  1. Anyone ever fished this lake before and has some tips on how to fish it this time of year? I have a tournament in a couple weeks.
  2. Welcome to Bassresource! I'm sorry to say it, but the only solution to stopping backlashes is practice. I learned how to use a baitcaster by casting in the backyard with a weight and heavy braid (it backlashes less). I slowly brought down the weight and lb test until now I can skip weightless plastics on 10lb test mono. Keep working at it and you'll get it!
  3. The worst thing is when you are fishing a tournament and you catch a 20 pound catfish on a crankbait. True story.
  4. Nice! I fished a tournament this Saturday and the water temp was 60. Caught a few spawners and even had a couple hits on top.
  5. I don't know what to do but good luck.
  6. It really varies. I can go from 20+ hours a week to zero depending on what I have to do that week.
  7. Don't even ask about the outboard...
  8. Welcome!
  9. I think I got you all beat. ?
  10. I always rig my tubes Stupid style with a normal ewg hook.
  11. I poked a few holes in my fishing backpack and then threaded some paracord through to hold a spare rod. It doesn't work too well but it keeps my hands free. I always have to be careful going under trees, though.
  12. Welcome!
  13. My coach for the bass team told me about a time when a fellow fisherman hit his sonar with a jig. I wonder what the most diplomatic way is to tell someone they owe you $5000?
  14. I flip small bass but I try to have my coangler net bass over 3.
  15. I am on my high school bass team and several of my friends have boats. I just hitch rides with them because I don't have enough money. @SemperBass is right, I have seen my friends go through a ton of money on new bells and whistles. Just when they get it just the way they want it, something new breaks! I would recommend a kayak instead.
  16. Backhand skip w/ baitcaster. I backlash every time. Also, for some reason as I get better at skipping with a baitcaster, skipping with a normal spinning rod gets worse...
  17. Lake fork guy, 1rod1reel, Bassresource. I also watch BlacktipH, but he is an ocean fisherman.
  18. A weightless trick worm skipped waaay deep under a dock.
  19. A great day out on Lake Norman! We were catching them off isolated docks on secondary points. The reason I'm grimacing a bit is because that bigger spot just thrashed and ripped up my thumb. Gotta love that bass thumb!
  20. Welcome!
  21. This is a great thread! Jigs are the most versatile lure.
