving baits with jig hooks (spinnerbait, chatterbaits, buzzbait, and swim jig), 2 or more for pitching (jig and texas rig, braid pitching, fluorocarbon pitching) and 2 for bigger texas rigged plastics (weightless 7 inch senko, 12" worm). As you can tell I'm most comfortable fishing shallow water with plastics.
  11. I have a few glossy, matte, and white blanks. The white looks nice until the middle of the first season, then like mentioned above you start to show yellowing. I also love cork handles. Also am fond of Winn grips.
  12. This is my frog, vegetation, heavy jig set up. Absolutely love it. Even throws the small keara frog nicely
  13. Berkley havoc grass pig
  14. A 4" piece of a stick bait works great. Also if you are throwing a finesse jig a part of a finesse worm works great too. Not sure what they think it looks like but ive had good luck with these trailers in cold water or tough conditions.
  15. Just my guess. But I would say he wanted a bait with a lot of thump, so he used a bigger Colorado blade which meant to keep his bait from "blowing out" he needed a heavier head. And being that he was throwing it in backs of coves he was probably fishing a bit shallow meaning he had to move that spinnerbait fast, which is another reason for having the heavy head and big Colorado blade.
  16. The 7' mh tp-1 is a super versatile rod. But like others have mentioned they do seem to run a bit heavier than stated. It is one rod I always have with me wether I'm on the bank or on the boat.
  17. I like to throw 3/4 ounce spinnerbait this time of year. Nearly a similar setup for me. I always use a trailer. 5 inch swimbait in matching colors to the skirt. Which is either a shad pattern or gill pattern. Deep clear water I throw double willow leaf blades, the shallower and dirtier the water the more thump I try to achieve with Indiana and Colorado blades. I throw these in the high percentage areas that you'd throw a jig. For example, long point, deep wood, standing timber, road beds, deep weedlines.
  18. I have the tp-1 speed stick 7'3 heavy and it is a pool cue. I didnt like it for anything less than half an ounce.
  19. Caught one over 6lbs on a magnum rage bug Texas rigged I think it was one of these
  20. What are you catching them on? I'd love to pitch finesse jigs for those bad boys.
  21. My exact line choice would be 50lb daiwa j braid x4
