Okee-Tantie Fishing Report
Launched out of Okee-Tantie marina this morning to scout for this weekends upcoming youth duck hunt and did a little fishing. Found plenty of dead tilipia, snook, and a HUGE manatee, but found a great spot just before reaching the Buckhead Ridge canal. Beds galore! Only fished for a little bit since we were trying to put up ducks, but when we did fish it was on. Find the Pepper grass and the hard bottom, had best luck fishing white trash Skinny Dippers with a small 1/16 oz bullet weight and Spro Bronzeyes. One major problem though, don't come off plane too quickly unless you want to trolling motor back out to deeper water. Fished out of the good ole go devil motored boat so we could get back there, caught some poor sole trying to get out of the mud. If you can't get deep in the stuff to find the pepper grass try the outside reed edge with trap type baits and cover ground, saw a few bass chasing baits. Don't forget to look out for a dead manatee he was right in the middle of outside grass edge channel, would not be very good to hit it on plane. GOOD LUCK and TIGHT LINES!

Cumara VS. Loomis IMX
I have the GLX and Cumara in similar actions and would say go with Shimano's Cumara, it a point of diminishing returns that in my opinion isn't justified with the extra cost. Cumara wins hands down over the IMX though.

FLW East at the Big O
Went the final day's weigh-in and was happy to see Scott Martin finally win one on his home waters. He ended up with a monster stringer on the last day to beat out John Cox. One of the angler commented that the fishing is on now at the Big O with the spawn in full swing. He stated that the last hour or so of the tournament he boated a bass on EVERY CAST and caught about 150 total for the day. WOW! Can't wait to go out to the Lake this week!!! Congrats Scott Martin!!

Holiday park help?
Any of you fellow smell the stench of rotting exotics while you were out? The STAs stink so bad in certain areas I had to move while duck hunting!

Sad days in S. Florida
Bingo!!!!! Peacock bass would have never been introduced if it were for the "invasive" problem (mayans, tilipia, etc). Therefore, I would have to agree that ideally all invasive and non invasive exotic species do more long-term harm to the local ecosystem than good. Sure the Peacock bass fights harder and I would rather catch one over a largemouth, BUT so does a Nile Perch! If those of you who state you don't see a problem with exotics due to X reason (fight, economic impact, etc.) Why not introduce a better fighting species into your local waters that has a better economic impact (i.e. Introducing Nile Perch into brackish and fresh waters of Florida for its sporting and economic impact). This would be the extension of the logic correct? Nevertheless, I am happy we have Peacocks and Oscars around or should I say had....they fight great, but in the back of my mind I will always think that someway these exotics are limiting my ability to catch the 15lb. monster largemouth since exotics have a a direct impact on total biomass a body of water can support.

New domino's pizza
Just had a pizza party for my son's 1st birthday and placed 3 total orders from Pizza Hut, Domino's and Papa John's Pizza. All but a couple were cheese pizzas and I was really impressed with the Domino's until the Papa John's delivery man showed up with the order of Domino's, Pizza Hut never arrived and we cancelled the order.

Question: fishing deeply rooted weeds
Try an Okeechobee rig, it will punch through just about anything, use heavier weights accordingly. Also remember seeing an episode of the "Scott Martin Challenge" where he would toss/pitch for lack of a better term high in the air so it would build momentum to PUNCH through the thick stuff. Good luck! Okeechobee Rig: http://www.unclejosh.com/sizmiclure/modules/cart/products.php/nav_id/75/page/1/id/155/name/OkeechobeeRigProPack8pcs

Respect
It takes all kinds of people, rude and respectful to make the world what it is. If someone is too thin skinned to take a rude comment or what is perceived to be a rude comment, then its that persons issue. Sticks and stones......names will never hurt me. On the other side of the coin, if a member is obnoxious or just rude because that's his way of expressing himself then so be it. I think that's what makes this forum so entertaining! Personal attacks though have no part in our forum unless a fellow member committed a known crime (The_Natural). Nevertheless, once a horse is beaten no need to go on and on about it, and that's where admin steps in, unless of course we are bashing Quantum owners , pun intended!

Fill a tackle box on a 100.00 budget?
Where is "The_Natural" when you need him, he could fill two boxes with that budget.

Ahhhh, the old argurment does color matter?
Sometimes color makes a HUGE difference and others times it doesn't. That being said I try tp use natural colors and transparent earth tone hues in ultra clear water and vivid or darker tones in dark water, but its never a rule!

Stocking Up On Frog Baits! Your Input?
One word for you SPRO! I like River 2 Sea also, but why they are harder to get and more expensive on average, for same performance. I have the Madd Maxx frogs and in my opinion the plastic on them is TOO HARD. Another fair choice is The Swamp Donkey, by Reaction Innovations, but its a bit light and for the money your better off with Spro, although it comes through reeds better. Bobby's Perfect is far from.
