What kind of water are we fishing now?
This. The majority of youtube videos out there are talking about backs of pockets, backs of creeks, etc. My little waters "ain't" got that stuff. LOL

Has anyone ordered a rod from Japan Lure Shop within the past 2-3 weeks? UPS and US customs is holding up my package.
Where did it enter the US? I would think the biggest delay would be where it entered the States. I'm pretty sure every JLS purchase I've made has used FedEx. Last order I think it entered the US through Alaska.

Just wait until 2027!
Golf used to be my passion, son is playing D1 currently. As a DIE HARD American, I'm glad we lost. The way our "fans" behaved is an absolute disgrace to the sport and our Country. Friendly banter is expected, this went too far.

Do you find one brand/rigging style of fluke type baits outproduces the rest?
OK the person that named this. LMAO

- Is there any specific advantage to using fluoro for big swimbaits, and can it be more difficult to use than mono?
This is why I've thought about changing. I've got some now that are $150 and more and it's very hard to trust fluoro sometimes. I just had a backlash the other evening, not even sure how it happened. I still have to fix it, but not sure how much I can trust the line after it. I might have to put new line on. Tatsu ain't cheap. I feel like I'm pretty good with my knot tying ability, but that's another thing you need to pay extra attention to with fluoro.- An Announcement From Me
Sorry to hear that. Were you a smoker? Or worked in conditions that caused it? Down here, radon is very common. I'm a large advocate for getting your house checked. A $15 test kit from Amazon is all that is needed. I've talked a lot of my clients into testing their house and many have elevated levels. Very common here in Iowa, and our cancer rates are near the top in the US.- Is there any specific advantage to using fluoro for big swimbaits, and can it be more difficult to use than mono?
I highly doubt it. You don't mention the action of your rod, that would be important to know. BTW, there are plenty of guys that fish swimbaits a ton and use mono. I currently use fluoro and have thought about switching to mono. I probably won't as I don't need the stretch but there are some advantages to mono.- The latest sale thread
Is there a code? How are you seeing this? THANKS- Knockers
Yeah that sorta makes sense. The other evening I went out with one rod and one lure. A popper. It was supposed to be a quick outing as it was a lake we pass visiting some friends. There’s a large area with a ton of riprap. I was 99% sure I’d catch either a brown or green bass. I’ve caught them both here. The sun was completely down, just a slight breeze. I worked that popper parallel to the riprap for probably 400 yards. One small swirl. I’m still baffled and thought maybe the knocker made an impact because this lake gets a ton of pressure.- Having a custom BFS rod made by a professional rod builder.
I know nothing about rod building, but I can cut and paste pretty good. CTS TurboTaper™ is a turbo-charge design concept to create a more dynamic, faster rod with exceptional power. Aptly named the ‘turbo’ because it delivers extra power when needed, the TurboTaper™ is a CTS innovation that speeds up a rod taper, injecting more power in the butt of the rod, while keeping the tip area nice and agile.- Latest Catch Pics Thread
Thank goodness you didn't make this comment the other day with your fly down! LOLOLOL- Any chemists on here?
What causes clarity issues where you are at? Agriculture is our biggest problem here in Iowa I would guess. Fertilizer and run off. But looking at Table Rock and similar places down where you are, agriculture doesn't seem to be common. Seems to be mostly forest/hills. Residential areas of course also.- Displaying my memories
Looking at those lures. Tell us you're old without telling us you're old. LOL Just kidding. Pretty cool!- Post a photo a day!
This photo doesn't do justice of the actual event. Visually it was one of the coolest things I've ever seen. I'm paddling back to the boat ramp that was lit, and this big Egret (or something) flies and lands next to me in a laydown. I got pretty close, she wasn't too afraid of me. Someone with a nice camera could have taken some really cool pics of her.- Losing bass in kayak
Just happened to me on Friday. For me I wasn't fully prepared. I had another rod in my lap that was snagged. Picked up a different rod and I haphazardly threw it into a laydown. I'm blaming myself. I probably set the hook too "lazy". I don't look like any of the guys on tv. LOL Bummer because it seemed like a pretty good fish.- Latest Catch Pics Thread
Well, the month of September has been pretty disappointing. Mother Nature apparently didn't want me to fish much. Heat, storms, pea soup water, you name it. The "highlight" of the month came on Friday. Brought several combos to a lake and once again had to deal with pea soup water with maybe 6" of visibility. I wasn't expecting it to be this dirty. I came expecting (hoping) to throw a lot of topwater but the conditions weren't ideal for it. But like a stubborn mule, I kept tossing my popper. Was able to get this nice 17". Hate to admit, but the biggest of the month. Don't make fun of me. It was really sunny and I just started growing my beard out in the morning.- Looking for a lure that behaves like a Karashi, but is slightly bigger
With it's popularity, I'd give Megabass a little time and I bet they come up with one.- Knockers
No, not THAT kind. I'm talking about rattles, knockers, whatever you want to call them. What's your opinion on them? I've said "I'm no expert" on here about 100 times, but they just don't seem natural to me. I know fish eat all kinds of not natural baits, but it just seems these could hinder more than help. I can understand really dirty water. But clear water? Water that gets a lot of pressure? IDK, I might start looking for silent versions. Thoughts?- Teach your children well…
I'll be 49 at the end of the year. I'm guessing my middle son will make me a grandpa in about 5 years. If it's his older sister or younger brother something went wrong!!! LOL Not gonna lie, I'm getting a little excited.- Annual contest has returned.
Do you have heat up there? High 80's down here all week. This is getting ridiculous.- Has anyone ordered a rod from Japan Lure Shop within the past 2-3 weeks? UPS and US customs is holding up my package.
Unless you have an unlimited pocket, I think 9/10 are thinking/doing the same. My wife won't complain, I can guarantee that.- 36 replies
