Your Current Swim Jig Specific Rod ?
Another MegaBass Orochi XX Diablo Spec R user here. I also use it for spinnerbaits, deep cranks, chatterbaits.......Great rod.

When stuff isn’t working
Depth, speed, vibration, sound are all variables that you can use to change it up. Vibration and sound I usually base on water clarity. Depth and speed of the presentation are based on the fish that day. I found color, within reason, rarely makes a difference on quicker moving baits, more on slow presentations.

Spinnerbaits
I use a paddletail trailer all the time.

Spinnerbaits
I have mostly War Eagle. I tend to do well with them in spurts. In the last month or so the only day I was successful with them was a short period about 30 minutes before it rained, during the 30 minute rain, and about 15 minutes after the rain. Other days, cloudy, windy, neither, I haven't had much luck lately.

Bluegill color options?
Sungill is what I use with my bluegill colored swim jigs.

Fisherman's thumb?
I thought fisherman's thumb was when your thumb got all chewed up from lipping a bunch of bass on a great day of fishing.

Braid brands and backlash
I use both Sufix 832 and PowerPro. As long as I do my part I have no issues with either. I also don't go below 20 lb test. I did use one brand last year, I can't remember what it's called, it was a well known Japanese brand, J-Plex or something like that. Wind knots something fierce with that one.

embarrassing boating stories
Didn't happen to me but I got about 30 minutes of amusement watching while I waited to bring my kayak into the ramp towards the end of a tourney. Another guy in a boat also watched and enjoyed the show. Two guys in one of those little hybrid SUV's had a little 10 foot jon boat on a trailer. The trailer/boat were obviously brand new. The top of the ramp is concrete, the bottom as it enters the water is gravel. They were trying to launch the boat without getting the vehicle tires in the water. They slowly backed up and one guy got into the boat while it was on the trailer and the back end was BARELY in the water, and tried to push the boat off the trailer,,,not happening. After a couple of tries he got out and the driver backed a bit more and then he tried to drag it off, not happening. So the driver backed up a bit more, the back tires were now in about six to eight inches of water and the boat finally started to float a bit and the guy outside the car gave it a shove as the driver quickly pulled forward. The boat ended up back on the trailer but completely sideways.....lol. I ended up paddling to the ramp and hinting that at this point it might be easier for the two of them to just pick the jon boat up off the trailer and put it in the water. Which they did.

Baitcaster for Everything
I've used only baitcasters for the past several years. I just purchased a decent spinning rod and reel for some finesse. I'll be using it for the first time tomorrow setup as a dropshot. If I don't have luck it will quickly convert to a wacky rig.

Kayak vs Boat
I should do a video on my build. It's pretty customized at this point. Always thinking of little things to add, remove, what works for me, what doesn't. That's half the fun. Magnets here, cup holders there (both aren't to hold cups), net placement and security, rod holders....on and on............ And when the season is over the two batteries come in the house and the entire setup goes on a rack on the garage wall out of the way.

Kayak vs Boat
This is my first year in my SS127 and my 4th fishing kayak. I wish I had bought this when they first came out. It would have saved my some time and money......lol I do have a Bixby motor on it but have no issues at all paddling it.

I'm Ready For Fall
I'm not ready for fall because it's right before ice. LOL But, I'm ready for some clouds and rain. And not in the middle of the night. I've fished with cloud cover maybe once in the last month plus and that was for a couple of hours before they were gone. I'm looking at the same thing over the next few days. When it does rain it's horrible thunder storms so that doesn't help.

7’0 or 7’2 Rod
Get a MH/Fast. I can practically guarantee you would not notice a difference between 7-00 and 7-02.

Technology
My biggest was 8 lb 3 oz on an Abu Garcia Black Max combo that cost me $69 with a wacky rigged Yum Dinger. My rods alone now cost much more than that! As do my lures..

Preparing for the day...strategies
I usually know what I'm going to use the night before unless I've never been there. If I have never been there I can usually get pretty close based on looking at the depth map and weather. There are times I get there and have to switch things up based on water clarity or an unknown change in the weather. Using yesterday as an example. I went to a regular spot, a small strip quarry that has clear water. Weather called for sunshine and very low wind. I was on the water 30 minutes before sunrise and it was fairly windy as well as clouds that weren't supposed to be there. I planned on starting with a 1/4 oz spinnerbait until the sun got above the trees but with the wind and clouds I figured I'd keep throwing it a bit longer. I was having a very good day until the wind stopped so I switched to a Jackhammer and starting catching them again. This was all in six feet or less of water. Then the clouds left, the sun was higher and the bite stopped again. So..........I started throwing a Rat L Trap in Sexy West in deeper water, between 12-15 feet since visibility was at least 8-10 feet. Bam, back on them. And most of my bites on that were while I was counting down the fall and hadn't even started reeling. I also tried a jig/craw in the deeper water around humps, islands, and drop offs and didn't get a single bite. Nor did a weighted wacky rig or t-rig. They wanted movement and sound apparently.

Jerkbaits: Floating, Suspending, Sinking?
I'm pretty sure every single one of my jerkbaits is suspending.

You can't teach courage. You can't teach heart. Etc.
I have a tendency to try to be the best that I can if I'm going to do something. Anything is more fun if you're successful. With bass fishing over the past few years I can point to a couple things that have led to my improvement, to what degree each one has I have no idea. 1. Watch video, read info, apply those tactics 2. I simplified my color choices......no more paralysis by over analysis 3. Learning to eliminate water as much as find water 4. Prior success doesn't mean future success (or failure for that matter) Mix it up. 5. If I want to catch big bass I'm going to lose lures 6. In the summer don't just fish banks and shallows IE: learn to fish deeper water 7. FISH........time on the water is vital. 8. Enjoy the process

Pike ruining plastic trailers
I've never tried it. I'm pretty sure they'd work..might miss a few. One way to find out.

Plano EDGE storage system
Yep, skinnier and smaller crankbaits fit great. Bigger ones or those with a bit of thickness not so much.

Plano EDGE storage system
I love them too. The only one I didn't like is the crankbait box. I couldn't fit enough in it. I can fit more in the other style Plano crank box.
