  1. First ... there is a 250 HP limit .... also those go fast boats don't fish very well from a stability and room standpoint. Had a good friend that ordered an Allison ... waited forever to get it .... then sold it about 6 weeks later because he hated fishing out of it. Real fast though !!
  2. What .... no kudos to the photographer ?????
  3. Glad you waited til we were gone !!! ;D Hope everyone feels better ... quick
  4. What do you run CJ .... a Toon ????? I didn't settle .... I worked hard to own the best !!
  5. No problem Mike !! .... If you are like me, you're just glad you can see the line to tie on a lure !!
  6. Mike .... it is r520dvx and niksfishinmom .... the 520 comes from me owning a Ranger 520 ............. we also offered to take a non-boater out on the water if someone needs a ride ......
  7. Costs me about ...... well nothing !!! I wake up looking at the lake every morning !!!!
  8. First .... you might see a couple a day .... if you are in the coves it is a non issue .... also the barges will be in the main channel. There is a secondary channel on the west side of the lake to run in. The barge wakes are rollers .... not harsh .... just slow down and ride them out ..... big cruiser wakes are worse than a barge wake. BTW ... both the main channel and secondary channel are clearly marked.
  9. firefightn15 ..... rest assured we have hundreds of miles of shoreline !! the lake is long ...... plenty of good banks right near Kenlake.
  10. Jimzee .... Kentucky Lake being 183 miles long, you'll have to pick spots like you did on G-ville and go for it ..... even living on the lake, and fishing the lake for years, I've only seen about 50 miles of it and about 50 miles on Barkely.
  11. The only time we have any significant standing timber here on Ky Lake is when it floods !! ;D Lots of lay downs and stumps, but very very little standing timber.
  12. I had a crankbait come flying back at me about 200 MPH and buried a hook in my groin .... bout 2 inches from ... well you know ! I cut the hook off ... grabbed it with pliers and shoved it on thru ... the bite was good so I went back to fishin !!!
  13. With these rules in place, you are no longer competing against the boaters. Statistically speaking, you probably have better chances of advancement than when boaters and co-anglers all were mixed together. I agree with others who have suggested that you buy your own boat. Gas money is only the beginning .... the operational costs are HUGE .... I have fished as a co-angler before and have never drawn a boater who didn't ask if there was a spot that I wanted to try. I have seen times when co-anglers didn't even offer to help with gas money .... Hopefully, you are NOT one of those .... try paying your boater before blast-off .... you just might have a better day on the water.
  14. First .... this may have been discussed already, but a heads up .... Kenlake is in a DRY county ... so if you are so inclined, you will need to bring it with you. 35 or 40 mile drive to the closest package store. Second .... about 3 miles from Kenlake we have a spot for maybe 6 boats with plugins .... no charge .... let me know if you need a place. Greg
  15. Actually meant the surface temps were mid 40's ....... oops!!
  16. Okay .... niksfishinmom and I live on Kentucky Lake about 10 miles fron Kenlake. TVA normally tries to have the lakes at summer pool by April 15. It could also be way over pool like RW says depending on the rainfall. Last year in April we were several feet above summer pool .... changing ramps for tournaments because the parking lots were flooded. Could go either way. I'll try to keep some updates on here. We are currently a little over a foot above winter pool and a surface temp in the mid 30's and rising. There will be some excellent reports posted starting March first from the premiere guide on the lake. If anyone is interested in these, send me a PM and I'll tell you where to find them. Greg
  17. Niksfishinmom and I are out of town, but will be back Sunday night .... We'll take a run up there and get the info Monday or Tuesday.
  18. I am headed there tomorrow and am hooking up with a local who lives on the lake and fishes almost daily. I'll pick his brain and see if I can get some communication started between you and him. He is also a tournament fisherman.
  19. 10 1/2 days for us !!!!
  20. About 9:30 PM, niksfishinmom and I finally got our power back on ..... we are a lot better off than some ... I hope everyone gets restored soon ..... Greg
  21. This is Day 8 without power .... the novelty has worn off of this mess !!!! >
  22. Russ ..... flip the calendar page dude .... it's 2009 !!!! ;D
  23. CJ ain't the only one !!! Niksfishinmom and I are on day 5 without power ..... been driving about 45 miles to get WIFI service. We have too many animals to just up and leave. It will be quite some time before there is anything normal around here. Little bits are coming back on, but estimates are for several weeks to over a month for some areas. We are hopeful that our power will be restored soon. We wish the best to everyone that has been affected.
  24. You should be able to turn a 26p prop 5600 to 5800 RPM .... maybe a prop problem ...... also .... how is your boat loaded it's easy to load too heavy in the front end. You need someone to work your prop to add some lift. Marks Hi Performance Prop will work your prop to the specifecs of your engine and hull combination ..... send me a PM and i'll give you the contact info for Mark. BTW, he turns propsout of his shop in 24 hours !!!!
  25. Okay .... my piece on BASS vs. FLW being done ..... From an entertainment standpoint, BASS has the better show .... It would be great to put all the pros together for a season or two for a shootout. KVD is awesome .... maybe the Mac Daddy .... maybe not ......................
