Brain surgery again...
Well just over 10 years ago I had my first surgery with a brain tumor and in April 2025 I had another brain surgery. I've been feeling pretty good and finished several months of speech therapy. I'm feeling good that I've been able to get out to the lake and catching some fish again.

Absolutely in love with jigs!!!!
Jigs & Texas Rigs were my best baits last year.

Boat flipping bass
I'm too poor to boat flip a bass, my luck I would break a rod on a 12 incher. 😆

Rod brands with great customer support and "warranties" (insurance)?
Falcon, Kistler, Daiwa have all been great service and lowest cost/warranty related.

That time of year
I did all my reels last month, cleaned & lubed. I had a loose guide on one rod so I repaired that a couple weeks ago. We still have ice on our lakes, but with the warm weather this week we'll probably be seeing some open water.

Snagless jigs and bladed..
I wouldn't consider either of those lures snag less, but yes I always have a pitching jig, swimming jig, bladed jig on a rod at all times.

Is it worth paying someone to disassemble and clean your reels or is it relatively simple to learn?
I've been doing my own reels for around 6 years. You'll have the initial cost for tools/lube/oil but will pay for itself after one reel.

$1,100 Swimbait!?!
That bait cost almost as much as my boat

Good reel/grease for Daiwa baitcasters?
I've been using Super Lube Synthetic Grease and TSI 321 oil

Omfishingsinkers?
I've found the weights to be longer in length compared to some that I have. I would recommend to buy the one's that have the weight printed on them with the no chip coating for sure.

How heavy of a rain will you fish in?
I'm out fishing in the rain as long as their is no crazy heavy winds. One thing I learned that Berkley invented the Berkley Lightning Rod for a reason... 😆

Fish not staying hooked on a jig
I just leave enough to cover the tip of the hook, I'll also spread the weed guard out a bit wider.
-
Fish not staying hooked on a jig
I would also check your weed guards on your jigs, they are usually too long. It is a minor thing that can make a big difference.

A little restock on some soft plastics, the vegetation at a couple of lakes that I fish are thicker than usual. So I've been pitching these baits with 1/2oz-1oz weights to punch through the thick stuff.
