  1. I'm going to show this thread to my wife. I'd hate to get injured throwing old gear.
  2. FG knot. I hold it in my teeth. Get some old fishing line and practice, that's what I did. Now it's easy.
  3. I haven't looked at all 861 pages yet. But after a couple dozen, I've learned that the key is to either find a good church pond or move to TX.
  4. Dang, that is a super cool hat and award. I don't know why but I just LOVE that hat!
  5. Well well well, looks like a Cyclone has entered the chat. I still need to check my guides. Haven't fished in several days due to the heat.
  6. Yeah it’s hot as balls here in Iowa. Feels like 101 right now and it’s only noon. No fishing for this guy. Could go out at midnight or something but that takes more motivation than what I might have.
  7. I need something like this but also a want a way of labeling everything for size/weight. Otherwise I have random hooks and weights and don’t know their size.
  8. Dang, I like how you think. Outstanding observation. This probably makes the most sense. I still have to check my guides, but with it being brand new, I'm "assuming" everything will be in great condition. This is something to think about. If it's the cause, I might have to respool every season.
  9. I went through a couple spools of decent fluoro's with bad luck. Not even the cheap stuff. Tatsu is night and day different.
  10. Went out last night with some 1/32 jigs and a zman little plastic thingy. Threw it on UL spinning. Thank goodness I didn't buy any 1/64, unless I was only looking to cast 4 feet. Caught a bunch of smaller bass and one bluegill. They normally came in with a bunch of weeds attached to them but nothing lost. Went earlier than what I liked so it was too sunny fishing from the shore.
  11. So I picked up some tiny little soft plastic/jigs to go after large bluegills. The problem is this small lake is chuck full of weeds. The jig size is only 1/32 so I'm assuming I'll have to cast this on UL. I have a terrible feeling once I get a good one on I won't be able to control it on 4 lb mono and UL reel. I'm sure I'll catch some smaller bass as well. Just feels like I'm a sitting duck. Thoughts? Maybe I can get by with a ML rod.
  12. Nice fish. Love those hard fighting bluegills.
  13. I sure hope not. Rod was brand new as of last fall. I'm going to check the guides with q tips as others have mentioned. Fingers crossed.
  14. Not sure if you are calling him a liar or spinnerbaits get you really excited? LOL
  15. See I'm the guy that would have fished that sucker until dark. Put my limit in the livewell and then release them around the corner. LOL ZERO chance I'm going to let him "win".
  16. Reason(s) to fish with poop over a senko?
  17. Nope. Other than last night's accident, it seems to be in great shape. Zero coils or anything, not even close. I've been a huge fan of Tatsu.
  18. LOL, yep it said the source was bassresource.com.
  19. Explains why I cried myself to sleep last night. In the fetal position. It's not a good look I tell ya.
  20. I need to buy some kind of a lure retriever for snags. It wouldn't have helped in this situation but maybe the other 110 I lost this year.
  21. I keep my lure "stored" on top of the reel. I wondered about it myself but where it broke was a good 20 yards of line. Picture I found online to show:
  22. No expert, but it seems like with that much extra water there's a million other places that fish can go.
  23. I won a bet on the NBA game last night. Took the sting out of it a bit. I may not have survived the night if it would have lost. Wife: "You lost a $25 lure AND placed a bet?" Shocked she hasn't divorced me yet.
  24. I'll have to check the guides and line. Both rod and line were brand new in the fall. Just doesn't make sense but most things in life don't.
  25. Nope. How does fluoro handle weeds? The lake I've been using it the most has sporadic weeds.
