  1. I love the lakes that offer both species in a quality size You'll see guys doing 10 different things and they all weigh in similar bags
  2. ? **Unable to add any more reactions today**
  3. Some excellent advise so far: line over the fingertip, watch the line for movement, know how long the lure takes to sink the depth you are fishing .... For me I bought a pair of cutters for the few times a gut hook happens
  4. Heres a video of Gerald Swindle putting braid on his spinning rod, starts about the 2:30 minute mark. He details what happens when you do not have a dedicated spooling station or you are not getting enough distance on your casts. hahahaha lol
  5. My boss used to live in FL and he swears by the red shad culprit worm
  6. It's easier to learn this using a heavier weight as well. The weight moving forward is whats pulling the line off the spool. Often times when pitching too light a weight the lure swings up, as it swings up it is losing momentum, while the spool is turning just as fast as the beginning of the pitch causing the reel to overrun and snarl.
  7. Thats been an excellent jig for me and really shines on the ledges
  8. I routinely leave fish to find fish. I am looking for active bass, I'm not trying to spend 30 minutes coaxing a shy bass into biting. Often I will find schools of fish suspended , some of these schools are actively feeding, others are not I have wasted countless hours trying to get the school to "fire up" The same thing applies to deeper brush, standing timber a lot of time fish just hunker down In my experience I do better trying to find active bass than I do trying to "trick" a weary bass Here in TN for about 8 months of the year here is my routine I will break the section of lake I'm fishing into 50- 100 yd stretches depending on how many targets are there. (targets being both cover and/or structure) I'm throwing a top water (9/10 times its a toad and my favorite way to catch fish) once I get to the end I will go right back down the same section pitching/flipping a reverse rig senko at the same targets This allows some time for the area to settle a little but I'm not missing the active fish that are in that area This is way more productive for me than if I was to milk each target with 7-10 casts before moving to the next one My lake has no weeds so that also comes into play, when I go fish at Chickamauga, you can sit on one patch of weeds all day
  9. Wind is blowing- on the way up the wave all you see is sky, your next view is all water then as you come up you get soaked with all the water crashing over the deck. I dont like it when it blows that much on the big water
  10. He's just a part time pro? hahahaaa Protecting his bag is a smart move
  11. I have a bunch of finesse baits that work on a small stand up jig head. I refuse to use a TURD TRD as a bait
  12. I have a pair of pretty good wire cutters.(knipex) I dont even mess with the going thru the gill trick, just reach down and cut the hook past the barb. Release the fish without the hook and then I have to retie.

I got one of these last year and it's great. Seems much more durable than most of the others I have tried and walks like a dream. I've even hooked a few of those stupid gars with it and it held up well.
  14. Since I didn't pick him on my fantasy team- Mueller will probably run away with this one. I have picked him in several tourneys where he smashes a huge bag and then fades away
  15. I have put in in an area off of Hornsby Rd. It takes you right into Sewee creek that leads to the chick. It's a gorgeous back water area ,but guys fish everywhere on that lake. I've only fished it early spring and late fall. My old tourney partner landed a couple of 8+lbers the first spring we checked it out. I have not been there for a couple of years though. Heres a view where you can see the ramp and the creek from River Rd.
  16. I think this could work. Lots of tourney anglers in NE Ohio. You just have to make it worth their time. Why fish your event instead of any of the other 5 fish events going on that weekend? One thing to consider is that it's easier to cheat with only 1 fish being weighed

When I poured concrete we had an A crew for forming and a B crew. The A team had a laid out truck with about a million miles of extension cords and a couple generators. The B team had a cordless with 3 batteries and a hand saw. The A team did job/projects like the sidewalks in front of the rock and roll hall of fame(couple hundred feet) The B team was tasked with setting up all the sidewalks and driveway aprons for 5 blocks Not all crews are equal
  18. Yep, thats fishing. some days they'll crush it, other days it seems like they are having a taste test. Do you ever try scent on the days they are not really getting it? I never really bought into it, but on those type of days I'm willing to try anything I swear my old tourney partner used to bathe in megastrike. He believed in that stuff and would always use it
  19. Pre fishing tournaments using a jig with the hook cut off, I am amazed at how tight and how long they will hold on I could probably net almost half these fish without having a hook on the end. When a bass slurps up a bluegill, that fish is going to try to escape(bass feels mouth pressure) we'd have a lot of skinny bass if the only time they ate is when they slurped it all the way to the gullet( this is my very unscientific opinion) I know some people wait a couple seconds after feeling the tap(there was a recent thread about this) Since you are getting a quicker response on one end, you might have to be a little slower on the other end.?
  20. Are they giving rebates for not living up to their end of the contract? If they were contracted to air 8 events on Discovery channel and now only have 4 events, surely they dont get the full contract money?
  21. hahahahaaaa Liquid Swords is still one of my favorites I picked up 2 Lew's hank parker rods last year on clearance at wally world. Excellent rods for the $20 I paid for each of them. They retail at $40 and I think they are better than that price point. They have replaced 2 falcon bucoo rods in the $100 range
  22. I think it was a money thing. They are talking that there will be entry fees next year too. But they will change the cup format so everyone earns some money back, Call it the participation trophy league lol But they will let all BPTers fish the FLW procircuit events. Not sure what that will do for points or for the FLW guys trying to qualify for the BPT.
  23. Sometimes the rally in the last inning falls short, makes it exciting for a few moments!!
