  1. Small flukes work great also!
  2. Fact: 1. We still don't know what caused the rig to explode until investigations are completed. Was it gross negligence on the rigs owners, operators, BP, Transocean, etc. etc. or just an accident that could have happen to the rig lease by another oil company in the Gulf? 2. BP owns 65% of the blown well and is its operator. Anadarko owns 25%. Mitsui owns 10% 3. Laws govern how much BP is responsible for Read this: http://resources.lawinfo.com/en/Articles/Oil-Spill/Federal/how-much-will-bp-have-to-pay-damage-caps-for-.html 4. Environmental and fiscal impact to the local community is sickening and some may never recover. 5. The world's infrastructure is built on oil, until we have a significant shift to other energy supplies, don't complain about the dangers of using oil unless you don't depend on it yourself.
  3. My "nonsense" point is that I rolled the very sharp hook point more often than than less expensive quality hooks, thus the recommendation. I agree that there are plenty of expensive items that don't "suck" and set the standards to be judged by (e.g. GLX, Core, Steez, etc.), yet people still find "nonsense" reasons that they "suck." There are also expensive items such as Trokar hooks that don't offer more bang for the buck when compared to other less expensive hooks, thus reasonably fitting in your definition of "suck." Try Reaction Innovation's BMF Flippin' hook or Gamblers flipping hook, they are less expensive and I bet just as effective than Trokar, but if spending frivolously is your cup of tea go right ahead, I do it all the time with JDM reels !
  4. That's what I love about TV now, if ESPN kills its programming another channel will pick up its programming (i.e. Versus, Outdoor Channel, etc.) Eventually all TV channels will be tailor made to your lifestyle choices. Not long before the fishing channel pops up I bet.
  5. Was at my local Gander Mountain about a month ago and bought some Trokar hooks to compare to my Gammy and Owner wide gaps. I wanted to see if the hype is real and bought a pack. Nice packaging, but that is about it. After fishing them, I can honestly give a fair review, SAVE YOUR MONEY and get Owners or Gammy, even Mustads. The wire is about as strong as the Gammy EWG and the point feels sharper than Owners right out of the box, but it doesn't hold it as well. So for almost 2x the price they are't worth it, unless you own or are a shareholder in Trokar.
  6. One Word......SHINER! A big SHINER
  7. Char Broil Commercial CR Best Buy $249 Costco for weekend BBQ supplies $300 Insurance Deductible for house flood (Don't Ask) $2500 Tackle Warehouse $200 Rib Eye Steaks from Winn Dixie $50
  8. As Senko77 said, Thick plastics EWG thinner plastics straight shank. Why limit yourself.
  9. Abu's Vendetta is a great rod and I like it better than the Mojo or Skeet's rod for the money. I even like the ASR better than the Mojo or Skeet.
  10. Preach on!! Samurai is awesome!!
  11. From Sailfish to Bass you won't be disappointed, the classic refined round reel!!
  12. This is what guys name Snook normally catch ;D Are you having luck in the Suds early in the A.M. or late in the evening now?
  13. Cool spot, looks like you were near Florida Mango and Forest Hill ! Nice catch on the Yak too! Also, are you sure you weren't using a Tru Tungsten Madd Maxx or was it the Spro Bronzeye Frog?
  14. Time for a class action.
  15. Germans!! Good beer and fiscal responsibility. ;D
  16. Glad we have our second amendment rights.
  17. Great little fishing MACHINE! You really don't need much more than that in S. FLA. Believe me, I catch more bass, snook, and peococks out of my little boat than the Ranger!!! ;D
  18. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_10200462_225001000_225000000_225001000_225-1-0 Hand controlled for small boats is usually my advice. I have a small jon boat and stand up on the front deck with the hand control and an extensio. If you position yourself just right you can use your legs to motor about and its a lot less weight than the foot controlled models on the front and sucks less juice than the powerdrives. On bigger boats foot controlled is way to go.
  19. I second the above advice. They are made by Odyssey for Sears and Odyssey batteries are awesome!!
  20. I own a Mojo Spinner and bought a Gander Titanium for my brother, in my opinion the Gander Titanium is a better buy.
  21. "To each his own" I have some snotty "Salt Life" friends that laugh at my Ranger Bass boat and say when are you going to get a REAL boat and turn their nose up at my backyard paradise, "Bass, tilipia, bluegill, can you eat those fish....," so I say run strong my little red Neon on that masculine 4runner chassis, even it if it is a 4 banger!!!
  22. Great outing!! I like Garcia when the winds keep you off the Stick/Farm. Where did you catch the majority? That canal leading into the back end of the water control struck of Stick Marsh is awesome.
  23. I second the above motion. Let's start cutting the red-tape for nuclear power-plants, use natural gas to its full extent, build more hydro-electric plants, use wind energy to light our houses, etc etc., but....... Don't complain when cracking techniques used for Natural gas extraction ruins your watershed, don't complain when that nuclear power plant is in your backyard, don't complain when prices go up due to the fact the one of the most inexpensive sources of energy is phased out for less economically feasible alternative. Until then I suggest we make it safer to drill and use this unfortunate disaster to learn from.

  25. NFL had O.J. Simpson and we have Matt Greenblatt..............?? This took me by surprise http://www.crimecasefiles.com/forum/cold-cases/11613-gwendel-talijan-greenblatt.html I thought it was cool that a "home town" guy was fishing in B.A.S.S. and stumbled across this while surfing. I know its innocent until proven guilty, but...........
