  1. I didn’t realize that original Power Pro has such a thinner diameter than 832. I really like how small the diameter is and, how limp the low pound test PP line is in 8 & 10lb. to get the same low diameter I’d have to go down to 6lb Sufix. Thx for the replies guys.
  2. Ned rigs, Bitsy Bug, 4” shaky head rig, popper, and a small crankbait like a shadrap is what I would start with. I fish lakes exactly like what you described and I do great with this group of presentations.
  3. I’ve been using Power Pro 8lb and was thinking about trying the 8lb Sufix out. I use 8lb Seaguar FC as a leader tied with an FG knot. No issues just wanting to try something new.
  4. That is bad rod! My old IMX 783 is fantastic, I would love to try a GLX version of it someday. I never found my rear grip too long. Does it get in your way somehow?
  5. Make sure your line is going through the ring and not the guide brace. If the line is going through the brace instead of the ring it could curl your line. No guide will cause kinks if the line is going through the ring. Is your line twisted?
  6. Is a great rod for chatter baits, spinnerbaits, Jigs from 1/4oz-3/8oz, Texas rigs, squarebills, poppers. It's great all around rod. They also make a 6'6" and 7' model of this 3 power rod.
  7. 10lb braid to 8lb fluorocarbon for wacky rigs 15lb braid to 10, 12, or 15lb fluorocarbon for Texas rigs depending on the cover I’m fishing.
  8. Plano 3600 boxes in the Cabelas Angler bag. I also bought a water proof cover for the bag that's designed to go over backpacks for hikers that I bring in case of rain. Works great.
  9. For me the 1/4oz Bitsy Flip and Yum Wooly Bug is the deal. Also try the tiny size Paca Chunk. The small profile catches 1lbers up to 6lbers. I love the Bitsy Flip jigs.
  10. I fish in Michigan a lot. After getting too many pike bite offs while bass fishing I started tying 7” 30lb Seaguar blue label leaders. I caught so many pike up to 35” with these without any bite offs. I tie a 4 turn clinch knot with the heavy fluorocarbon and it’s solid as a rock. I use it with spooks, and whopper ploppers, And they work great. One thing to keep in mind. As soon as you get a nick in the leader you have to replace it. I make sure to have 2 or 3 pre tied each trip.
  11. I’ve been using the Cabelas swim baits for years and I’ve never had one that doesn’t swim properly.
  12. For me the Cabela's swimbaits are the best out there. You should also try the 5" version of the Cabelas swimbait with a Gamakatsu 5/0 EWG belly weighted hook. It's the best rig of this kind I've ever used.
  13. Bitsy Flip jig with Yum Wooly Bug trailers. Numbers and biggest fish all caught on this combo. two 4's, 5, and 6 LMB and a 3 and 4+ SMB.
  14. All types of jigs, from Ned rigs, Bitsy Bugs, 3/8oz bass jigs.....all my favorites.
  15. I have three Tournament Pro G reels that have been beat on with zero issues. Excellent casting reels. I've Used Lews customer service numerous times and they are always fast and helpful.
  16. I use 10 or 15lb braid to fluorocarbon or mono for jerkbaits all the time without issues. I would recommend not casting too hard.
  17. Always use a leader. 30lb Power Pro to 12 or 15lb Red Label tied with an FG knot. Sensitivity is fantastic. I have zero issues with the FG going into the casting reel too.
  18. Might as well use a cane pole and some red wigglers.
  19. It's very helpful to use yellow braid and watch watch watch your line as soon as your jig hits the water. Lots of jig bites on the fall can't really be felt (other than it feeling weird, instead of a thump) but you can see the line move......set the hook!
  20. With jigs I like to let them settle on the bottom, wait for 20-30sec, then start a very slow retrieve to begin with. Then later if that's not working try being more active with them. The short wait triggers lots of fish with jigs. I find if I start the retrieve immediately I'm taking it away from the strike zone too quickly. Lots of time bass with see the jig fall, and go over to investigate it.
  21. I don't understand why there seems to be reason for people to want to like this brand. Tackle Advisors on YouTube has shown them to be cookie cutter reels. My opinion on them is if you want to buy a cheap reel that probably isn't going to last, and you can't get parts for you will get what you pay for. I see no reason for people to give them an extra chance. I'm not referencing the OP, just sayin'
  22. The cork handle MH 6’10” fast or 7’1” extra fast casting rods would be my choice. Both are fantastic rods. I prefer them to the elite series and they are less $$$ to boot.
  23. There is an undue amount of dissing the E6X rods. They are excellent rods.
  24. 30lb Power Pro to 15lb McCoy or Seaguar Red Label. I like the Copoly more in water less than 6 feet.
  25. That's a great choice. They're a great series of rods. The updated versions of them are really nice, a with better handle and smaller guides. If you ever want a casting rod in that series check out this guy 7' 843C MBR. Or if you want a shorter version the 6'6" 783 MBR. These rods have the MBR taper from the older IMX rods and they are excellent.
