  1. I think I only caught 2 that I weighed that were over 5 lbs this year... which got me to thinkin I didn’t get out much this year. The first came on a 3/8 oz Siebert Dredge Dock Rocker in Blue Craw Color with an Okeechobee Blue Rage Bug as a trailer. This was in the prespawn period. The second one came on a 1.5 KVD Squarebill in bluegill color in early July. In 2018 I had at least a dozen over 5 lbs. Geez I gotta make a resolution to get out more!
  2. I'm not saying you are wrong. I was mostly just thinking it was a nitpicky criticism. But I suppose its reasonable (and probably even a good idea) to try to extinguish fantastical claims (meaning they are assumed or inferred based on potentially tangential data)if they are not supported by evidence. There are however, plenty of data to support that there is a linear relationship in size of bait eaten and bass size (specifically shad)... the reasoning for that however, whether it is because the bass gets more energy per expenditure or if it can just simply eat bigger bait due to its size or some other reason, is just storytelling at this point.
  3. Please tell me you are not serious about this criticism. I would bet that a predator can instinctively identify high energy (calorie) targets.
  4. Overstock bait has YUM Bad Mammas for buy 20 for $10. Just picked up 40 bags.
  5. Best value = Duracell 31 AGM from Sam’s Clib Best battery = X2 31 from batteries plus
  6. Braid as mainline for bottom contact techniques. I’ve read and read that it’s more sensitive and it’s the way to go, but after trying it for a year I have not found that to be true. I can feel way more with straight 20-lb Tatsu than I can with braid plus a 10-12 ft Tatsu leader.
  7. Got some rain last night and wind today and the ice is gone! How many “ice outs” will we get this year? Haha
  8. ‘05 Crew Cab Colorado with a topper I keep one two-piece spinning reel under the backseat and a small Academy bag that holds 4 3600 boxes in the bed.
  9. It has been my goal to take my time and use only quality parts for making this boat into what I want. It has been extremely rewarding and I have really enjoyed the process. Next up on the docket is adding hydraulic steering. Took me all day on the day before Christmas Eve but, with some help I finally had to engineer a tool to get the steering wheel off. I tried every gear and steering wheel puller I could loan from O’Reilly to get the steering wheel hub removed with no success. Luckily, I have a friend who is a bass boat wizard who helped me fab up the perfect puller and that baby popped right off. I hope to get the hydraulic steering operational before the New Year. I ended up getting the Protech system from Cabela’s because I had a bunch of CLUB points to spend.
  10. I made a small edit to your comment. A limit of 18 inchers can usually get you in the money in about any tournament on about any lake.
  11. The bait monkey only has one answer to questions of these sorts.... m0Ar BaItZ!
  12. Spot lock TM all the way. No question... well unless you are doing mostly shallow river fishing.
  13. Don't ever take this for granted! Nice boat! With the mild winter that seems to be occurring in your parts, you might not even have to wait to put some fish in it.
  14. Caught thousands of bass with them. Spent the first 10 years of my fishing experience throw them almost exclusively.
  15. Caught this chunker around 2:30 PM on Christmas Day on a wind blown dam with a jerkbait.
  16. Look like good practice for painting.
  17. If it’s your primary fishing rig then, the yes. If it’s a rig you use occasionally to get on waters you can’t take a boat then maybe not.If it’s a rig you use occasionally to get on waters you can’t take a boat then maybe not.
  18. Buy some live bait or fish food of sorts. Give them a healthy amount every time you catch them on a lure. Just like training a dog. Haha
  19. Might be moving to Denver in July. What can I expect around the Denver area? Not gonna have a lot of time to travel much (maybe 1-2 hours at best) more than a couple times per year. Should I sell my boat and most of my gear and just keep the essentials for bank fishing and start thinking about trout?
  20. Old Town Topwater 106 PDL. Small enough to get a rack for your car
  21. The Dobyns 795 will do a fine job in that range.
