  1. Don't you love Golf Course Bassing!!! Great job!!
  2. The relentless fronts put my fishing on hold last week, but this Sunday while golfers were swinging at the Honda Classic we were catching in adjacent canals. Had about 25 total bass Sunday morning and another 20-30 this evening. Biggest went 6-11 (pictured), but most were 2lbers, with an occasional 4lber. Skinny dippers and T-rigged worms in various colors were the ticket on Sunday and today almost all came from lipless crankbaits. This week is going to be RED HOT for bass as the water warms up in South FL.
  3. Tell me about it! Bass around my canals and lakes have been on the beds only to be off them the next day for 3-4 days straight. I think this is going to push the next waves of spawners off the beds for a bit, so the spawn will be delayed throughout the State. I have some honey holes that should load up soon though if we get some weather in the 70s for a few day in a row.
  4. Rinse never soak and use pledge on blanks to keep them looking new.
  5. Handled them at iCast and they seemed liked great rods. Seemed well balanced and not too tip heavy as most rods are. Not sure of their durability or actions though, but they are a small rod maker and with that comes risk.
  6. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ This is what my Yamaha tech said also. By the way what make and model electric pump do you have to pump out gas from tanks? I figure if I do this it will save me having to by Stabil a times and have fresh gas on every trip!!
  7. Put in at the Okee Tanie Marina yesterday and ran south towards Indian Prairie canal to some of my spawin honey holes. Ended up catching 30 to 40 bass fishing Skinny Dippers and Spro frogs on the inside grass line where the water cleared up. Had some luck fishing the outside with lipless crankbaits also. Most fish were dinks, caught a handful that were in the 3-4lbs range though. Buddy had a bass that would have easily gone 8 to 10lbs, but it jumped and spit the hook much to our dismay. These post frontal conditions are going to be tough this weeked for the Stren tour out of Clewsiton, but some hogs should be caught.
  8. I have fished with Steve and he is a class act and I am sure he can bring you up to speed. He guides out of Clewiston (South End) last time I went out with him. Angie Douthett, is also great and guides out of Okeechobee (North End).
  9. Pretty much all year long in S. FLA., extreme conditions here usually shuts any bite off. This morning I went out and the pattern was flipping and pitching pads, and they didn't come after the top water as I expected, but I usually try to catch'em on top!
  10. Thanks, that was the ticket my knob was freaking so darn tight I couldn't turn it. It looks a bit weird though since the motor head is almost at 90 Degree in relation to the lower unit so I doesn't look nice and neat like it used to, but it solved the issue.

KVD leads The guy is a machine!
  12. I agree with above, but you can do both. I found a great Jon Boat trailer on Craig's List for $250, I replaced hubs and rerouted brake cables and now have an almost new trailer that would retail for well over $500. So be patient keep searching and save some $$$$, open up an trading account and buy some TM or CEF for the long haul and it will beat the pants out of the savings account return!!!
  13. Not sure what all the mystery is about. Our site here is much more informative regarding fishing techniques and equipment. Also, our flee market is better when it comes to fishing tackle, even though theirs is "bigger" (i.e. lots of spam). Nevertheless, I have less than 20 or so post over there and think our site is an overall COOLER site 8-).
  14. Shoot me a PM I when you are coming down!
  15. Went out this morning to the refuge w/ my father-in-law. Made the run from the Southern Blvd ramp to the flats and caught about 8 buck bass, but the wind took all the fun out of it, especially since he wore SHORTS and SANDALS! Told him it was going to be cold. but didn't realize the wind was going to blow 20 knots (Wunderground.com let me down)!! We only fished about 3 hours before I made the long run back going 60MPH into a head wind! He said he didn't mind the long run since his feet and legs were numb already. If you are down that way try the flats, find the eel grass edges and throw a Skinny Dipper with a 1/16 or 1/8 oz. bullet weight and let it drop in the darker holes and set up on a DINK for me! If you find the big'uns please do share your secret cause my last two trips have been dink city!
  16. I have a Minn-Kota Maxxum bow mount trolling motor and was wondering if any members know how to adjust pedal position relative to lower unit position? Currently, my foot pedal in the neutral position has the boat going to almost 90 degrees to the right when in the neutral (flat) position, I would like pedal's neutral position have the lower unit move the boat in a straight line. I verified that indicator arrow and light line up with lower unit and played around with tension screw, but can't figure it out
  17. BINGO! I bet KVD could still kick butt in a 18' Ranger Bass Master Classic Rig from the 90s
  18. I have a 2008 Pathfinder and a 2006 Frontier and both have same engines with following specs Engine: 6 Cylinder, 4.0 Liter, 266hp Torque: 288 lb.-ft. @ 4,000RPM Tows to 6000 lbs. I can pull my buddies 21' Stratos and my 18 1/2' Ranger is a rag doll. So you should be fine, also my Frontier and Pathfinder came with transmission oil cooler from factory! Make sure you check for your years model features. In 2008 Nissan Pathfinders also have a V8 option 5.6-liter V8 w/310 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque and towing is rated at 7,000 pounds
  19. GO AGM No mention of Lifeline, Odyssey or Deka? With proper maintenance 5 to 6 years can be attained. Recharge when you get back from your trips and all should go well, AGM's are usually lighter than conventional batteries and hold charge much longer!
  20. If you dead set on Nitro/Tracker great, have you considered any other brands? Just a thought, the way the economy is right now you can get a heck of deal if you haggle a bit. Also, almost new "used" boats under warranty are a dime a dozen.
  21. Skinny dippers are the go to bait lately. I love the white trash color and June Bug.... Power Pole is a must, can't see any serious tournament anglers without them anymore. It comes in so handy especially in our shallow Florida bowl type lakes. I am glad I got one, wish I had two to really keep the nose pinned.
  22. Up in Northern Palm Beach county, not only are Peacocks floating or lining the bottom of canal systems dead, but also spotted tilipia, and plecos. Here is a recent article on the effects of the cold snap here in S. FLA: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/nationworld/2011039078_snakes11.html Don't you love when someone gives a % of mortality rate, where do they get their numbers? I for one haven't seen any live exotics in my canal system after the January cold snap other than Blue Tilipia, but I hope some of the Peacocks lived, I will see this summer.
  23. One of the best personalities on the show, seemed like a no b.s. type man. May his family carry on strong.
  24. Great lake to fish!! Good luck!!
  25. Most of the time I am a Monster hunter catching plenty of dinks (under 3lbs) while trying.
